Great ryokan inn close to Narita airport. Room was much more spacious than I thought it'd be and the public bath was relaxing, especially in the cold weather. Would definitely recommend staying one full day and not just overnight like I did.

Only thing is it's about a 15 minute walk from the train station so it might be hard for some families or people traveling with a lot of luggage.

One train stop from NRT airport is the Narita town which is beautiful, nice last minute souvenirs shopping, has a very nice temple as well as a forest where the fall leaves were the prettiest. This hotel has the best location and offered for an affordable price a great traditional Japanese experience including the room, sitting, sleeping, yukata robes and sandals as well as traditional breakfast and dinner. The view from the room is the temple entrance. The breakfast and dinner were 100% traditional and for sure one of the highlights of our trip. Our room had a toilet and sink but the bath was the public onsen which is used naked so it’s something to consider if that makes you uncomfortable. We will definitely stay here again when we arrive end leave NRT. The Very nice staff was acomodating, helped with taxi, luggage storage and other questions.

super nice, awesome retro vibes. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Location is great, cool little places for souvenir shopping nearby and really scenic area to walk around, super convenient to Narita Airport.

Girlfriend and I stayed at this lovely establishment for 2 nights and we highly recommend this authenticate Honten "resort" for its superior customer services. The hotel staff were so friendly and made us feel like home, special thanks to Ms. Chen and the dining staff - I left my purse in the dining room with cash and passport and it was easily retrieved shortly after thanks to them!
The hotel is one of the original and built right across from the famous Naritasan Shinshoji temple (less than 10-min away from Narita International airport). Naturally the building has history yet its tidy and spotless. Comfortable platform beds are provided on the traditional Japanese tatami with traditional tea set and tea. The room is equipped with a toilet and a separated sink, you take shower/bath in the public bathing area - This might take adjustment to get used to (but hey it's the Japanese way). The bathing area is open 24-hr so you can always pick odd hour to avoid others if you are super shy.
A night stay includes dinner and breakfast and they are both traditional Japanese set style using locally sourced ingredients wth many varieties and all so delicious (and picturesque)!! The street in front of the hotel are full of small traditional shops and restaurants/cafe and one can easily spend a day browsing through them.
The city of Narita feels like a small version of Kyoto. It's great for short 1 or 2 night trip before hoping on or off the plane. It's still rather unknown (for now) = peace & quite compared to major tourist attractions. You should go now before others find out this hidden gem!!

Great hotel with traditional Japanese sentiment. Located near many small shops and directly across from the Naritasan Temples. About a 15 min walk from Narita train station (recommend taking a taxi if you have a lot of luggage). Several places to eat around and towards the train station.

Hotel staff were so very polite with an etiquette that seems long forgotten. The room was very beautiful and spacious as compared to the standard hotel rooms in Tokyo. Tradidtional tatami room, a sitting room, and a private toilet in the room. Onsen style public bath in the hotel. Very clean. I recommend including the breakfast and dinner meal plan at reservation to experience traditional japanese cuisine. They also offer a western style breakfast as an option. This hotel did not disappoint! We will stay again on our next trip to Japan.

Also worth noting, hotel offers shuttle service to the train station at check out. Train ride is only 20 min. to Narita Airport and drops off directly at terminals 2&3 first then terminal 1.

Located directly across from Naritasan Shinsho Temple, this traditional Japanese inn is nestled into a charming little town which has thrived for centuries. Tamami rooms, luxurious baths, and great food are a given for traditional Japanese inns, but the evening meal served here stood head and shoulders above the rest. It included eel, a Narita speciality, local grilled beef "sukiyaki," assorted vegetables, and rice grown in Chiba Prefecture. Hearty and delicious, you can taste true Japanese cuisine. With the large temple so close, it's a great spot to go exploring on foot as well. There's no missing temple's main hall and five-story pagoda, but the park further back on the grounds is a must-see. The flowers and pond change with the seasons. Since Narita Airport is so close, it's a perfect place to come relax after a long flight and do some shopping, sightseeing, and experience real Japanese culture before traveling into Tokyo.

Great breakfast served in the room. First time in Japan. Had fun figuring out what a traditional Japanese hotel is like, we got a room with its own bathroom cause that seemed simpler. They leave robes and hot water in the hall, there's tea in the room. Overall great experience.

We had a lovely time at Wakamatsu Honten. We stayed overnight during our long layover at Narita airport. It was easily accessible by train + a short walk through the lovely town. Even at night we felt safe to walk there. We are visiting Americans and loved the traditional setup of the rooms. The front desk staff spoke English and were able to check us in, give us a tour, and answer our questions without issue. Dinner was included for our stay and it was an amazing experience of local cuisine and we tried a little bit of everything with all they brought out for us. The public bath was a unique experience for us and was so very welcome after a long flight to decompress. We would recommend this place to travelers and locals alike!

Can't figure out anything bad to say about my stay. The view was great, the location was great, the onsen was awesome, the dinner + breakfast was amazing. The room was fantastic. My only regret was not staying for more than 1 night.

Simply amazing. Located right in front of Narita shrine and park, you are welcomed with a great view. Dinner experience was amazing, fresh delicious ingredients combined in intricate ways to create amazing tastes. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The service was superb, carried our luggage to our room and introduced the room to us. Can't forget the amazing onsen as well. All in all highly recommended!!

It's really wonderful here. It's about 10 or 15 min walk from the train station. It's located right across from the temple in a charming neighborhood. We like to walk around to check out the shops nearby. Lots of nice places to eat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had the large room (sleeps 4) with the private bath. The room was quite spacious. We splurged to have a breakfast here. The breakfast is not to be missed. Beautiful presentation and wonderful flavor, and it was vegan (no eggs or meat)! It was unbelievable.

Great Ryokan to experience japanese culture in proximity to Narita Airport. The famous Narita temple is just nearby, and a day can be well spent as first or last day in Japan

Fantastic friendly service, both from the front English speaking front desk and non-English speaking service staff. We had an unrenovated room, and though it was not modern, it was large, spotlessly clean and very charming. The shared bath was not busy and it was the best thing being able to soak after a long day of travel. The dinner and breakfast was both excellent. Kid's meals were kid friendly and a good size. They didn't operate the shuttle from Narita Station that day but were happy to cover the taxi fare with no problems at all.

We regret not staying here 2 nights as we could have spent an entire day at the temple and gardens across the street. Farther from Narita airport than we thought, about $40 taxi but very close to train station. Beautiful large tatami room with large multiple course traditional style dinner (many different appetizer-sized plates). A great place to stay!

Liked the hotel overall, the bath was a little bit disappointing. I wish it was a bit more traditional. The staff was really helpful and provided us with a packed breakfast as we had to check out very early in the morning to catch our flight. Biggest attractions in Narita are right next to the hotel and we had a good time visiting the Naritasan and park, as well as the tourist shops on the omotesando.

A bit of a hike to get here from the nearest train station, but fantastic location right opposite the temple. The restaurants close by tend to close early for the daytrippers, but more food choices a short walk back to the station. Cute shared bath inside the building. Lovely tatami rooms and wonderful service. The breakfast was cool and strangely filling. Definitely worth going at least once

This is a fantastic traditional Japanese inn located directly across from Naritasan park. Staff are friendly, rooms are very clean, and the onsen (Japanese bath) feels great after a big travel day. Keep an open mind at meal time as you are in for an authentic Japanese dining experience. Lots of things to see and do within walking distance. Enjoy your stay!

Excellent service from the very friendly staff. Our room was an authentic ryokan, with nice views of the nearby Narita Buddhist temple complex. The on-site onsen was basic, but piping hot and clean. Plus, they offered us a lift to the Narita train station with our bags the following morning, which was extremely helpful to us for our flight back home.

There was a small error when we checked in, and they almost had me pay twice essentially, but they realised the mistake before it was made and were hugely apologetic. I would just say if you pay in advance make sure you remember that you have done so to avoid any confusion (I couldn't remember whether I had paid in advance or not at the time).

Great little Ryokan. A bit of a walk from narita Station but close to the temple and lots of restaurants. The room was clean and the futons were set up on the tatami matts while we had dinner. Would recommend the dinner or breakfast option if you can.
