Goshonoyu Onsen

This one was our favorite of the public bath houses. All of them get crowded during peak times of the day but no one is ever rude. This is the onsen that features a water fountain/waterfall in the background and is more open air than a few of the others. You won't find any photos inside of the bath houses as no photos or videos are permitted in any of them. Great this is enforced so no one ruins the atmosphere.

For foreigners visiting. Take off your shoes as soon as you enter, put them in the shoe lockers to the left (free).

There are signs in the changing room telling you what to do. Seated showers are before the onsen. The top level is very very hot.

When I went it was ¥800 for just this onsen. It's really pretty and relaxing. I think it would be better at night.

By far my favorite onsen in town. It was very large so you never felt crowded in like a couple of the other ones. Large shower room and the best part was that the onsen itself was outdoors. You could relax and enjoy the trees and waterfall near the back. The bath was large with many rocks and natural features to sit on/by. It was nice during the colder weather and the contrast of the cold outdoors with the hot water was very pleasant. Nice seating area in the front too with post-onsen snacks!

My absolute favorite in town!! Outdoor bath is GORGEOUS, a good temperature and have many different soaking areas!! There’s a standing corner where you can get a nice hot jet on your back and it was absolutely incredible. There are nice cool rock benches where you can cool off when you overheat, too!! I’m kinda obsessed with this place 💖

An incredible outdoor onsen. They rotate mens and women’s side each day. When I was there the women’s side had 3 levels of outdoor, rock onsen right up until the waterfall where the spring water was coming from. It was beautiful and serene. There’s also a deeper pool that has jets, it felt good on my back. There are lockers inside the changing room so your stuff is secure while you’re there.

Onsen with waterfall setting. Just different from others. Enjoy the experience.

After hearing of the amazing health benefits of this natural hot spring I was keen to test it out for myself, I can tell you now I was not disappointed, after only one session in this spa I have been cured of my chronic haemorrhoids that have plagued me for years.

Beautiful setting. Definitely good for the soul. The facilities are spotlessly clean. Towels are available to rent for 200 yen but they are very small - learn from our mistake and don't forget to take your own!

One of the best onsen experience in Japan. It is the biggest and best onsen in kinosaki and the water is much Gotham many other places. It is smooth and clear. The outside onsen is beautiful with water fall bringing in fresh water constantly. The spring air is still very cold and with rainfall so the onsen make you feel warm even when you are out of it. Visited this place at least three times over the years.

It's a fantastic public spring. Its fees doesn't cost you that much, especially when you purchase the one day ticket of 1500yen for all 7 public springs in Kinosaki. There is one lovely indoor Onsen. However, there is a very great outdoor Onsen with a mini waterfall surrounding. You can enjoy the view when you rest inside the spring. Recommend visiting here in fall, you can see the red maples 🍁, especially when falling downwards into yard.

Very relaxing onsen experience. This is the first time I had an onsen surrounded by small waterfall and in the snow. I went there on 20th December an there was cold storm that brings some snowfall. Entrance fee is 800Yen but it is totally worth it.

Quite a long ride on a slow train from Kyoto but as an onsen lover I was impressed. The outdoor pool was particularly calming.

The most beautiful onsen in Kinosaki. Obviously the one that gets the busiest as well, so try to go early.

Please don't be a disrespectful gaijin: take a shower before you go to the bath, and don't drop the towel in the onsen water.

One of the outstanding features of this onsen is the outdoor pool which has three sitting areas. Here, you oversee a small stream that descends several levels, giving it the appearance of a waterfall. The sound of flowing water is calming and if you're there at opening, there are only a few people here and you can enjoy your soak peacefully.

This was my favorite onsen in Kinosaki because of the large bath and waterfall.

Came here first and was so glad I did—Sunday morning on a rainy day and I was one of two people for a good few hours from 8:30-10. The waterfall is man made but very relaxing. It is a shame that the bath house no longer has an inside area or a big relaxation space but it was my favorite and the most calming
