Ella is a peaceful small village in the middle of a beautiful green countryside, with spectacular views! On a clear day, you can even see the glow from the lighthouses along the southern coast.

Ella is nestled in a valley at about 1000m elevation, surrounded by even higher mountains.

The hills surrounding Ella are all covered with farmland growing vegetables, tea plantations, and rice fields, all making the landscape very lush and green.

The sleepy town itself is not that spectacular, with not much to see or do and only a handful of small shops and some cafes.

What people come to Ella for is the hiking. Ella is a spectacular place for hiking! We did three hikes; Little Adam`s Peak which is an easy hike very close to Ella town that still provides breathtaking views, and then two days walking high up in the mountains surrounding Ella with a guide.

You can also hike to Ella rock which is about a 4 hour fairly challenging round trip hike from Ella town depending on where you start and how fast you walk. It can be done with a guide or on your own but make sure to get detailed directions from someone you trust before setting out. The views from the top on a clear day are spectacular.

A really beautiful place. You definitely need to visit it if you go to Sri Lanka. Just be careful with slippery steps on the way down and up. Although it was a little crowded at that time, so had to edit my picture to remove the people.
The nature is fantastic, and the views are amazing. And the way to the bridge is also really great.

Amazing place. a hill station with forest around. The greens everywhere soothes the eyes. Mnay hikes and treks can be enjoyed. Many hip cafes and restaurants are there where you can eat and chill. buy special flavoured teas from the tea shops. Also there's this special place called 'Nil Diya Pokuna' or the blue water pond which is 2 km beneath the surface. One needs to go very deep to find this mythical pond built by king Ravana. The crystal clear water makes you wanna jump right in after a tremendously challenging caving experience! must visit!!

Beautiful small town nestled between two mountain ranges in Uva province. Have wide range of restaurants with nice ambiance in the Ella town. Ella rock and mini Adam's peak are favourite hiking areas and you can go explore Ravana cave, Ravana Ella and Nine Arches bridge. There are lot of small scale holiday bungalows which provide decent accommodation and food at reasonable prices and if you need there are star class luxury resorts too

Ella is a famous destination for local and foreign tourists. Ella gap has made many adventurous excursions with panoramic views. You can easily come to Ella via train and that would be an amazing trip. There are lots of hotels and home stays for tourists with many more facilities.

Many things to do at Ella. Actually one of the most beautiful town in Sri Lanka. Ella Rock, Mini Adam's peak, Rawana cave, Nine arch bridge, Demodara rail loop, Ella flying Rawana zip line are few places to visit. Don't miss Cafe Chill Ella, restaurant.

Beautiful! Small town with plenty of places to choose from to stay. Plenty of beautiful options for days out and places to eat. Perfect for a base to see the sights.

I took the bus from arugamba Bay.
The regular bus, crowdy but Nice.
The vieuw was fabulous, once you come info the mountains range... Waaaaaw.
You see different spot so you can use the bus again to come again to the spots.
Waterfall, hike trails, busman helps you, these guys are so kind.
Even if you meet a inglish local, the conversations let you know more about Sri Lanka life.

It's a little bit of hike to reach this place.. Can't take a car.. Though you can ride a tuktuk there.. Hike is fun and easy.. Kids can manage easily..
