Oak Ray Ella Gap Hotel

We stopped by for the lunch buffet. There is a good variety of foods; something for all tastes I think. I had the Sri Lankan curry and rice and it was quite delicious, with excellent spicing. Nice service and a comfortable place to sit. Highly recommend. The restaurant supervisor, Mr Mahesh was very helpful.

Today we where in Ella to look for a restaurant where we can enjoy the Christmas spirit. We came at Oak Ray Ella Gap Hotel. We didn’t booked a room. But we have a wunderfull Christmas buffet with a lot of different vegetables and a lot of delicious meals. The service of mister W.Mahesh was wonderful. He was very nice and het entertained us and make our evening just perfect.

Greetings, fellow globetrotters! Buckle up as I recount the tale of how a serendipitous turn of events led us to the doorstep of the Oak Ray Ella Gap Hotel, nestled in the heart of Ella.

Our saga begins with a train ride from Nuwara Eliya, which apparently got a bit too attached to the scenic views, delaying us by a whole two hours. Upon arrival, our original hotel played a game of hide-and-seek with our booking. Plot twist!

Enter Oak Ray Ella Gap Hotel, shining like a beacon on Agoda. Desperation? Maybe. A stroke of luck? Absolutely. Booking was a breeze, making it seem like this was our planned destination all along.

The staff at Oak Ray were the human embodiment of a warm hug – kind, helpful, and dripping with empathy for our hotel-less plight. They say cleanliness is next to godliness, and Oak Ray must be on a first-name basis with the divine, given the spotlessness of their rooms. We're talking proper towels (a rare find in the wild), pristine linen, a hairdryer (because who wants travel hair?), and toiletries that didn't look like they were borrowed from a dollhouse.

The pool area? A sun-kissed haven perfect for afternoon lounging. And the daily room service? Let’s just say if there was an Olympic event for bed-making, Oak Ray’s staff would bring home the gold.

Location-wise, Oak Ray is like the Kevin Bacon of Ella – everything's within six degrees of separation. Restaurants, bars, massage parlors, laundry services, shops, and even a mini-mart are just a stroll away.

In summary, Oak Ray Ella Gap Hotel wasn’t just a hotel; it was a sanctuary when we needed it the most. A standing ovation for turning our travel mishap into a memorable stay. 🏨🌟🌄

PS: We didn't have a fridge in our room, but thats okayyyyyy....

I can recommend this place to anyone! Tasty food buffet at fair prices, having lunch at a nice view, with friendly staff. We booked lunch for our annual university lecturer trip , and it was worth every penny.

We stopped by Oak Ray Ella for lunch, and Mr Mahesh, took good care of us and kept us entertained till we got our food. The food was well cooked and had great taste and portions. Overall me and my family were very satisfied with the service and most importantly the food.

3* is very appropriate quality of the hotel. Older rooms, in the bathroom is seen some deviating floor work since when you shower the water leaks through the barrier but there is another sink for that. Restaurant is outside, almost at main street and a lot of insects was flying there so even spray didn’t help so much :/ Otherwise food was good (average) but they made Kottu (traditional Sri Lankan food) and definitely worth to try! Hotel is on the main street nearby bars and spa center where you have book very good ajuverdic massage!

We stayed for 1 night with FB and the Restaurant staff was very helpful and was always available around you. Mr. Raheem and Nalaka helped us in all our meals Including the two ladies who did clearance. Mr. Raheem is so professional and kind towards the guests who visit the restaurant. The pool is ok. We booked 4 rooms and 2 rooms had a balcony and 1 did not. The rooms have no view but the interior is decent. Thilini was so helpful in making the booking.

We stopped for an impromptu drink and were welcomed by Mahish. He was friendly and shared lots of information about Sri Lanka and places to visit. Thank you to Mahish and his team, would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing drink and meal.

Had a delicious Christmas dinner at the restaurant. Nalaka, the steward, was swift in his service and catered to all our needs.

The hotel is located in the middle of the city with access to all necessities. Food, the service, hospitality of the staff and the cleanliness was beyond the expected level. If you seek high quality service for a reasonable price, you will be delighted to stay at Oak Ray Ella Gap.

On our vist to Ella, we stopped by the hotel for lunch. Food was great. Truly worth it!

We had lunch and the food was so attractive and sabour. The manager Mahlesh was so kind and helped with some information. A ver y beautoful person. Come and see!!!

Situated in the mid centre of Ella town, walking distance to popular restaurants.

Rooms were cleaned and well maintained.
Overhead hot water shower was excellent with more than the adequate water pressure.

Excellent breakfast buffet.

No scenic view was the only disadvantage here.

This hotel located at the heart of ella town. Very convenient to travel anywhere from here.

The hotel is great! Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is helpful and food is alright. All in all nothing to complain about. Also it's situated right in the middle of the city so it will be really convenient to travel around but you will be missing out on a nice mountain view.

Nice hotel, we did not stay. Went for lunch. Had delicious biriyani. Recommended for all type of travellers.
