Turaida Castle

The viewpoint from the tower was amazing. The castle is nice, I liked the garden. There are some nice art galleries, where you can buy hand-made jewelry and other souvenirs.

Such a beautiful place we didn't allow ourselves enough time here it is truly spectacular lots of walks to do around the castle and area

Turaida Castle is a recently reconstructed medieval castle in Turaida, in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, on the opposite bank of the Gauja River from Sigulda.
It's an amazing experience visiting the castle in autumn. With changing colors, falling leaves, slight cold air, and the breathtaking view from the top of the castle take you to another level. Must visit spot in Latvia 🇱🇻

Beautiful castle and it does need you to walk a lot of stairs to reach the top tower but it's a beautiful view from there. There is an old church also here which has lot of ancient and antique things.

Went on wintery day. Parking is a bit tricky - need to park on other side of the road and pay. Plus not to park on bus parking. Nice view, interesting to walk and read about history. Recommended.

No doubt one of the highlights of Latvia. The tower is likely the most important tihing to visit there as it gives you beautiful view over surroundings. Easy parking nearby with possibility to pay by app or at ticket office.

You go there for the castle and you find much more fun at this complex. The castle has great towers and interesting exhibitions. The other buildings around the estate contain other exhibitions.

The castle is located in the very beautiful place, on top of the hill. I very recommend to climb into the tower. The view from there is breathtaking. It is 100m up from the river Gauja.

Very beautiful place, loved meticulously maintained grounds and walkways. Make sure you climb the tower itself for best views, no elevators there so be ready for a little work out. Definitely recommend stopping here.

There is a parking lot and a cafe nearby. The museum complex can be reached by bus N 5612 from the center of Riga. A bus ticket costs 2.65 euros. Entrance to the museum for an adult costs 6 euros, for pensioners 4.30 euros, for Ukrainians the entrance is free.

Beautiful partially restored castle seated on a wooded river valley. I think it is the best of the 3 castle ruins of Siguldas.

There are museum exhibitions in the restored sections of the castle. The highlight is the large tower that you can climb to the top and get a great view of the Latvian landscape.

The opening times are a bit misleading - 9-20 is just for the park and the main castle tower. All other buildings and the castle exposition room are opened from 10 to 18.
Anyway. Such a nice place to visit. Definitely worth a stop. We spent 2,5 hours here, but you could easily spend more time here - the park is huge and beautiful, there are many small trails down to the river, there is large interactive exposition in one of the houses about the 19th and 20th century Latvian history.
Ticket is 6 eur per person - very food value for money I think.

Beautiful castle, added with the snow it was very scenic. The ticket staff were nice and friendly and made things clear. The toilets were nice and warm which helped with the sub zero temperature and snow. Baby facilities for the little one too. There is a bus you can get from Sigulda bus station, but they aren't too frequent, see the times attached. It is totally worth the journey out there from Riga

If you like hiking and are not scared of walking for like an hour or two, then take the cable car from the Sigulda adventure and then once you reach the other side i.e. Krimulda side, then you can start walking towards the right towards the Gutman's cave and then keep walking towards the castle.

I advise you to visit this fortress museum. It will be interesting for both children and adults. Nearby there is a cafe where you can eat, there is a toilet at the entrance to the museum.

Great attraction! The castle was very nice. Great views from the top. Nice grounds to walk around and tons to see. The statue garden was beautiful. Make sure to go down the nature walk to see the cave at the bottom.

Absolutely breathtaking, so much rich history provided in many different languages it was so fascinating and had amazing presentation. This is full on medieval vibes, I’ve seen quite a few castles, medieval is not as easy to find and not always as authentic. This was a 10/10 experience for me. I honestly left feeling so honoured to have seen and learned what I had that day.

PS. If you don’t climb up that big red tower and you’re able to, you’re really missing out on one of the most mesmerising sights I’ve ever seen. A photo will never do it justice.

The tower was fine and interesting place to voisit and climb on. Hundreds of years old bilding has been built in amazing Latvian Mountain area. It was nice to see other People there too.
