The best meal I have had in Mexico. Great staff. Beautiful presentation. Amazing salsas. These guys are making their Grandparents proud.

Amazingly delicious food & huge portions! We had heard that everyone orders too much food here, and we still made the same mistake, but every bite was so good. The chimichanga, as others have mentioned, comes with the most beautiful & fresh salad. The tacos were great, too! We tried a variety of different ones and loved them all. This food felt like the most gourmet food we ate in Yelapa, which made the very inexpensive prices all the more surprising. It's clear a lot of thought goes into the food here. They were also very nice, and it was a great atmosphere with beautiful views! Lots of options for cocktails!

Wow! One of our favorite meals on our Mexico vacation. Fresh, flavorful, pretty, and a great family-style atmosphere. The intensely flavored grilled shrimp tacos and the little side salads with hibiscus that come with some of the choices were stand outs. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Everyone recommended this restaurant & now I understand why!. We ordered octopus, marlin, and mixed seafood tacos & and have so much flavor and authentic taste.

The place was getting busy when we arrived around 5:45pm. It's clean and has a view to the ocean.

Thank me later.

Get there before they open. There will be a line. There is always a line. Cash only. It’s the best food that we found in Yelapa. Giant portions.

Casa Abuela felt like a fancy restaurant with a McDonald’s price point. The food was delicious and the ambience of the place was just so beautiful with a view of the river. We chose this place as our final dinner and it was such an excellent choice.

Really wonderful, fresh ingredients. The salads are surprisingly great, which is rare for a Mexican restaurant. Handmade tortillas and a wonderful atmosphere mean this is a busy restaurant with good reason. Get there early to get a spot. Service is friendly but can be a bit slow.

We have eaten here on several occasions during our two visits to Yelapa. The food is of a quality that would compete with any major city, at very affordable prices. The service is great. This is a highly recommended venue if you are in Yelapa for dinner.

Footnote: I notice some comments below about the service. Agreed it can be a little slow at times, but seriously you’re in Yelapa - where else do you need to go? Chill out and enjoy your holiday. The wait time at the door can also be eliminated if you book. Fast food culture has a lot to answer for.

This place is a hidden gem in Yelapa! Can be hard to find: you have to go through an alley besides the laundromat.

The restaurant is extremely clean and well kept. You can see the kitchen from the dining area and you can even watch the cute lady making homemade blue corn tortillas!

The food here is amazing!

We shared the deep fried goat cheese salad. It was so fresh and tasty. So many flavors paired well together. I absolutely love deep fried balls of goat cheese.

Grilled shrimp taco was my favorite item on the menu. The seafood in Yelapa is so fresh. The tacos come with a tray of four separate condiments. I liked the chipotle mayo looking one and creamy green one because they weren't too spicy for me.

I also had the octopus and shrimp pastor. Both good but grilled shrimp is the way to go!

My boyfriend has the beef quesadilla. The cheese they use is delicious and the beef was tender and juicy.

For drinks we had the pina colada (so creamy), caddilac margarita (bf loved it), mango margarita (they use fresh mangos), and tamarind margarita (something unique to try if you like sweet salty and spicy).

I highly recommend coming here right when it opens at 5pm as it got quite busy!

Absolutely delicious. This was by far one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. We had the shrimp and noodle salad, the octopus salad and shrimp diavlo tacos. Every bite was more delicious than the last. Many thanks to the staff of this great restaurant!!!

In this simple town, is a restaurant doing things with salads we have never experienced. Each is dramatically different, involves fresh seafood and a mix of items you would never think of.

It’s magic!

If we never make it to Yelapa again I know this will be the one thing we know we won’t find again.

And yes, grandmother making fresh tortillas for simple mouthwatering tacos is an artist.

This place is a gem not to be missed.

Wine selection and cocktails below average but that’s to be expected in this community. The fabulous food gets your mind twisted and hopeful about the wine.

Hands down the BEST meal we have had in Mexico! EVERYONE in Yelapa told us about this place and it EXCEEDED our expectations. Truly incredible food! In a major metropolitan area, this would still rank as a top culinary experience.

Incredible food at an incredible price! We loved the tacos, blue corn shells made fresh in house, the house salad with hibiscus dressing, and chimichangas. Highly recommend the octopus tacos (cooked perfectly) as well as the steak/beans tacos. The ocean views are gorgeous as well.

This is a hidden gem… we’re looking forward to coming back for breakfast. One of the best restaurants of our trip!

This place is amazing, one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The salad with crab cakes and grilled pineapple is so good we got it twice, on two different nights. The chimichangas are delicious and also come with a side salad. And the prices are totally reasonable. Go here.

Great place with delicious food! Had the Diablo shrimp taco and pulpo (octopus) taco and both were fabulous plus a tamarind margarita (sin alcohol). Was there on a Friday night and they had a great duo for live music as well!

Best tacos ever! Ate there two nights in a row. The freshly made blue corn tacos are remarkable and naturally gluten free. The service was excellent, including catering to my partner's very particular dietary needs. Can be a bit tricky to find, but super worth it!

The best meal I've had in 5 visits to Mexico, and really one of my top 10 restaurant meals ever. And to consider it was in a remote village and cost a whopping $7 is crazy. (But, granted, I'm just a random low-class guy who likes Mexican food)

This is the best food I’ve ever had in my life!!! We ate here all three nights in Yelapa and I am grateful for the experience. Everything is so fresh and made to order, including the amazing blue corn tortillas hand made by the abuela herself. Everything was incredible- make sure to not skip out on the salads! At the very least get one to pass around. My favorites were the diabla shrimp, Caesar shrimp, and the arugula with rice noodles/apricot chipotle dressing. Eat here, you won’t be disappointed!!! I hope to some day go back.
