U Nar Out Pagoda

U Na Out Pagoda aka U Na Auk Monastery & Shrines in Mon State is a large complex of shrines in a variety of architectural styles. The architectural styles are varied and the interior and exterior walls are covered with ornate and intricate wood carvings, gilded relief works, glass mosaics, carved and painted floral arches in plaster, etc. Indeed a microcosm of Mon styles through the ages. The tut tut ride was fairly long but it was well worth the trip.

It is a historical site of Nai Auk Pagoda (U Nar Out Pagoda) at a Mon village on east bank of up-stream of Salween Rive. It is about 30 minute drive from Mawlamyine. Nai Auk was a rich man who was born to Mon nationality during British colonial period in Burma. He donated his wealth to this temple for a good merit when he was being alive. So that complex had been well known as Nai Auk Pagoda or Nai Auk Historical Site.
