Rooms - run down due to wear and tear because the hotel is about 20 years old, hence require some refurbishment and electrical work in the rooms.

Really enjoyed my stay at Nexus Resort Karambunai. From the food, view, activities.....name it! It truly offers a satisfying service. The staffs and members of Nexus Team were really sporting and friendly during our stay. Credits to Mrs.Vanessa Thein for giving her best to ensure that my brother's wedding reception at Nexus' grand ballroom would go beautifully. We really enjoyed our night and we're pleased with her service and work. Not forgetting all the ballroom staffs and traditional dancers that have made us and our guests comfortable and well-entertained.

I had mixed feelings while leaving the resort. But I'm happy to report that I will be coming back to Nexus real time soon with hopes that the resort will maintain its excellent hospitality and service in the future.
Some say it's heaven...and I guess that's true.

The kindness and professionalism of staff made our stay unforgettable, we will definitely visit again.

We joined the mangrove Kayak Safari, and we had a great time. Even though we only have 2 people, there were 3 staffs accompanied us all throughout. They were all so welcoming and professional, and also they prepared towels and water for us beforehand.
We also joined the surfing lesson. Our instructors were so kind and patient, we had a wonderful time with them.
Another thing was that when we asked to help arrange taxi for our early flight, your staff asked and prepared us takeaway breakfast upon our leave in the early morning. We were absolutely thankful for that.

Nexus Resort and Spa Karambunai understands the importance of keeping every family member entertained. From the youngest to the oldest, there were activities for everyone. We enjoyed family-friendly nature walks, and beach activities. The resort's commitment to creating a holistic family experience set it apart.

After 12 years, I revisited Nexus, and I was initially full of expectations, but in reality, I was quite disappointed.
Room decor being outdated is not a big issue for me, but the lights should work, water should be hot, and the room should be clean. I can accept the fact that the furniture and equipment are old, but I cannot accept the fact that both the shower glass and the walls in the bathroom were covered in water stains. Even the bathtub had water stains. Half of the room light bulbs were not working, and taking a shower after 10 pm meant you couldn't even call it warm water.
As for the breakfast buffet, it was evident that the staff couldn't keep up. The main issue was with the dirty tables. As one group of guests left, the next group came in, and the tables should have been cleaned properly. Don't blame it on the hotel being old. I have always thought that "old" can be charming and retro, but "dirty" is a management issue for the hotel.
The hotel's gym seems to have remained untouched for a long time, with about half of the equipment dating back to the 1990s. It has a very retro feel. However, I believe that unless you are above the age of 60, it would be challenging to generate interest in using this outdated fitness equipment.
What disappointed me the most was the quality of their bathroom amenities. The disposable toothbrush they provided was of lower quality than what you'd expect from a three-star hotel. The bath towels were thin, and there were no bathrobes. The quality of the shampoo and shower gel was concerning, and they didn't even offer body lotion. It makes me wonder if their supplier selection meets the standards of a five-star resort.
It's fortunate that the hotel's service remains as warm as it was 12 years ago. Whether it's the concierge, reception, or room cleaning staff, they all greet you with a smile. I had the opportunity to experience Nexus's Spa again, and it was incredibly relaxing. I remember 12 years ago, when I first arrived at Sabah Airport, there was a massive billboard advertising their Spa.
I sincerely hope that Nexus can focus on improving the details and re-establish the management of this hotel. With its unique geographical advantage and dedicated staff, I hope that the next time I visit Nexus, I will see some noticeable improvements.

Excellent place to be away from the daily traffic jam and stressful working environment. Beach is clean and superb. Very refreshing. Room is old but generally well maintained, OK, but the advanced tech of movie can be challenging.

Came here to attend wedding garden, and stayed extra days to chill out. Service is tip top. Vanessa so helpful, making our stay memorable. Other staffs also awesome.

Wow! Such a beautiful and very peaceful Resort! We had the whole beach to ourselves, the swimming pools mostly to ourselves also. The staff were simply outstanding, and going the extra mile to make their guests stay more than delightful. We loved our 9 nights here in October 2023, and we will definitely be back and taking our friends with us. Raymond, the general manager was incredibly approachable and special thanks to Dayang giving us a beautiful sunshine smile and service each morning. 20 minutes via cab to town, set upon beautiful and tranquil acreage, you will be most impressed with this wonderful Resort. This was my second stay here, the last one was in 2011, but it certainly won’t be my last! Well done Nexus, you’re amazing 🙌🙌

My daughter's wedding at this place really bring up a new approach of combining the traditional and nature.
It was a great simple concept that fulfill religion and culture. The attendees are easily get connected into the ceremony and free to mingle around enjoying the outdoor scenic view, lightings and facilities.
Am very grateful to have Vanessa committed to manage this event in details although she missed Cha Goh Meh dinner with her family. The nice intonation and script by the MC bring up the colors of the event.
The Imam told me in nostalgic, " i was born here at 1950 and really grateful to present today ".

Stay there for 2 night, just to relax and having a peaceful time from busy city life. Me and my wife spend our honeymoon there. The staff very good, decorating our room and provide us with candle light dinner. My wife very happy. Thank you !!

We had a really enjoyable time at Nexus Karambunai Resort. I would describe the ambience of the resort to be luxury and filled with harmony elements. There were more than enough facilities to enjoy with. The food were surprisingly delicious and appetising. The staffs were extremely friendly.

Our main reason for our stay at Nexus was because of my son's wedding reception. Credits to Vanessa Thein for working, planning and cooperating from A to Z, ensuring that the reception would go well as planned. She has never hesitate to give her very best. Kudos to all the ballroom staffs for being super professional in assisting our guests.

To sum things up, Nexus Karambunai Resort is a really good, fantastic and fully-packaged resort, and that I never regretted, even a cent, my stay at Nexus.

We enjoyed our stay in nexus so much ! First of all, it is all depends on your expectation ! If you expect a place which is new, fancy and modern! It may not be your choice. But you may need to pay more to meet this expectations. However ,with this price, I can say, the resort is out of my expectations. And after the pandemic, I thinks all resorts becomes a bit old and got a lot for the maintenance.

First, they upgraded us from garden view to sea view. Thanks for that! And they sent us to the room directly during check it. The room is a wooden style room, ac is good enough, we got a nice balcony with the sea view. So nice. The toilet honestly is a bit old but it got what we needed. We got a bath tub and a shower . It is so good. And the water for the bath tub was hot enough.

Second, the hotel got many activities . We spent most of the time in the pool and beach. So good. The pool was so big. Got one for the kids. And the big one for kids and adult. The resort have a list of free activities, the stretching in the morning is fantastic idea. Thanks for the coach. We did it for 4 days. Besides , the free activities , they got some activities that you can join. We joined the surfing class and it was excellent. Thanks Roy and the other coach. U can rent surfing board, kayak, etc. U can also join the activites which held out of the resort and we did the fishing. Nice experience

Third, the staffs are all amazing and friendly. It makes us feel like a vip guest. No matter in the room, restaurant or pool, everyone are very nice and friendly .

What else, The price of food is good . We had whatever we like with a good price. Breakfast buffet is good. Many options.

The spa is good. I had it twice. Very good and relax.

Oh yes, they have many happy hours for the drink. So good. The live music in horizon was good. we enjoyed it
One point to add is it is a place in the nature. We could see many local lizards , squirrels, monkey and nice bird. Also otters ( around 7:15 in the pond ) . Is a family! It was a special experience.

Honestly it is not close to the town. But if u plan to stay in the resort for few days to slow down yourself and relax. It is a good choice . And the seafood restaurant with 30 mins drive named “ our land” is very nice too.

In general , the atmosphere and environment there is so good . We have a very nice stay and we are thinking to go back in April . If u like surfing, before April is a good choice with good price.

we had our wedding at Nexus last weekend, overall we are very satisfied with our stay and our small wedding here in the Resort. We would like to thank the Wedding Executives Mrs. Vanessa and her crew for taking care of all our needs, including the needs of our guests. It is very stress free as bride and groom we don’t have to worry about our guest and family member’s welfare. Nexus is a beautiful place with beautiful beaches and landscapes , we recommend for anyone who are still looking for a place to celebrate your special day or even just to have a vacation Nexus Resort is the place!!

It was fantastic trip. It was our company gathering of the elite leaders for annual goals. Property is old but it has that serene look and high energy.

Beautiful resort, beautiful staff especially our friend at the buffet I think called Diyana she was an amazing host. The staff were always helpful, room was exquisite and clean, and many many activities to do. We had a lovely spa session which was relaxing. The breakfast food was fantastic, with a variety of options every morning. We will be returning in the near future for sure.

Room Aircon at Merawan 2615 wasnt the best as well as the chocolate milkshake for 20rm was tiny with a lot of ice, was more like milo with ice cubes, should at least have squirty cream and be full size for that price. The food was fantastic at the buffet, all the staff were extremely friendly and had a genuine smile. Clement, who checked us in was also very helpful and could see he was working hard. 👍 The rooms are beautiful with huge roof. the roomie app doesn't work on new phones and internet wasn't fast enough to stream the movies provided on their streaming service but ok to stream YouTube on own device. The TV channels were terrible in terms of static and the TV remote batteries were dead. Other than a few minor issues it's a fantastic location with great staff and still definitely worth the price.
