Wilpattu Tree House Hotel

We had a wonderful time at the tree house. Rooms were comfortable, convenient bathroom facilities and a nice view to complement. The staff was lovely and the food was great!! They made extra efforts to make us feel comfortable even during our safari by providing us with neatly packed goods. We will choose this place again and again.

We stayed at Wilpattu Tree House Hotel for 2 nights in September 2023. It is situated right at the Hunuwilagama entrance of Wilpattu National Park, which is an ideal location if you want to start an early morning safari. The stay was at the bungalow, which is 2-storeyed and has 4 bedrooms: 2 on each floor. The bungalow is the oldest of the buildings in the accommodation, but the facilities were good. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were spacious & clean and A/C was working properly. But the bathrooms need some attention and a facelift, as there were a few leaks in the fittings. However, the hot water facilities worked well. There were insects around the bungalow, but that's generally a norm when you are staying close to a national park. Elephants roam in the vicinity, hence you have to be careful if going outside at night. We were fortunate enough to witness such an elephant around 4.30 AM.

The meals were served at the restaurant and they were tasty. The staff is very polite & helpful. They were even accommodative to provide a packed breakfast & a lunch when we left for an early morning safari at 5.30 AM. The surrounding environment is pleasant & calm, hence an ideal place to enjoy the wildlife.

This hotel is a great choice for those people who want to continuously enjoy what the area has to offer. A safari is fun, but being able to sit on a bench and watch nature and the animals freely is a different feeling! The hotel has a beautiful open view onto a field that is full of interesting birds, and if youre lucky you might even see an elephant walking by. Enjoy the hospitality and quiet!

The hotel is located close to the Wilpattu National Park, which is only a 5 minute walk. There is parking available.

Although it is named as a "Tree House" Hotel, it is definitely not the kind you'd expect. Instead, it's more of like a wood cabin surrounded by trees. There's only two "tree houses" available, with each having 2 floors. The house that is located near the entrance seemed to be outdated compared to the other one. It could use a bit of improvement as the windows on the 2nd floor were jammed with a cloth, and a small part of the wall was taped. Another downside was the delayed room service in which was offered later and if you're not a big fan of having insects such as wasps and bees while eating at the dinner table then you might want to reconsider. The commute from the rooms to the dining area takes a minute or two, which might be inconvenient if it is raining. The rooms are sealed, but you can never guarantee there won't be at least one insect or lizard in the bathroom or room.

Despite its cons, the hotel's surroundings are breathtaking as it's exposed to a large field of crops, trees, and plants that attract various birds. You could spot peacocks, deers, and even monkeys..!

Friendly service and great food..! They prepared meals according to our liking and even provided chicken based dishes that were halal, but it's always best to ask before your visit or mention in advance. There's a swing and little seating areas outside.

In short, it's a spectacular place exposed to nature with friendly service and delicious food. Thank you very much for your service and for making our stay the most pleasant one.

Stayed here on 17/5/23 for a night. The loacation is super convenient as it is situated right outside the park gate. The hosts are super sweet and would go out of thier way to make you comfortable.

We loved our stay there and especially the swing was a beautiful experience.

I recently stayed at Wilpattu Hotel during my trip to Sri Lanka and overall had a very positive experience. The hotel is located in a scenic area near Wilpattu National Park, which made for a wonderful nature-filled getaway.

The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to ensure that my stay was comfortable. The room itself was clean and well-appointed, with comfortable bedding and modern amenities. I especially appreciated the air conditioning, which provided a welcome respite from the heat.The food they made for us was delicious they'll cook anything you like.
I definitely will stay at this hotel when I go to wilpattu and I highly recommend people who like to go for an adventure to stay at this hotel.

We had a wonderful time here. It’s right by the park and the treehouses are so cute with the best view. We had 2 safaris and both were excellent - the driver /tracker managed to find amazing spots of leopards and sloth bears - we had the park to ourselves due to the situation! The staff are very attentive, friendly and helpful. Generous portions and so flexible with the food so we could have late breakfast after safari !

We stayed two nights here and the Wood Cabins are Very Clean and Comfy. (11 pax) The staff was very friendly and polite. Food was also yummy 🤤 They also provide packed lunch and breakfast for full day safari as well. Location is also very calm and greeny 🍃😍 Prices are also very reasonable 🤟 Thank you for the team and the caretaker for making our vacation perfect 🤝

Very clean place and comfortable. Staff also very helpful and courteous. They served delicious food for our group in time and we were able to enjoy our trip. It was nice to see elephants and deer in the night from the balcony.

Wonderful place to stay, room was clean and comfortable with incredible views from the balcony, both dinner and breakfast were delicious, staff so attentive and friendly. Great location right outside Wilpattu National Park gates and short walk to a beautiful lake with loads of wildlife. Would recommend!

Great place to stay if you are going to wilpattu wildlife tour. Very convenient as it is at the entrance. Staff is friendly and will take care of everything about the tour including food and a guide.

Good clean rooms with AC and Hotwater and excellent food.

After exploring Sri Lanka for two weeks a friend & I spent a delightful weekend at this lovely location enjoying their excellent hospitality - you’ve tried the rest, now try the best!

This was honestly one of the most relaxing places I've ever been. The rooms are lovely, the staff is warm and caring, the food was delicious, and the location is fantastic.
One thing to remember: they only accept cash, and the nearest ATM is fairly far, so make sure you get your cash before arriving.
Also, check with the staff before booking safaris as they'll be able to tell you what, if anything, has been spotted recently.
And if you're really lucky, you'll see elephants walking very close to the resort

A great hotel right next to Wilpattu National Park. Friendly staff, tasty foods. I must mention that, after spending the whole day at wilpattu national park, they offered us to have a complimentary shower and a cup of tea, even after we checked out in the morning. They also packed us picnic lunch and the dessert and water bottles were packed in a cool box. It was very nice of them to do that for us.

Lovely little family business run by caring members and staff who will go that extra mile to make your stay more comfortable and memorable. The facility ideally located next to Wilpattu NP entrance and Hunuvila Lake.
Evening nature walking trail allows you to spot Elephants, Spotted Deers, Samba Deers, Wild boar safely across the other side of the lake and Crocodiles and hundreds of birds including Eagles & Pied hornbills apart from the neighboring Wilpattu Safari's Sri Lankan big fives.
The supper clean air conditioned tree houses are not built on traditional tree supports. The two storied wooden chalet's were built in between beautiful forest canopy cover without disturbing these huge giants, which allows exotic birds, squirrels, friendly monkeys roam around you freely.
Further, you can enjoy authentic Sri Lankan food and hospitality.

Great concept, lovely staff. Excellent base to go for safaris to Wilpattu National park (literally a 3 minute walk to the fence line).

The place is inserted into the tree lines and you will come eye to eye with a lot of the bats, monkeys squirrels and birds - eye to eye.

Wild elephants tend to use the lanes to sneak in and out of the national park which just adds to the love of this place.

Feel like staying on a tree top and enjoy the luxurious facilities while listening to whistling of birds from your balcony. Closest property to the hunuwilagama entrance of wilpattu national Park.good food ,good service and memorable stay .see the magestic beast in the park leopard and relax ur mind and the body at 'Wilpattu tree house ' cheers
I will definitely go there again.
