The food here is really nice. The Ramen and soup is really good too. Love their Karaka Ramen especially. The spiciness and the hot soup just makes everything better. The fried chicken is really nice too. Crispy, soft, and juicy.

Have the Karaka Special ramen, food is at the higher standard so as the price. The broth is rich and nice, had the option with hard noodle.

Most Expensive but Best Ramen Place in Penang. Why Best? Taste LESS RICH yet BALANCED than Menya Miyabi which is an authentic small Ramen joint specialising in Ramen. Its my 2nd visit here & my 1st visit is at Gurney Mall. The standard is consistent in both places, good food with service attentive to details, a sign that the brand is reliable.

Food wise, coming with my chef husband usually is very very hard to please, especially his taste bud in terms of food. Must-try “HARD” Ramen noodles as this is the authentic way ramen noodles are served, it is a perfectly standard “al-dente” bite. Providing 4 different degrees of texture to the noodles shows how the brand is attentive to your personal preference especially Penang people who like "SOFT" noodles. Soup taste is the winning factor for me personally, I must highlight that there is depth towards the broth, with front palette moderate rich salty umami (not too rich like Menya Miyabi) and back aftertaste of umami sweetness that makes me finish the whole bowl of soup. You can't even find this depth of soup taste in a fine dining restaurant sometimes, personally I think this is the reason why Ippudo is the best place to get ramen in Penang. Fried Rice is really with "wok hei", a really standard way of doing it but not the best, can improve further. Adding fancy things like egg roe on top is definitely not helping. Consider not bad as most F&B franchises will not even pass for selling fried rice, which is more or less like "stir rice" instead of "fried rice".

Serving Size wise, it's slightly less in portion which I would appreciate if they could make it up more in portion, so not too much profit minded. A little goes a long way. But I could understand it, coming out from a higher price point, encouraging you to order other dishes to complete your meal so revenue is higher for each customer.

Service wise, very attentive to details. We come with a 1+ year old toddler. The high chair is made of strong wood instead of flimsy plastic, very clean, comes with safety belt which the other places don’t usually that gave us a peace of mind while dining. Service staff gave us a beigh color pencil and Ippudo drawing paper which has a kids menu on top of it. I applaud the detail as the toddler is kept busy while waiting for serving. The service staffs came to check us several times during dining, once every 5-10 mins which I also appreciate.

Price wise, would not need any elaboration as it is indeed high with what we ordered. I would say the price is relatively acceptable for those who shop in malls often.

Ippudo is a pretty good and standard ramen place with a lot of broth options. I like the spicy broth too. Price is of course higher but that will be the case for all good quality ramen.

There is also other options such as sashimi and rice options. Food is served fast. Oh there is bean sprouts in the ramen. Be sure to order without bean sprouts if you prefer so.

Ordered the classic ramen Shiro and Umakara Cheese (Seasonal menu)
Turns out the cheese ramen taste good. The cheese is well blend with the soup. Didn't take overly cheesy.
The classic ramen tastes great too. The service crew is very helpful especially Jane. She explains the meal and the membership very detail.

The 10 slices sashimi look so good! It was presented so well on ice! The egg roll is very affordable too. Will visit again!

Always a delight eating Ippudo's Karaka Ramen (RM32). For those that are looking for something similar to Ichiran then go with this dish. The noodle is thin type and shown here is the Normal noodle texture with Level 1 spiciness. You may also request for additional raw press garlic to add some oomph.
