This is an amazing resort hotel where my wife and I stayed for 5 days and 4 nights for our honeymoon and it was AMAZING! Located below is my review for this hotel.
LOCATION- Amazing location in the middle of the reserve, away from the bustling city noise and lights. You have the view of the beach in one side, and view of the mountains in the other side.
STAFF- 5 star rating for the very helpful staff members.
AMENITIES- This resort have a lot of restaurants to visit, from indian, Italian, local Malaysian, continental cuisine, to amazing beverage list. They have numerous swimming pools for adults and kids, a fitness center, and a spa.
ROOMS- we stayed at the ocean wing junior suite which is one of the bigger and more spacious suites located in the ocean wing overlooking the beach. Room a are spacious and very clean, it could actually fit a whole family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the resort. The rooms are extremely clean and beds very comfortable. The staff are exceptional, every staff member we passed acknowledged our presence in a warm friendly way. I have never received such friendliness and warmth on a such a continual basis.

Breakfast daily served with different variety and FYI this resort are no nearby eating establishment although you can get a taxi reasonably priced to go into town.

Overall I am enjoying stay here, recommend :)

My husband and I both enjoyed 90min massages at The Spa while the kids were at the Kids Club for a couple of hours. If you have time to book, it is far more relaxing and private here than an impromptu massage by the pool.

Absolutely brilliant experience! We stayed at the Ocean Wing where 1- The room was big 2- Had a sun bed 3- with outdoor bathtub 4-spectacular view of the pool and beach. The service was exceptional in everything they did from greeting us when we arrived to their farewell when we left. Their breakfast and dinner buffet was large and full of variety. The activities were too many we had no reason to leave the hotel at all. Tips: 1- If you enjoy nature, visit their nature resource center where you can go on a short trek into the nearby jungle, or send your kids to their Ranger experience 2- You can see monkeys and other varieties of wildlife in their reserve 3- DO NOT miss the sunset there, it is one of the most beautiful I have seen in a while 4- They have a cool water slide that kids and adults alike can enjoy - this is in the Garden Wing - walking distance from the Ocean Wing. 5- You can use Uber if you want to pop in to the city to visit the local markets, won't cost you more than 40RM but the distance is about 30 minutes from there (1 hour to the airport).

A TRUE RESORT
THE GOOD: This place is fantastic!! So tranquil, great for couples or for families.
The ocean view rooms as breathtaking and the food was incredible.
But the thing that made the trip was the service. The service was impeccable, they really go out of their way to be of help. Case in point, I misplaced my glasses on one of the days, I casually asked reception if they perhaps could check in lost and found. They rang back to let me know they weren't in the lost and found but that they would search for them. Needless to say wasn't expecting much as the resort is massive they could have been anywhere, but they combed the place and found them!!
I can't say enough about this place, it was great. So many activities for kids and adults, definitely going to go back. Oh, and you can use and gain so many bonvoy points which makes it very convenient.
THE NOT SO GOOD: it is about an hour from the airport

Great hotel! Very well maintained. Tried food at Coffee Terrace restaurant and Naan Indian restaurant and enjoyed it.

Tip 1:
If you are bored of swimming go to the gaming area to play board games, table tennis, table football or to rent a bicycle. The bicycle rental and water sports could be already part of your stay package.

Tip 2:
The hotel usually has activities schedule such as kids face painting, horse riding, water games and many more. It is included free in most stay packages so try it.

What fabulous venue. We enjoyed a 5 day stay there with all the fun. Staff were really friendly. Rooms were really clean. It was nice to see a fruit basket in the room. We enjoyed the sea near by. Boats were free. Sea was not that deep so could swim as we love. Free bysicle rydes were available. Gaming area had enough items to play. Staff was very helpful when wanted find a taxi to go to city.

Great resort. This Shang has spectacular service and a great property. Very kid friendly. Huge empty beach, great family pool. The Ocean Wing is very quiet if you're not travelling with kids. Suites in the Garden Wing get Ocean Wing benefits (similar to Horizon Club...cocktails and breakfast).

Nature reserve is quite cool with knowledgeable guides.

About an hour from the airport, there's nothing around and it's really very pleasant.

Had such a great 4- day stay here! Staff was super friendly and nice. The views and the beach was absolutely breathtaking! Tucked away from the city, this place is the perfect oasis to escape from the hustle & bustle! We were also serenaded home after checking out, which was a pleasant surprise! I would definitely come back when in Sabah!

Beautiful resort, stayed at both the garden wing and ocean wing. Was there for a special occasion and Shangri-La made special arrangements in the room for me. Thank you so much.

Breakfast buffet was decent, staff was lovely. Beach was huge and private. Room was clean and comfortable. Views were good. If you can afford to splurge, do go for the Junior Suite at the Ocean Wing.

The services was sooo great! I stayed 4 days and forgot to bring my hand phone charger and they give me for as long as I stay at there. And the view from my room(ocean wings) are ocean and pool 😍 overall is great for you who want to enjoy the hotel and facilities. But when you have to sight seeing, this hotel is far away from the city. In my humble opinion, the food must be more improve everyday and add western food

It's a fantastic place for resting. All staff were very kind and helpful and they offers various benefits for GC members like welcome amenity and late-checkout until 4 pm.
After Covid-19 pandemic, I'd like to visit again.

Lovely beach side resort . They take note of the finer details , such as cooler boxes when you are at the poolside. Great restaurants cn also be found on the resort for a one stop location. Very kid friendly and great customer service.

The restaurants in there are very good. Breakfast has so many choices, loved fresh orange juice. Would love to go back again!

The staff are super friendly & welcoming. The hotel rooms are fantastic, with optional daily cleaning of which is a superb standard. Have been every year, 3 years in a row. Last year our room's air-con system was very loud however after notifying the reception we were quickly moved to an alternative room. Whenever we required more towels or toilet rolls etc the staff were very quick. The swimming pool has an odd but fun layout, with 1 section where only confident swimmer are permitted - from what I remember it was 2.0 metres deep. The beach is also a fantastic attraction at this place. I highly recommend you bring a frisbee or ball to play on the beach! The breakfast buffet is great too. They offer usually 2 different flavours of freshly squeezed fruit juice. On 1 of the mornings my mother & I saw a huge jackfruit & asked them if they had any to offer (the fruit breakfast bar didn't have any) & the chef immediately took the jackfruit - bare in mind these fruits are the same size if not bigger than a baby - & returned with about 5 plates of jack fruit 😂 was too much of course however just another example of how caring the staff are.

Lovely spa experience package for 2 pax. 60 mins beach side massage and nature walk for around rm600 total. December 2022.

Beautiful resort with its own little patch of rainforest. We loved the organised night jungle treks - lots of nocturnal animals to be seen! We highly recommend you do a private tour as you can spend longer and get longer explanations by the tour guide, plus you can control your torches better and not have inexperienced people lighting up the whole jungle and driving animals away.
The kayak experience is also highly recommended!

I had a great time enjoying the sun, sea & sand! ❤ Thank you for the birthday welcome surprise in my room for my husband! Love the muffin. Our room is at Ocean Wing & perfect view of swimming pool & Sea.

It just that the service during breakfast kinda turn off experience for both me & my husband. We understand our part of social distancing & we have to wait about 45mins for our turn to have our breakfast in Oceana (I think that's the name of the restaurant.) Once we seated at the deck, we ordered the same menu 3 times with a different waiter & waitresses. We've waited for more than 30mins & nothing came back to us. The moment we decided to leave, that's when our breakfast has arrived.

Other than that, we love the staff in RRR. Everyone was so helpful & friendly. Great place to relax & unwind. Definitely will come back soon. ❤

beautiful hotel along the coast line. Kids and adult friendly , they have kids and adult pool too with different activities to offer every day. they also giv out watermelon on the day we are there for free as a snacks to reduce the heat. Ice cream bar is also near the pool side. Great view from the room. Plenty of green to take insta photo. great beach and good service.
