I had a great 3-day valley trek with Trekking Morocco Mountains and my guide Abdou (and our cook Ibrahim!). I booked this quite last minute, and the communication before the first day of hiking was all clear, flexible, and friendly - the person worked with me to figure out the best itinerary for my interests, and I was very excited for the trip!

For the three days themself, the hikes were really beautiful, with about 650 - 800m elevation and 9 - 12km distance each day. This was actually a bit too "easy" for me - I'd be interested in more technical or longer hikes on a future trek. However, the routes themselves were really spectacular, and Abdou was an amazing guide. He knew every path on those mountains (having grown up in the Atlas Mountains and being a guide for 17 years, he really was an expert). I learned a lot not only about the geography, but also about the people living in the villages and their way of life.

Food and sleep are very basic, but that's what I was looking for on this tour!

Final note - I went in early October 2023, only a couple weeks after the earth quake that occured in the region. We hiked through damaged villages, and past a lot of people living in tents becuase their homes were not safe. This was a sad but eye-opening aspect of the experience, and although I had mixed feelings booking a trek in this region so soon after a natural disaster, after speaking with Abdou and other locals, my presence was welcome (and my €€ needed), and things were safe and settled. In case you're wondering about the safety of traveling to the area now, I felt very safe during the whole trip.

I would highly recommend booking with Trekking Morocco Mountains, and I will be back!

In order to be able to visit this place, you must first be athletic and have a lot of energy to climb the heights 😂😂😂, I'm just kidding 🤭, in fact you will see the beauty of this place in the peaks of the heights And you will also see the beauty of distributing old buildings and houses along the mountains 😍😍 The people of this region are Berbers, and they love to eat tagine with meat and vegetables, it tastes delicious 😋

Very doable without a guide. Hiked from Imlil to Mouflons refuge, and summit toubkal the next morning. Leave very early to do it in the shade. We walked back to Imlil the same day. It took us 12hrs up, down and back. Be prepared for extreme heat this time of year.

Great company and excellent organisation, very informative with experienced guides, Chef was excellent and overall a fantastic holiday if you like this type of thing. Read on for more details.

I am a UK resident, keen on trekking mountains, I Completed Scafel Pike (978m), Snowdon (1085m) & Ben Nevis (1345m). I Needed to take on higher and more challenging peaks. Jebel Toubkal (4167 meters) was a great choice.
TIP: Altitude sickness is real, it didn't affect me but my friend vomited 3 times (Luckily on the way down otherwise the trek to the summit would have been cancelled.
This was my first time so after a little research I chose this company, they were very informative answered all my relevant questions and kept me updated via email.
A taxi with the mountain guide collected us as planned 08.30 from our hotel & took us to Imlil where we sorted our luggage into what we wanted to carry and what we wanted to send with the Mule to the refuge. After some mint tea we set off.
Our guide was Mr Abdul Latif and our Chef was Abdullah. They were assigned to us right the way through til the end.
TIP: Make sure you have your passports (The police will request them before you start the ascent) and small change to purchase freshly squeezed orange juice along the way. Price of water as at 17/09/2019 was 10 dh for a 1.5litre bottle in Imlil and 15dh at the refuge. You can get snacks and drinks & toilets (hole in the floor squat down-but better then nothing) literally every 90 minutes all the way up to the refuge, Orange juice was 10dh a glass.
Lunch at 2.5 hours prepared by our Chef Abdullah.
After 5 hours The refuge is a sight for sore eyes, its very basic with wooden bunk beds and overcrowded but warm shower and toilets. Don't expect to sleep as people are always walking in and out etc. and we planned to leave for the summit at 03.30 the following day (To catch the sun rising from the top)
TIP: Gloves, head lamp (pitch dark- even with the full moon) and warm clothes are essential, I forgot my gloves so was advised by our guide Abdul Latif to use 2 pairs of socks as a substitute for gloves. Seriously the wind chill hurts.
The summit was beautiful, the sunrise was amazing, The wind was freezing and the decent was painful, I fell on my backside 6 times, (the terrain of small stones slipping on the dirt track was challenging).
I cant wait to save up and do it again. If you don't feel physically able to do the whole lot, you can ride on a mule between Imlil and the refuge 150dh each mule one way.
TIP: The mule walks the same route, cliff edge and its heart stoppingly scary, I'd prefer to walk myself. There's plenty of vids on youtube, I'm editing my own GoPro version to add to those. Keep an eye out.
We spent the 2nd night in a hostel at Imlil, toured the city that was victim to flash flooding 2 weeks earlier (01.09.19) and were dropped back to our hotel in Marrakesh by the guide (Abdul Latif).
ENJOY!!!

That's a great experience, don't miss it in case you are in Marrakech. Combination of the green mountain of high Atlas and the start of Sahara desert. You will meet the Berber people and their original tijin pot food. Wearing long sleeve shirt, pants and a pair of sneakers will help. The trekking on the mountain is a bit hard so avoid elder and young people. Riding a camel is a roller coaster experience in case you have the crazy one. Don't miss that chance for adventure.

Amazing experience with these guys, easy to organize and fair price. We chatted for days trough what's app before we booked everything and they were always nice.
Our guide Rachid and is right hand man Lahcen were really the best. They guided us trough 6 days of trekking and we made it to the summit of Mont Toubkal. The food was great , some days were challenging, it was the perfect balance. We loved every seconds of it. Thank you so much again guys!

Magnificent trek circles the Toubkal massif, crossing high passes between oasis-valleys with their mud-brick semi-fortified traditional Berber villages and high valleys with patches of summer pasture.

Very nice place to visit it is 1 hour drive from Marrakech. Good food you can buy meat and gave to restaurant next door to cook for you. Issue with water and toilet still need improvement. But is good place to spend one day .

Honestly, set a day aside to go on a tour through the more native parts of Morocco and the mountains. You will never regret it. But one thing to note is that make sure you take appropriate footwear. My wife wore boots with heels and lets just say we were always playing catch up with the rest of the group. 🤦‍♂

An amazing experience. Local guides and people are very helpful. Would highly recommend for those who love climbing mountains - only suitable for those with high fitness levels or have climbed difficult mountians regularly.
