Spectacular views accompany great food in this Kazakh restaurant.

Wonderfully decorated, with an open kitchen so you can watch the cooks at work.

Service was above average here, including a check-back (very common in the US, but seems to be non-existent in other parts of the world).

Everything from the tea to dessert was wonderful.

It's pricey, and a bit out of the way, but very much worth the trip.

Great place, very lovely atmosphere. Booking is required, usually very crowded. Food is good, prices above the average, but worth it. Waiters were very helpful, great service.

Simply incredible! We visited in summer and were treated to fantastic views of the mountains, a cozy and traditional restaurant interior, and mouth-watering Central Asian cuisine. The baursak (fried bread) was freshly fried and tasted super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Fish was super fresh. There was so much attention to detail throughout the entire dining experience. Super highly recommended!

A beautifully decorated restaurant in Medeo with an excellent choice of local dishes but with some finesse. I like to take my friends and business partners from abroad to this location because of the good view, atmosphere, service and food. It is indeed a little pricey for kazakh dishes. Just a word of advise: Book in advnance, especially when you are planning on going on weekends. Just randomly showing up could end in a disappointment.

This restaurant is a must-go place in entire Kazakhstan, not only in Almaty despite its location 30 min drive away from the city center, after I tried many restaurants in Kazakhstan over a week long stay in Astana&Almaty.
Honestly my expectation regarding foods&services was not high for this Kazakh trip but my notion was completely destroyed by this restaurant.

We visited Auyl in May 2023 and we had an amazing experience! I gave atmosphere only 4 stars because of the other guests who behaved themselves not very appropriate…otherwise this restaurant is highly recommended! The food is delicious, traditional but with interesting twists. In addition, there were appetisers on the house as a welcome and farewell. The produce is regional, seasonal and they are also preparing oils etc themselves. The service was on point, friendly and they also informed us about the history of the building and the interior. They do not include a service fee on the bill, so tipping is recommended. I am looking forward to my next visit to Almaty and of course Auyl! If the Michelin Guide existed in Kazakhstan, Auyl would definitely deserve a star.

Just an amazing place where try some traditional kazak food. All the environment makes you feel comfortable and like you where in a traditional place in the middle of the mountain. Food was tasty and people super kind.

This place is open only for reservation, if you haven't reserved and show up without any notice still they will welcome you in a offer to sit at the bar table, in our case it was a blessing that we chose bar table as we were welcomed by Aliyaar who took good care of us and recommended good food suitable for our pallet. All in all good service , food and ambience. Highly recommended

We got there without any reservations, and lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful to us! She gave us grounded table since we were with a toddler . And we enjoyed our meal few hours , without any rush. Food was delicious and also didn’t take too long! Our server Danil suggested us drinks and food ! Great atmosphere! Definitely coming back soon!

As an English speaker I felt very at ease. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised to be given a waiter with an excellent mastery of the English language who was overjoyed to introduce and explain the traditional Kazakh dishes. Then the sommelier came around and too explained the wine list in perfect English. Little did I know that was just the beginning.

To describe the cuisine as good or delicious would be a grave injustice. The variety of flavors was quite frankly worthy of international acclaim. I have been to a fair few Michelin star restaurants in my time and I can honestly say this experience ranked strongly among them. For every foreigner interested in a culinary journey through Kazakh tradition, I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. Thank you to everyone who made my time here unforgettable.

…and as a side note, it would be a sad oversight of judgement not to try the horse meat on account of misguided western sensibilities. Every dish was more stunning than the last.
