Highlight of our trip! The staff was incredible, several people who spoke fluent English. They even helped us book a private onsen experience at their sister hotel. It would be worth flying to Japan just to get to stay here again.

Hard to imagine a better place to stay in Kinosaki. The Kaiseki crab meal, while very long, was a once in a lifetime experience. The hotel was walkable to all of the towns onsens as well and did a great job of providing the tradition ryokan experience with some of the conveniences of a modern hotel. The staff was perfect and provided us with all of the traditional japanese clothing for our stay. They even took the extra step to provide us with a honeymoon gift and personalized welcome. Would highly recommend to the next couple looking to stay here.

The Nishimuraya Honkan is a must-visit hot spring ryokan. The rooms are spacious and there's a beautiful traditional-style garden. I stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, which was very clean and modern. During our stay, we had a delicious Tajima beef dinner served in the room, followed by a plentiful breakfast. It was a truly relaxing experience for both body and mind.

We loved Nishimuraya Honkan! The staff is so kind and the hotel is beautiful. They were able to accommodate all of our dietary restrictions for meals and the food was delicious. We enjoyed our stay!

This is the best ryokan I've ever stayed in Japan, and I have been Guma and Hakone before too. It is just a BEAUTIFUL and breathtaking ryokan, and the town it self took you back to the 1800s. It's just picture perfect!

The room is beautiful, with a private courtyard view and private onsen. We requested last minute for dinner to be served outside of the room (I think it's fancier in-room but my parents prefer no food in their room) and the staff were so kind to arrange a private dinner room too. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were also the highlight and what I looked forward most on the trip. Everything is beautifully done, we tried tajima beef (melt in your mouth) as well as very very sweet snow crab. They also had a pot of rice cooking over fire within the room, and it's done at the end of the meal -- so cool! Anne (with a maid key chain tag :)) was the sweetest and hosted us for the dinner!

The day we were there was all rainy but the town is just so beautiful. We walked around at night and everyone was in their yukata, walking to the 7 hot springs and you might wonder if you just travelled back to the 1800s!

Overall, a magical experience! I can't wait to come back for the cherry blossom season or fall season!

Located in onsen town of Kinosaki one of the best ryokan I have been to. Absolutely amazing location with a beautiful garden and super nice stuff. The staff speaks English and tries to make you as comfortable as possible. Food was amazing, in my two stays I had the pleasure to eat tajima beef and crab which both are delicious. As a guest of the ryokan you get a Yukata and Geita to walk around town and explore the 7 hot springs which are included in the stay. However even the baths of the hotel are very nice to relax.

After staying in Kinosaki onsen back in 2015 I wanted our return to be special, and my choice on us staying at Nishimuraya Honkan was not regretted one bit! Staying in the Kangetsu room we had our own open-air bath for my partner who isn't comfortable with public onsen, but the fantastic Goshonoyu is just a short walk away for those who do like to partake in them, just accept the warning of Mandarayu being hot, it is!! 😰

The Kangetsu room was absolutely stunning, and our garden view was so very calming and perfect for the non-stop trip that we had been on up to that point.

From before our check-in to after check-out we were treated with fantastic hospitality, from the brilliant service alongside our kaiseki, to the point where a poor chap from the lobby visited our room multiple times to try and accommodate for the need of different sizes of yukata, and a further amazing member of the team for carrying all of our bags (3 rucksacks, 1 bag and two small suitcases!!) single-handedly to the lobby for us!!

I didn't get to try Nishimuraya's public baths, but perhaps one day we'll return, I can't wait!!

This place is of dreams , must do in Japan!! Onsen is amazing we had a private one in our room as well. But the main star of the show was the food and service - unmatched anywhere else in the world
Our host Yamagata was 10/10 and provided me and my wife with the best service

Premium experience for a premium price. What a calming and introspective time one can spend at this luxury onsen ryokan. Services like kaiseki dinner, breakfast in the historic dining hall, in room massage, zen garden right outside every window. And of course, the ryokan onsens were incredible. Didn't get to try the annex onsen but got to see both styles of the main onsen. And when you're tired of the ryokan onsens, you get to experience the beautiful picturesque town that is kinosaki onsen and all its beautiful public baths. If you can afford it, go.

You get what you pay for and you'll definitely pay a bit. It's pure luxury. Dinner and breakfast were incredible. Onsen experience onsite and in town were fun. Exceptional zen garden.

My partner and I were very happy with the service of this ryokan. We have been almost surprised by a situation that my partner requested: a public telephone. The receptionist kindly arranged the transfer service for us to the train station to use the public telephone. The same was for the transfer back to the ryokan. For that service, we are very grateful.

The room is clean, top quality. The dinner was delicious. Also of great quality. The same was breakfast. (we ordered western breakfast).
I think we'll be back next year.
An opinion of a person who comes from Chile.

As an English speaker, this stay was incredibly accommodating. If your an experience seeker, I highly recommend this! The staff was world class in their customer service, and the food was the best I’ve had on this entire japan trip.

I highly recommend you do a chefs choice dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast here. The quality of food will leave you dreaming about it in the future.

Thank you to the wonderful staff!

A member of Relais and Chateaux, Nishimuraya Honkan sits at the very top of fine ryokan. The hospitality and service, attention to detail is very high. The kaiseki meal and breakfast presented are very good with emphasis on balance, presentation and ingredients quality.

The inn itself is rich with history (over 160 years). Despite its long history, it is very well maintained and kept. The public onsen and private onsen in some room are well kept. The inn maintains a very traditional way of life with some of the most superb attention to detail. The embodiment of perfection is probably best showcased in its Japanese garden in the middle of the ryokan complete with its koi fish.

The best service that you could expect! The staff are so polite and considerate. The breakfast dining hall with beautiful views and the garden you can access from your room just make the whole stay so enjoyable.

This was an incredible stay. Our suite was huge and luxurious. The dinner was fantastic and Saki, our server, provided us with the best hospitality. The dinner and breakfast were among the best I've ever had. This place also has two onsen areas for both men and women (separately), which were not big, but still nice. I hope to be back sometime in the future.

Very courteous staff. Extremely beautiful ryokan. So delicious Kaiseki, severed in your very own ryokan. Really thankful to have had the chance to be there.

Amazing experience and seamless from start to end. Hotel provides a free shuttle bus to and from station. The staff here will welcome you at every opportunity. There is an hotel onsen available and also private onsen available to book at their sister hotel for an additional fee. Very relaxing to go on our two week Japan trip :).

Fantastic experience.
Very fiendly staff. Mitsuki, our hostess for the excellent room dinner, deserves a 5 star on her own. Breakfast was above class. The 150 year old diningroom alone is worth staying in this ryokan

Stayed here for two nights mid-May. The shuttle to-and-from the train station was simple and convenient to arrange.

This town is a unique sleepy village filled with cute shops and hotels. The hotel itself is a great experience in itself, as it offers a complete Edo-styled stay. There is the sister hotel which is modern and has the private spas, which they will chauffeur you to if you book at the springs. The rooms all over look the garden, we stayed in the walk-out suite which was huge in spay -- it was overall amazing to have a walk-out garden as part of the room.

The room service was excellent. Opt in for the dinner services, it was one of our better meals in Japan -- I'm surprised it wasn't Michelin-starred.

One of the most relaxing stays of my life. The garden was beautiful, the service was incredible, and the onsen’s onsite were amazing. This place was also very accommodating to us as English speaking foreigners. They even delivered us The Japan Times in English! If you’re staying in Kinosakionsen, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this ryokan.
