Zenpuku-ji River Green Space

Great place to cycle along the river off the main roads, or go for a run and enjoy spacious lawns, parks and childrens playparks and exercise areas. Some parts are under construction but still is a great way to find a restorative green space in Tokyo. Best between the area of Seibi Bridge (済美橋) and Nishi Tabata Bridge (西田端橋).

A lovely park for walking. It runs along the Zenpukuji River which looks like a canal. The park has several play areas for children. Probably the highlight is an excellent bike training park for kids. Children can ride on miniature roads with stoplights, underpasses, train tracks and crossings. Genius.

Definitely my favourite local place. A great green area to have a picnic with friends and families, cycle, outing with kids, and just take a rest with fresh air. It has a very good balance of trees and grass areas with lots of benches, kids playgrounds, sporting areas, café and restaurants.

It is very long , I call it the Nile Valley of Tokyo , it's So Unique , right in the center of West Tokyo , I have never seen anything like it in my whole life , it has a forest of trees stretching from Ogikubo almost to Honancho in a series of vast parks interlaced with residential areas.
I came across it by sheer accident back in 1999 , I couldn't believe my eyes , I had seen very few signs indicating that it even existed , I remember seeing a clump of woods in the distance and kept following the river to see where they ended but they never did , I just kept walking and walking for an hour , crossed Itsukaichi Dori and they kept on going , it seemed like no end in sight ! Finally I had to turn back. The next afternoon I started earlier and ended in Wadabori Park by the Big Pond and it still kept going. I had to turn back that afternoon and it took me another hour walking back!
Finally the next day I took my Bike and arrived at Wadabori Pond , then it was a very isolated place , I discovered this small clump of houses in the middle of the park , People were living in them and were running this small open air restaurant called The River Side , it was like a little village in the middle of nowhere in this forest near the pond in The Middle Of Tokyo !!! What a Spectacle ! Unbelievable ! They were Friendlier than most people in Tokyo , very isolated and Country like. Near the pond I found this Circular Tent and met a man living next to the pond . I just could not believe my eyes !
About 5 years later a parking lot was built and the place was like any other park and more people came ! But before it was like walking in the Wilderness.
One Day with my bike I finally rode my bike to the end almost to Honancho and in so doing discovered another very isolated wooded area. A park of Great Surprises And Adventure!

Lovely walks along a cherry tree lined canal. Loads of parks and play areas too.

Nice place either for a picnic or just to relax.

Relaxing, full of greenery. Good place to jog.

善福寺川に沿って作られた公園です

目立ったものは無いですが
ずっと一本道になっているので
散歩するにはちょうどいい公園だと思います

野鳥を撮影している人が多いですね
春になると桜が綺麗に咲いたりします

この緑地公園を訪れるたびに杉並に住んでいる幸せを感じるのは私だけでしょうか？
江戸時代からの街道、甲州街道、五日市街道、青梅街道が行き交い、神田川、善福寺川が東西を蛇行しています。
杉林、梅林、銀杏並木、数えきれない程の木々が春を待ちわびている香りがします。緑地は杉並のほぼ中央にあり五日市街道が横切っています。散策したり公園で遊んだり昼寝をしたり思い思いの時を過ごす絶好の緑地公園です。

急にお休みが取れたので桜を見に来ました。

三月末で少し早かったのですが、木によってはもう三分ほど咲いていて、善福寺川に覆いかぶさるように見事な枝を伸ばした桜はとても綺麗でした。

ここの緑地は本当に緑が豊かで、川にカモやサギを見かけますし、ウグイスの鳴き声も聞けました。

でもやはり川の上に満開に咲いた桜は一見の価値が有ると思ってますので、時期にもう一度来たいと思います。

散策路があり綺麗な川には鴨や川鵜などがいます。公園が左右にあり子供用遊具などあります。桜も綺麗です。

川沿いの、至るところに緑溢れる公園が有り、散歩に良し、ジョギングに良し、日なたぼっこするにも良いでしょう。杉並区は電車の便が悪いので、近隣の人以外は関東バスか、すぎまるバス(阿佐ヶ谷から出ているコミュニティバス)で来るのが良いでしょう。
おすすめは、関東バスの五日市街道営業所で下車して川沿いを下り、沢山の公園を眺めながら和田堀→大宮八幡宮まで、てくてく散歩。かなり歩きでがあります。大宮八幡まで来てしまったら、バスで井の頭線の永福町、または中野に出るのが良いかと思います。
とにかくどこをどう歩いても、近くに電車の駅は有りませんので。

自然豊かで子供も伸び伸び遊べるし、四季折々の草花も咲き、春には満開のソメイヨシノも楽しめます。

川沿いが森のようになり、自然と一体化している素晴らしい公園です。善福寺川は水が綺麗なのか？小魚やザリガニ、それらを捕食しにくるサギ、スッポンなどを観察する事が出来ます。夏に散歩した時には蛇が泳いでいるのを見かけて驚きました！

杉並区民の憩いの場です。近所にこんなに素晴らしい公園があるのでなかなか他に引っ越し出来ません。春の桜はもちろん四季を通して楽しめます。
