A real immersion in a huge local market: inside a bazar where you you can find everything (from China).
Outside on the plaza, a food market with street food.
During 3 h, I have seen only local people.

Come here in the morning and you can try the various sweets that are sold just outside of the market.
The brown sweets made of string beans and toddy palm sugar were not too sweet and had a consistency similar to honeycomb.
The market itself felt much more relevant for local customers than Scotts Market in Yangon.

Zay Cho is one of our eye candies as usual. In these days, most of the people are difficult to survive according to the recent conditions such as inflation rate. No matter how worse it is, Zay Cho is still essential for 75% people in MANDALAY.

This is the best place to shop in Myanmar for fabric. This is a local market not necessarily for tourists items. If you're looking for Burmese longyi's I recommend getting them here. The prices were better than in Bagan and Yangon. Most shop keepers I met did not speak English. I used Google translate and a calculator to communicate and negotiate prices. There is an upstairs sectors with people who can mend and sew to finish the longyi's. Bring cash as debit and credit cards won't be accepted.

This is the biggest market is Mandalay City. You can buy everything there.Prices aren't quite expensive.Around market, you can taste Myanmar Traditional food and drink.Near market, there is a clock tower that was built by mixing Eastern And Western eastern and western architecture.
All of people in this city rely on this market.

Spend an hour (or five!) walking through the maze of vendors selling anything and everything. You'll be sure to find something special to bring home.

Zay Cho Market is an interesting market, selling nearly all ranges of products for home consumption. Inside the building, there are many stalls with clothings, fabrics, spices etc... But out of the building, there are rows of perishables like fruits and vegetables, chicken, fishes etc all being lined up along the road. Very busy at early morning...

Now this is a proper old school Myanmar Marketplace there are very few places left in the world where you will find a market like this that has produce and vegetables from the farms and clothes made by local Merchants as well as Fabrics imported from India and China it's an amazing and crazy place and if you go there just the right time of day the lighting is amazing and the colors are out of this world

It definitely worths a visit if you are in Mandalay! You can observe the simple burmese people doing their everyday shopping there and you can find all kind of stuff in very good prices. I was the only tourist in the area for as long as I stayed there. However, do check in advance with your hotel/hostel staff the hours that the market is open! Following google suggestions that it opens at 6:00, I arrived there at 7:30, only to discover that the market opens its bars at 8:00, even for the vendors. I left before 9:00 and almost half of the shops were remaining closed!

A huge market in Mandalay!!!
You can nearly find everything in here.
You can buy food, fruits, vegetables and more. Vegetables are really cheap. Fruits are very fresh. Notice that they have a dayoff following to their myanmar calandar.(dayoff is different every week, you would better ask the locals)

Being the image of Mandalay, this, I think, is a must for all the visitors. We can get a different variety of goods at reasonable prices. If you are good at haggling, you can buy various local products with the cheapest prices tag. :-)
