We had a very good time in the berber family lodge with good Moroccan food and beautiful views. Unfortunately I had forgotten money in one of the rooms. The next day I called them and the money was brought to Marrakech by car the next day. I haven't experienced such friendliness in a long time and can only recommend this accommodation and the hosts!

We had a wonderful experience at Berber family lodge. Excellent treatment, delicious food, and of course the best views from the terrace. Hassan and Mohamed were very helpful, and organised transport, as well as showed us a great hike which we could do without a guide. We would happily return again in the future!

Unbelievable place to stay. Highly recommended for hikers keen to climb Toubkal along with anyone interested in visiting markets or sellers as Ourika, a local town, has tonnes and much better prices than central Marrakesh. Mohammed and his family were amazing hosts and took really good care of us.

Mohamed and his family couldn’t have done more to make our stay warm and welcoming, full of authentic food and ambience. The rooms are comfortable and give a true feeling of a Berber home. Mohamed organised food for us on one of our first days at a local cafe and said it was his gift to us !!... the children of the family are a delight 😊... we saw carpets being made at the women’s community space, and my husband climbed Toubkal all organised by Mohamed. We were very sad to leave as we really felt like we had been trying with family a tear 😢 or two might of been shed on departure.

If you are looking for a taste of Morocco, look no further ! Xxx

Clean, friendly, yummy food, super comfortable beds, amazing value....

I really loved this place, they can also organise trekking for you. The place-very beautiful, warm and the food was very delicious. Our guide was really great, young boy, he spoke English and French and was like a friend that came with us. Everyone was kind with us. I would love to come back.

Amazing experience staying at the Berber Family Lodge! The staff were very friendly and our rooms were clean. They have warm blankets and the rooms have a mini split so you don’t have to worry about being cold after hiking in the mountains all day. This is a very accessible location for hiking in the area and has great views of the mountains! I was there for two nights and went hiking each day and when I got back my group and I were provided with amazing chicken tajine for supper. Nothing beats the cozy atmosphere and great food with great people. It’s absolutely affordable and definitely worth it to come here. I would recommend at least two or three days, but you could absolutely stay longer as there’s plenty of hiking to be had, especially if you want to build your stay around hiking Toubkal, you could spend a day or two hiking the smaller hikes in the area, and then go on a program for summiting and then come back two days later for a rest day before heading out. I would hope to return to do that myself, I HIGHLY recommend coming here!

What an amazing experience ! The lodge is located in a really tiny village near Imlil far away from Marrakech agitation. The place is so peacefull and the view is unforgetteable.
If you are sleeping in the lodge I highly recomend to have diner : It is a great experience ! We had this soup and tasty chicken tajine in the diner room with others guests illuminated by some candles … So peacefull!
If you don’t plan to hike the Toubkal mount, there is a really accessible hile of 1 hour.

We stayed here the last 2 nichts with my parents. We really enjoyed our stay. The terrace is very beautiful. The food was nice and the rooms clean and cozy. Also the staff was very friendly and also communication before arrival was good. We also liked the location a bit outside of imlil where its more quiet and relaxing after a day hiking.
Thanks a Lot..we will come back:)

This was the perfect place to stay for 4 days with my husband. The staff were humble and kind and the lodge is down the valley a little ways before imlil town centre but this gives the best view of Toubkal. The rooftop and verandahs had very comfortable rugs to sit on. The dinner was amazing and traditional. The rooms were tidy and clean. 5 star service !!!! Loved every bit of it

I started off my Moroccan trip at the lodge and I couldn't be more happier! Straight away you're welcomed with a gorgeous view of the Atlas mountains with Moroccan mint tea. My room was very clean, comfortable and of course walking up every morning with that view and the fresh mountain air is great for the soul. Mohammed, Hassan and the family have created a beautiful and authentic temporary home for their guests with excellent hospitality. The hikes were easily arranged via Mohammed. Also as a female solotraveller I felt very safe and comfortable. My 2 guides Rdouane and Hassan were excellent and easily adapted to my level and interests, they are both local: born and raised in Imlil. I've learnt a lot about the mountains, the villages, Amazigh people and culture. From what I saw, the Amazigh are very friendly, welcoming and I urge everyone to visit the area and stay at the lodge. Tanmirt Berber Family Lodge!

We really enjoyed our short visit 6 months ago. I am devastated about the news of the earthquake. Does anyone know how the villagers are doing?

Forget about Marrakech, go to Imlil!

Mohammed, his family and Hassan made our days in Imlil, the highlight of our vacation. We spend 3 nights at the lodge. We stayed in 2 different rooms, because we didn't plan at first to stay that long. But Mohammed accommodated us the best way he could. Both rooms were clean and great but we liked better the room in the terasse, big and cozy with balcony and all the terrace was for us alone and from where, you can hear the water running in the creek. The other room was very confy and clean for one night, a little bit dark though. The food was delicious, the breakfast was yummy, maybe coffee needs improvement, the tea was better. The smiling and kind Hassan was always there if we needed more food or anything else. He also helped us with our luggage. It was also nice to experience being in a mountain village, talk with the nice friendly people of the village and also observe their daily life.Mohammed organizes hikings in the area, but we didn't participate as we wanted to save our energy for the big hike to Toubkal . We did walk the first day to the center of Imlil not on the road but through the trees, smaller villages and crossing the creek. And it was a very nice, easy 1 hour walk. In June, it's the cherries season, cherry trees have ripe fruits ready to be eaten 😋. on the way, there were many men collecting the 🍒 cherries. One guy saw us and offered us free cherries. Mohammed organized our Toubkal hike, dropped us to the place to meet our guide, if you forget anything you need for hiking, he can also organize it. It was the greatest experience with our guide Mustapha and his brother Said and the poor mule which carried luggages and food. Our guide Mustapha is a happy man and made our experience happier. Our hike to Toubkal was not the easiest, but Moustapha was very patient and very helpful. Mohammed booked also for us a private room for a night in the refuge, `les Moufflons' where we had a very nice friendly experience and where everything was very well organized given the count of mountain hikers who needed to be fed .
Imlil is a very nice green, tourist friendly town, hassle-free, it's not far from Marrakech 1h30 drive. Even if you don't want to hike, do not hesitate to spend a day or two in Imlil, for its greenness and running waters, as a mountain town, for its beautiful villages, for its simple and friendly people. On your way to Imlil, plan to stop for one hour or two, in the most beautiful park "ANIMA" of the Austrian Artist André Heller. Marrakech is overrated but Imlil is worth a lot more. We will come back for hiking in the area, and we will stay again at Mohammed's Berber family lodge. CHOUKRAN Mohammed, vielen, vielen Dank, see you again

We did a day trip from Marrakech to the Atlas mountains through Berber Family Lodge and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We were traveling with our 11 month old, so appreciated the drive up in modern, spacious, car seat friendly van. Once we arrived, we were greeted by Mohammed, who took us on a short-but-beautiful hike from Imlil to his village. There we enjoyed a fantastic meal with a gorgeous view of the mountains above a small valley. Mohammed and his family were incredibly kind and accommodating, keeping our little girl entertained and telling us all about the history of the region and about daily life in the villages. Mohammed is also a strong supporter of education for Berber women, and explained how some of the proceeds from our visit would go towards financing that effort. Our trip was short but sweet - can't recommend Mohammed and his family enough
