Restaurant Azuma

This place has unfortunately been spammed with bad bot reviews.

Run by a husband and wife team, Restaurant Azuma is a pleasant experience. It feels like you’re visiting someone’s home and are being invited into their kitchen. They offer plenty of tasty dishes, but the steak (Wagyu beef) goes above and beyond. I wish I knew to order it the first time I visited!

The delightful duo clearly takes pride in their work, and they also take the time to make their food properly. I plan to learn a bit more Japanese next time I visit so that I can understand more of the chef’s spirited and charming stories.

There aren’t many restaurants like this around anymore, and I’m happy I had to opportunity to experience it.

This place has been spammed with bad reviews. Anyones has been to this place loves it. My husband and I go every time we go to Tokyo.

It’s one of the best restaurants in Tokyo for its incredible experience with the Chef and his wife. Very thankful for the nice service and wonderful food.

The omurice is a must try. The beef steak, which was like a burger patty was very fresh with a delicious crust.

Every little dish was something special and delicious. Next time we are looking to try the chefs tasting menu.

But this is an incredible restaurant. The Wagyu steak was mind blowing, served with a butter knife. The chef and his wife were friendly and welcoming. A special experience to watch him cook at the counter

Yummy omurice! Very hospitable staff.

We had such amazing night with oto-san Chef and super friendly oka-san. Hahaha 🥰 We loveeee the tasty chicken cutlet and their signature omurice! They serve with fresh salad, noodles, japanese pickles and tasty hot seaweed tea. After we finished the food, we have fun conversation with the chef also (yes, in our limited language and body sign haha). We enjoy it so much. Great food and great experience. Oishii 🥰

OMG been here twice. Hard to book, chef makes amazing food. I still dream about this place!

I love this place. Actually they serve european food, but japanese style. So you can eat steaks or seafood. I have to say it is not the cheapest restaurant at this corner, but the quality is amazing. The best reason to go there is the cook and his wife. They are so friendly and the to make you feeling comfortable as much as possible.
By the way, Jonny Depp was here (picture at the wall)

Staff and owners are very friendly, their food is delicious. Definitely worth making a trip for their delicious omurice

こちらのオムライスは、今でこそ多くのお店が取り入れている、オムレツをライスの上に乗せて割るスタイル、いわゆる「パッカン系」オムライスを初めて作ったと言われているお店で、まさに元祖花咲オムライスの店。

この日はテーブルで食事をいただいていたが、是非カウンターに来て、オムレツが開く瞬間を見てほしいと言っていただけたため、特別にカウンターで開く様子を見せていただけた。

通常パッカン系といえばナイフを入れて開く様子が有名だが、元祖はナイフは要らず、乗せた重力で勝手に開くほどの半熟具合。

そんなオムレツは、これだけでも十分美味しいと思えるほど味がしっかりとついたもので、まるで卵焼きのような味わい。
卵は2個使っており、半熟の状態とよく焼きの状態が混在したオムレツで、やや厚みもある。

ライスはやや固め水分多めのケチャップライス。
ケチャップの酸味は少なく、代わりに胡椒の刺激がかなりしっかり効いている。
具材は細かく刻まれた鶏肉、玉ねぎ、そして筍。
かなり多めの量にも関わらず、どんどん食べ進められるスパイシーな味付けで、クセになる。

そしてソースはデミグラスソース。
粘度は低めのサラサラタイプで、最初は酸味があると感じていたが、塩気の強めなオムレツやスパイシーなライスを食べているうちに甘みが強く感じられるように変化してきた。

このオムライスを食べて感じたのは、やはり長年営業を続けられてきて、色々な人に食べられてきたために、様々な食べ方があったのだろうということ。
そのために、オムレツ、ライス、ソース、どこの部分から食べても美味しいと思えるようになっており、これこそが年月を経ることで生み出した味の深みなのだと感じた。

確かに値段はかなり高めだが、このオムライスに行き着くまでの試行錯誤を考えれば、決して高くはないと感じらるほどの、絶品オムライスだった。

【まとめ】
本所吾妻橋から三ツ目通り沿いに隅田公園方向に歩いたところにある「レストラン吾妻」さん。
スカイツリーを眺めることができる絶好のロケーションにあるこちらのお店は、1913年創業の超老舗洋食店。
外観からはもちろん、店内もかなり年季が入っている様子で、昔から時が止まったかのようなレトロな雰囲気。
しかしながらとてもオシャレな内観で、清潔感もあり、居心地はとても良い。

歴史の深さゆえ、数々の著名人にも愛された様子で、店内には大女優の樹木希林さんが来店された際の写真飾られている。

シェフは現在3代目で、年齢もかなり高齢になっており、後継がいないということで2023年3月をもって閉店してしまう。

非常に残念ではあるが、最後の最後でこの絶品の洋食を味わえただけでも幸せであった。

オムライスが食べたくなり、かりそめ天国ガチガチランキングでNo.1だったこちらの店にお邪魔しました。
ご年配のご夫婦が仲睦まじいコンビネーションで対応してくれます。
カウンターに座りましたが、居心地抜群でした。

まずは、生ハムと黒エビスビールでいただきました。
そしてオムライスへ。
カウンターの皿の上で、完成品になります。
チキンライス→玉子がけ→デミグラソース。
期待通りの美味しさでした。
美味しいオムライスを食べていると、幸せな気分になりすね。
大盛でも良かったと思えるほどに美味かった！

マスターがサービスでカキフライを1個くれました。
美味かった。
今回は三陸産でしたが、普段は伊勢志摩の的矢牡蠣を使用されているとのことでした。
また行きたい。
今度は海老フライを食べたい！
