We didn't know what to do when we got off the ship. Someone came on the bus and explained the tour options. We did the $10 one. We enjoyed Vincent. He was informative and funny. The driver was great also. We enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, it was too hot and we went back to the ship. We did get some shopping done at the bus stop bodegas.

I decided to go on the open-air bus tour through the town, and was absolutely pleased with my experience. For $18, it was a pretty inexpensive way to see the town and learn so much about the town and the people there. Our tour guide was very informative and entertaining, and we got to see so way more than I would have been able to see if I just walked or took a cab.
Our tour guide informed us that the town was very safe and we were able to walk around afterwards without worry, and they told us where to go to shop and eat without being upcharged by tourist companies (and instead spending our money with the locals who actually need it). I had a blast on this tour and would strongly recommend this to anyone wanting to check out the town.
After the tour, I had plenty of time to walk around among the locals, shop, eat amazing and authentic Mexican food (for a great bargain too!), and check out the beach before having to head back to the ship. I felt totally safe waking around town by myself and was blown away with the hospitality and friendliness of the locals.

$25 pesos for bus ride from Merida to Progreso. Ride was about 45 minutes

We had a great time on the tour. Fernando was absolutely amazing. They information he gave during the tour was really good, made you think and view things differently as well. He was funny, engaging, knowledgeable about the city etc. I would 10/10 recommend taking this tour and 100/100 recommend taking the tour is Fernando is the guide.

Excellent Tour! We started at 10am and were transported in a private air conditioned van that was new, clean and spacious. Our Tour Guide, Vicente, was a friendly and informative, as he is a native of Merida. Our tour took us to Ruins, where Vicente provided us with tons of information. We were then transported to Downtown Merida city, where its beautiful and so antique. We ate at a patio restaurant where the food was delicious (which I remembered name, but Vicente will know). We were then toured around the city a little more and taken back to our cruise port, on time and for the fraction of the cost of the cruise excursion.

The tour for the price was great! Went through all parts of town. The tour guide even showed us how to dance on the bus.

A good bus service between Mérida and Progreso for 25 pesos each way. Busses every 10-15 minutes from 6am to 10pm and they have several stops both in Mérida and Progreso. From the terminal in Centro in Mérida to Progreso, it's about 1 hour. You can look up the stops on Moovit app under the "line" Mérida-Progreso and pay cash if getting on the bus in Merida not at the terminal... if there is space. Legroom can be a bit small if you are taller than 5'6" but you can make it work. Last row of seats at the back have more legroom.

Great bus terminal and short waiting time unless you ride in the evening. Just be prepared to wait 30 minutes after 6pm

Our tour guide, Lea, was super fun and friendly. She gave a great personal introduction to Progreso and you could feel her love for the city and the people.

Fantastic taking you back and forth to married to every 15 minutes for 22 pesos. Even can bring your bike back and forth underneath the bus for 20 more pesos. I appreciate this bus line so much

The bus transportation was great. Clean bus. Friendly, safe drivers.
The excursion lady at the exit that offers beach facilities for $15 and unlimited drinks for another $15 WAS SHADY AF. THEY DIDN'T TELL ANYONE THAT IT IS GOOD FOR 3 HOURS. SHE WAS NOWHWERE TO BE FOUND WHEN WE ALL GOT BACK. the couple that was behind us never got a warning about the 3 hours. They just let their tab run up and threaten to call the cops 🚓 🚔 if they didn't pay!!! What is THAT BS?!?! how can the bus terminal allow this to continue to happen at their facility. I trusted them bc they were in the bus station selling these. It's bs and all I have to say, I'm glad I didn't take the bs. I wasn't paying anything after all that I have given them including a massage. Please beware of many many scammers 😢

For $1.20 US or $1.65 CDN from Centro Merida to Centro Progeso it can't be beat.

The bus is a clean, comfortable,
and affordable way to travel to and from Merida to Progreso. The cost is only 42 pesos round trip or you can purchase a one way for less. The way to Merida is usually less full than traveling back. Also if you are traveling to Centro, you need to allow for stops along the until you leave Merida. It’s perfect for a stop to Gran Plaza to pay Telcel etc.

Quick and easy. Buses have AC which is great.
