The jewelry store was part of the shopping tour. I was rushed to buy this precious stone by my dear cousin because she wanted me to have the same stone as hers. I got this beautiful 18 stone necklace but I had to return it the following day because I realized I didn’t really want it. The manager Dante was very sweet and kind giving me a refund even when the receipt said they don’t accept returns, only exchange. He even arranged free transportation for us and served refreshment. He is an excellent manager. I highly recommend this store for great customer service!

My husband and I went to the jewelry store, Matis (no H) and were not disappointed. Saw lovely jewelry and purchased a beautiful diamond necklace and I have every reason to believe that it was worthy of the price. On retrospect I decided that a had a couple of other diamond necklaces and probably this one was not enough different than one I had at home. I did return it and no questions asked except, why did I want to return it? That is not an unreasonable question. They did take it back, said I would receive a letter by email the next day agreeeing to returning my money in 10-15 days.

That is exactly what happened. The charge for the exact same amount was a credit on my charge.

I would go there again to look at jewelry. I did buy another item and I am pleased with that.

Absolutely the most amazing place for beautiful quality jewels and gemstones. Museum quality pieces and rare finds! Reasonable too.

I purchased a ring at this store and when I there and was told it was rose gold..ends up it is silver with rose gold coating. In order to get the ring sized the coating will come off and I will end up with a silver ring.
Not impressed and for sure would not recommend this store.

We weren’t suppose to go here but I ended up buying a chain I was looking to buy since I broke mine last year. Also bought a opal pendent which I love. Very reasonable prices.

The store has some decent jewelry and some costume jewelry. Ask detailed questions about silver/gold plating and authenticity of stones. Stay away from the color changing "Mayan" stone....it's more than likely glass. My husband purchased a ring with the mysterious stone and his finger turned green the next day. He complained with our tour coordinator and Matise Jewelry brought a replacement to our hotel. My husband was allowed to keep the original and the replacement...if the stone was real I don't think he would be allowed to keep both 😕

We went here on a tour recommended by Amstar. Bought too much, but we could have said no. I like my ring, real or not. Haven't checked into it, and probably will not. Guess you get what you pay for. Beware, but fun to look around.

We purchased 2 yellow gold plated rings April 2022. The rings were not cheap. They told us they do some special plating process that will prevent tarnishing. It's August and the rings are now silver now. We only wear them on special occasions... Don't bother with the plating option.

SCAM, DON'T BUY anything here!!!! I was on vacation march 10 -15, 2021. On March 12th, during the tour Matis is the first drop off. I was given the background of this place which is beautiful. How each piece is hand made, how it take many hours to complete one piece of jewelry, and how each stone is securely placed by hand. I was shown some beautiful pieces. I found the infinity ring with white topaz. I bought the ring for the price they asked $260 USD! My sales guy took my ring to be inspected to ensure the stones were protected and secure. I was ready to purchase but i had credit card issues. The credit card company put a block. Anyway the manager suggested i finish my tour and once it ends my sales guy would follow me to my hotel and i could complete my purchase with him. I found that odd but good customer service. All went well and I bought the ring. March 15th a stone is missing. I want my money back!

Beware, this is no more than a scam.

Long story short :
We went there with a group on our way to Playa del Carmen.
While we knew their jewelry wasn't anything that would be great quality, my wife found a ring she liked regardless, at a pretty acceptable price, 100$ USD.

She's worn the ring for two hours and lost four "jewels" on it. She then decided that the wanted her money back rather than trying to get it repaired, it would be bound to become worse anyway.
So we went back, argued and gave them the ring with a receipt "proving" that they would give us our money within the next 5 days.

It's now been almost two weeks, i can't reach anybody, can't talk to anybody and have not been given my money back
They even made fun of us for not buying something more expensive

So i'm now with visa, they will reimburse our purchase and i'll fight my heart out so that they don't have credit cards there.

Scammers, don't buy anything

TOTAL SCAM. Fake stones, and all items started falling apart within 4 hours. Zero customer service. Warranty is only valid in store. So if you don't live close by don't buy anything. Actually, don't buy anything because it is fake and will fall apart. Buyer beware.

Don't go on the free trip to playa del carmen with tui . It stops at this jewlers and if you don't do the tour of their shop they send you back to your hotel in a taxi at your own expense and tell you this in a very intimidating manner. We felt very uncomfortable and wish we had never gone on the tui free trip. It ruined our last day of our holiday . We won't holiday in Mexico again.

As everyone says - tourist scam. Do not accept a “free” excursion that includes a stop at this place. It will not be worth your time. We gave up a relaxing day at our resort for a terrible excursion that included a stop at this place. The sales tactics here are pushy and tacky. The jewerly looks very cheap and outdated.
