My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at the castle. The views of the snowy forrest were beautiful and the history of the castle was very interesting. I also loved the ice sculptures. We would definitely recommend to visit, it is a short walk from the train station. The student tickets were also very affordable and the lady who sold them to us was very polite and helpful.

This is a lovely setting in the sunshine to explore the green space and visit some local history. The castle ruins are accessible and can be climbed to see views across the land. It doesn't take very long to see all of the castle, but the grounds are beautiful and you can explore further via footpaths. This was easily accessed from Riga by trains.

A nice ancient castle and surrounding buildings in a cozy small town. Fun to visit whether you're passing by or going there deliberately. Beautiful gardens as well and lots of parking spaces!

You can walk around the castle grounds a bit but going inside the historical building or crossing the bridge to castle proper costs. Students and kids get discounts or it's free, I don't quite remember.

Beautiful collection of historical buildings in gorgeous nature surroundings. Also an old cold war bunker to explore if you dare!!

Great visit here for castle needs. It is partially a ruin but there is enough left to enjoy. Easy train ride from Riga. The grounds are very well maintained and there are plenty of things to see here and enjoy. There is a viewpoint here with seating from which you can see Turaida Castle! It's really something to get the imagination going.

Beautiful location. See the ruins of the castle, but don't forget to wonder around the squares in front as well. Houses with craftsmanship items for sale.
Very good Ice-cream Coffee (not to mix up with Iced Coffee).

Especially in the summer months a lot of concerts and shows are given. Some have free entry, mostly the ones on Sunday morning.
Bring your own picnic stuff and enjoy the show.

Excellent experience, free entry to the old castle and €4-6 per adult for entry into the new castle. Polite and friendly staff, various workshops to browse and buy souvenirs. Educational leaflets to read, art installations, interactive audio visuals and art nouveau decor to admire inside the new castle.

Beautifully presented and wonderfully restored to the point where your imagination can help you refill the remaining missing pieces of puzzles.
Entry fee of 2€ is very minimal to enjoy and walk around the old architecture with views as wide and far across the Gauja River.

We had a very nice surprise exploring this ruin. Not only are there some great old buildings to walk through, but the views of the valley are exceptional!

The park and walkways through the forest around the castle is just as great to explore as the castle itself. This is our fifth visit and we still found new walks. The autumn colours make the whole valley spectacular, climbing the steep tracks is a must at this time of year and a most enjoyable family outing. You’ll discover new muscles in your legs and thighs the next day; be warned! 😄

A pleasant enough castle to visit, especially if you visit the neighbouring museum reserve. No direct bus route between the two, however you can walk down to the train station and catch a bus (infrequent times).

A very peaceful feeling here. Quiet but you can imagine defending the castle during this period. A superior location for defences! The surrounding forests and deep valleys stunning!

An eventful history has left castles around Sigulda, the most important of which is the recently recreated Turaida Castle.

Nice views around the castle to the Gauja national park. Some architectural decisions (growing trees around the boundaries of the castle) makes it possible to feel the size of the castle. Entrance price is 2e for adults, 1e for a discounted ticket (students, etc.) and 5e for a family ticket.

Great historical landmark to visit. The castle was built in 1207 by the Livonian Order. It now has been partially restored and is definitely worth a walk around.

There is also a tower were you can go up and get a view of the surrounding area and the 2nd castle across the river.

Cool castle in Sigulda.
It’s a bit far from the train/bus station but reachable within a 15 min walk
