Kawagoe Kita-in Temple

Really love this place. If it is open, please go inside. It is so serene. I feel I dated back in time. The 500 Buddha is also quite interesting. Be sure to step inside.

I was here in April but there were an annual ceremony so I couldn’t get in. I took some photo outside. This time there was also the morning ritual. After strolling inside for a while, the ritual was over, so we could get to the main hall. All are a worth visit.

Traditional looking temple but very well maintained.

It is quiet and peaceful. One thing quite unique about it was that there was some kind of plaza around it where there are many shops for food. Most of them were closed when I visited but seems like on the weekends must get busy.

The temple was undergoing some contructions as well which is a good sign to show that they still care about it.

It’s one of the most beautiful shrines I have been. We can also pay entrance fees and take a look at the temple inside. This temple has a history of 1200 years. The temple is well preserved and maintained for us to experience the history. So it’s a must to take a look inside. Buddha’s idol inside is very powerful.

Kawagoe Kita-in Temple is a Buddhist temple. The temple is also known as "Kita-in," and it is a branch temple of Enryaku-ji, a prominent temple located in Kyoto.

The main hall was built in the 17th century and is one of the few remaining examples of traditional Japanese temple architecture from that period.

I was so impressed with the surrounding garden. The garden features a pond, a waterfall, and a variety of plants and trees, including cherry blossom trees.

The temple houses over 5000 items, including Buddhist statues, paintings, and calligraphy. One of the most famous artifacts in the temple is the "Three Thousand Buddhas of Kita-in," a collection of miniature Buddha statues that line the walls of one of the temple's buildings.

The temple is located just a 15 minute walk from the train station and around 10 minutes from the centre of town so it’s easily accessible.

Lovely place In a beautiful small city of Kawagoe. You should visit it before you go to the center. Be shoure not to miss the small statues next to the temple.

This temple has existed for more than 1200 years long before Kawagoe city was even founded. The 500 disciples of Buddha statues were amazing. Each one different expressions and poses!!

You can go inside the temple. Had amazing experience learning about Japanese traditional tatami rooms from Edo period.

Beautiful shrine . Has a small museum with lots of beatiful artifacts and history on the place ! And a small cemetery

A place full of history . Visiting the back inner garden and a small exibition are a must.

It was a good place I think a little far from train station so that why the people there are not too much

One of my favourite spots in Kawagoe. Try to find your zodiac sign among the 500 statues!

It’s beautiful any time, but it’s really good for sakura blossom with a lot of old trees and party food stalls. Also it’s a good place to visit for 七五三 since the place is popular and you can enjoy seeing a lot of kids super-beautifully dressed in their kimonos.

A big temple with old Buddha statues. It is entrance free. Moreover, it is a good place for relaxation, meditation and giving prayers. The place is quite spacious. There is a free wifi in the area and a souvenir shop. A part behind the temple can be accessed but with an entrance fee of just 500 yen for an adult. Just think of it as an offering for the temple's maintenance.

Definitely going to Kawagoe at the new year was a spiritual experience in the Edo Tokyo, highly recommended.
