A Lounge Hostel And Cafe

I had a private room with shared bathroom. It was super-clean and cosy. You can feel how much love the two owners (?) put into the place. The lady, who spoke better English, gave me lots of good advices for sightseeing etc. Food was also really good. Should I go back to Ella, I’d definitely come back here!!

Wow absolutely amazing please and very peaceful , that owner and staff also very kind and very friendly and very helpful , so thats is the good place of i found my whole life and i suggested to all dont worry go and enjoy there. Next time also i will go there and sspecially they had ayurvedic spa also its also fantastic.

I stayed at this newly opened hostel for a night and extended for another night - wished I could stay longer.

The location, decor, vibes and staff of A Lounge Hostel And Cafe was lovely. Not to forget their free breakfast (too good!)

Location - Located slightly off the main road, from the busy touristy area, I enjoyed the quietness of the hostel. Yet from the hostel I could also easily walk to the main road.

Decor - The wood nature theme of the hostel provided some sort of calmness like being in the nature. The view from the balcony was wonderful where I could watch children playing on the big field.

Staff - The family run hostel is such a lovely family. Each of them were very thoughtful and considerate to ensure I had a good and memorable stay, doing things beyond my requests like frequently asking if I wanted coffee or tea and asking if everything was going ok.

Highly recommended to give this place a try!

Beautiful hostel with separate stylish rooms, everything is really clean, big n nice bathrooms and very good hosts. Definitely recommended to stay here (especially as a group of travelers)

A Lounge is a very cool cafe and hostel located conveniently close to the main street and train station. The owners are so sweet and helpful with a calm temperament. The cafe is a relaxing place to hang out all day with games and a great menu of western-style drinks and food. The masala chai is the best we've had! Ordered it so many times during our week long stay here 😌 The wifi is excellent, which was important for us as we work online. You can also plug in your phone and play your own music if you like.

The decor of the hostel is bohemian and the many coloured lights give a great vibe I'm the evenings. There is a mini fridge which is also handy for storing fruit, curd and water. Beds have mosquito nets over them which is much needed! Bathrooms are great with good shower pressure and hot water. The breakfast in the mornings was also tasty and filling - American style pancakes/waffles and eggs. It's a nice change from the Sri Lankan breakfasts that we had had each day of our trip.

The only negative for us was the noise at night - being located so close to the town, there are 24 hour cafes that play music until the early hours, which made it difficult for us to sleep well. If you're going to be out partying though, this won't be an issue at all. It's of course no fault of the hostel but comes with being so close to the town. It's quite peaceful in the day though!

One of the best places i stayed in Sri Lanka.
Akalanka was very helpful and always trying to make sure we have everything we need. I also tried the breakfast which was fulfilling and tasty with some traditional coffee.

We popped in for a coffee, milkshake and a sweet snack and were definitely not disappointed by the selection. Cafe A Lounge offer a huge variety of drinks, teas, coffees, milkshakes, lassis, cocktails and lots more. The location is great, just off of the main road so quieter than the other cafes around. It’s very nicely decorated too, with a variety of different chairs, beans bags and beds to get comfy.

I highly recommend the chocolate brownie and condensed milk chocolate shake!

Wow this is such a nice place! We have spend the whole day here working, eating and having a drink. The owners are so nice and the food delicious! The cafe has a unique, relaxed vibe. Internet was best I have had in Sri Lanka! Highly recommend to go here.

One of the prettiest hostels I've come across, excellently located and run by the nicest of young locals.
My private room had enough storage and a mini fridge which was super useful.

Really cool cafe in Ella with great service, a fantastic hippy treehouse style space and a generator in case of power outages. They are the only place in Sri Lanka that makes iced chai lattes!! I was so glad they were able to make it for me, especially as it was delicious and so was their brownie. Highly recommended.

Lovely place to chill just off the main high street. It's away from the busy road and restaurants, and has a lot of spots to relax. Really good selection of drinks too - including things like lattes, golden milk, milkshakes, juices - as well as the standard teas/coffee selections. The staff are friendly and accommodating (such as swapping normal milk for alternative types on request).

Ambience - Super Chill. They even let us play our songs. So relaxing. Minimum noise. Literally open 24/7. Super clean. They also have a very clean washroom with a bidet :3 and extra toilet paper. My favorite part was it being on the second floor and has a treehouse feel and it's away from the tourist packed junction so the crowd is less (unfortunately for them)

Staff - So nice. They were super welcoming the whole time. Super efficient. So friendly.

Decor - it's super colorful and really pretty at night. They have these cute obscure phallic shaped lamps hanging from the ceiling. They have those caccon swings and a literal swing in the center. They have bed looking couches and actually couches. They also have a dinning table. Either way, super comfy.

Food - THE PORTIONS are amazing for perfectly prized for that amount. They have a good variety of western and local items.
Personal favorites - Cheesy bites, Chicken fried rice and their chicken pasta. They also gave us a couple of stuff on the house too cus we became regulars after 2 days.

Drinks - They have liquor bois 🥃🍷🍸🍺🍾 as well at mocktails, cocktails, really good coffee variety and fresh juices and smoothies and MILKSHAKES. They also have shisha option and are cool with smoking/vaping/🍃🍃🍃
Personal favorites - Orange juice & banana peanut butter.

Prices - Can't be more fair with their pricing. With a range of 500/- per person minimum to 2000/- on average.

I have been in search of a masala chai tea that is en par with those in India. Not only Cafe A Lounge make such a DELICIOUS chai, they also made it VEGAN using coconut milk 😍

The interior is AWESOME with loads of comfortable swings and cosy seats, making it the perfect space to curl up with a book or some games when that afternoon Ella raincloud hits.

Very nice frappuccino! And the chicken burger is also awesome, and massive! Great portions, and no tip on the bill. But ofcourse they were worth one!

Hey people. A Lounge is a such a one of a kind. It is an asowme place For dining , For beverages and nice aswome Cocktails you can get.. I had a Such a wonderful time there. Nice family-run calm place just few steps of the busy and crowdy main road. Kind people, good drinks and food, very tidy and yet still local. I love lime juice that wakes me up every time. Oh and get a coffee.

This place is a hidden gem, authentic, cute and cosy. Just around the corner from the mess of the main street and it is an absolute delight to be there.Beautiful, stylish like fantasy, dreamy atmosphere, calm and very friendly staff, who welcomed us warmly in their restaurant. Food was delicious, local cousine. They are not so crowded, so go there and support this family restaurant.
