Time machine shop. Very well curated cassette tapes (!) Including new releases from their own label, vinyls and music magazines.
About 10min walk from hip Nakameguro station.

Lovely place with a very relaxed ambience inside the store. It is a nice 10 minutes walk away from the station. Features a good selection of cassettes and also players. Wished I could buy one of those players back. Owner was very friendly! Hope to visit again to have a proper chat!

Great music selection being played, perfect vibes and a wide variety of cassettes (probably the biggest I’ve seen in a while)

Found all the goods here. The owner was nice enough to even find my favorite Fugazi tape! Love this spot.

A small cassette shop. Excellent selection. Definitely a hidden gem in Naka-meguro.

A gem hidden in the middle of a residental area in Naka Meguro. They had a wide selection of vinyls and 6” singles. I don’t know much about cassettes but they had plenty of. Also, the prices were very good.

Nice store, and the little blurbs on a lot of the new release cassettes were fun to read.

There isn’t much in terms of Japanese popular music from the 70s and 80s, but the selection of Western music of all sorts is excellent, as well as cutting-edge experimental/indie releases from both Japan and the West.

A quick etiquette recommendation on what not to do: this was a few years back, but I spent a long while (probably more than a half-hour), trying to figure out what to buy while looking up reviews and listening to album snippets online.

The owner and I ended up having an ever-so-slightly tense conversation about that. Apparently, it seems that some people just take notes while window shopping to later download pirated copies. At that time, I was a bit displeased at the insinuation, but looking back, it's understandable.

I ended up putting away the phone and purchasing a few tapes based on nothing but feeble intuition and those cute little blurb cards. The owner's wife kindly answered my questions, and I ended up satisfied with the tapes I chose. The quality of the tapes, both new and used, was good, too.

As an aside, it seems that there are some new requirements to help deal with corona, so make sure to check them at the door.

Amazing store for retro music enthusiasts. A large array of old and new cassettes and records as well as a choice selection of refurbished boomboxs and walkmen. Staff are friendly and speak English (from my experience). Definitely would recommend!

The best place to shop for cassettes in Tokyo, the owner and his wife are lovely and Taro-san can speak English well. It always smells amazing in here and the music they play is always interesting. I can’t recommend it enough!

I bought the mixed tape of GOG(guardians of galaxy) vol 2 in this shop. What a real cassette tape!! It was excellent experience and felt like I was back in my teenage years.

One of the few shops in the world that specializes in cassette tapes. They also have vinyl and vintage magazines. Worth a trip to Nakameguro!
