Playa Chemuyil

Was here 4 years ago, has changed but still looks beautiful, just wish they would clear the beach more and hadnt moved so much sand :( supposed to be a sanctuary for Turtles. Saw the photos people have posted - It beats me how the turtles can climb on the sand in places ? why take away the sand ?????? Some photos were from 2 years ago

Great beach that has a verity of terrain and weather! I 100% recommend this beach!

Actually thought this beach was called xcacet beach. However its a fantastic beach if you like unspoilt nature and quiet with the sound of the sea.

Its a turtle sanctury so please respect it if you go. Its open 10am to 4pm. There are make shift shelters made of palm trees, get there early to get the best one. The entry fee is 80 pesos each but worth it to help the turtles.

You are not supposed to eat on the veach bit everyone seems to. There are no shops or sellers so take all your water and snacks. What a fantastc place though!!

The hotel also offered a range of activities and entertainment, from live music and dance shows to beach volleyball and water aerobics. It is perfect for those who want to stay active during their vacation, or for those who simply want to relax and unwind.
Whether you're looking to relax and soak up the sun on the beach or you're eager to explore the area, there is something for everyone. You can enjoy the crystal clear waters of the bay.

Amazing

The beach has been accessible only by walking from the northern beaches since 1998. This used to be my favorite childhood spot in the late 1980's. Back then it used to be a camping site managed by the locals from Chemuyil. They had clean services available for families. I have the fondest memories from this place. It breaks my heart to see how these natural beauties are not preserved for the sake of some foreign company profiting from our nature. However, don't feel discouraged to visit. Even if in the area there is a new hotel, there is no such thing as a private beach legally speaking. All beaches in Mexico are of public domain and no one can kick you out because they think they own the beach. Please take care of the beaches and pick up after yourselves.

Wonderful beach, go early (10am) before it's getting crowded. Closed on Mondays.

Una de las mejores playas de la riviera Maya alejada del bullicio de otras, ideal para snorkeling por su aguas tranquilas, es además un santuario de tortugas, no permiten el acceso a comida y bebidas, cuenta con servicio de regaderas y baños, tampoco alquilan sombrillas ni camastros, por lo que es recomendable llevar la suya
No hay restaurante ni tienda. La última tienda está en el pueblo de chemuyil o en una gasolinera
Para llegar sobre la carretera en dirección a Tulum pasando Akumal se encuentra el pueblo de chemuyil, ( donde se puede comprar, comida o bebida) pasando el puente a unos 500 mts tomar el primer retorno en dirección a playa y meterse en un camino de terracería y a otros 500 se encuentra la entrada

Es Xcacel ó Xcacelito, pero muy muy bonita playa/santuario de tortugas!!
