Hotel Grand Phenix

Perfect place to stop for a hot chocolate next to the slopes. Looks like a very fine hotel. We also had lasagne at the restaurant for lunch, kids loved it. Right next to the ski slopes, so walk out of the front door to the lifts.

Loved the service, food in the 2 restaurants, the tatami room we stayed in, the superb public bath with open air(snow) onsen and the beautiful lounge with a nice fire place.
Pity that snow didn't arrive in time for me to enjoy the ski in-out experience.

Definitely, the best luxury hotel in the Shiga-Kogen area.
Located at the far end of Shiga Kogen, there is also an excellent Italian restaurant, Japanese restaurant, bar lounge, sauna, indoor pool, and public bath with a stunning mountain view.
Especially, as a base for skiing, this is first-class place.

Nice and cozy place. Mostly repeater guests are staying. The staffs are very kind snd helpful. The area is a national park, so you can find easily some wildlife. The rooms are great, spacious, clean. The hotel is very close to the ski lift. You can enjoy the sauna and the indoor pool after a good day of skiing.

Very rare in Japanese-owned hotels, this hotel is a five-star hotel. The rooms are spacious, with two balls and some storage for luggage. It has direct ski access with ski lockers.
What differentiates this hotel from others is the service and attention to detail. I highly recommend this hotel for skiing, but weekend stays become full a few months in advance.

The scenery at Okushiga is simply beautiful and mesmerising. The snow is simply fine and powdery. This is the first time my son and daughter experience snow. Their excitement is indescribable.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at the hotel 3weeks ago. We were well-taken care of by the staff. Mr Takahashi and his colleague were attentive and prompt to our requests and helped us with everything from fitting our ski equipments, equipment replacement and luggage delivery service (TaQbin).

We left something behind in the room by accident but were able to have the items sent back to Singapore after the hotel swiftly made arrangement for the delivery after we contacted them :)

We acquainted with lovely Ikeda-san who was attending to us at the restaurant and had wonderful conversations sharing culture and experience over dinners and breakfasts.
Food was great and the view from the restaurant was amazing and beautiful.

Location is exclusive. However, the slopes outside the hotel were not opened for the season, so we couldn’t enjoy the ski-in/ski-out convenience but had to travel much further elsewhere. Exclusivity also mean it took much longer to get there on the Express bus and all our dinners were settled at the restaurants in the hotel. Dinner was slightly $$ but well-worth the money.

Just dropped in for an apres ski cafe latte and baked cheesecake. What a stunning European chalet and cosy cafe! And of course no one can beat the Japanese when it comes to baked sweet cheese!

Cosy Austrian style hotel. It's more upmarket and boutique than nearby Prince Hotel Group and unlike the former beautifully maintained and still has all the facilities. Ski in ski out. Lucky if you can get a good room rate to stay, or otherwise just drop in for great coffee in their lounge or lunch, choice of Italian or Japanese restaurants.

Beautiful hotel made in a European style. Staff are friendly and the ones who spoke English spoke it very well. Not cheap but this is one of the few really nice hotels in the area. Lovely coffee and lounge !

Excellent hotel in very special location. Kazuo Tajima, founder of the Phenix skiwear company, built the hotel with careful attention to detail, importing most of the materials from Austria to give it an authentic European chalet sensibility. The fireplace in the bar is a marvel of German engineering, cozy yet open on four sides. The Japanese and Italian restaurants are wonderful. Nice onsen and sauna. Staff are very helpful.

Didn't stay here but visited. If you're looking for good coffee, this is the only place we found. Coffee and cake set. Yummmm.

Didn’t get the chance to stay over, but after a glimpse of the guest rooms and lunch at the Italian restaurant, this place is pretty nice!

クルマ以外でのアクセスが難しいのが唯一の難点ではありますが、一度滞在すればその虜になる理由がわかります。特にスタッフの皆さんのホスピタリティが素晴らしいですし、お部屋を清潔に保ってくださるスタッフの皆さんもまた素晴らしかったです。ウィンターシーズンのみしか経験しておりませんが、グリーンシーズンも変わらないクオリティで迎えてくれると思います。

ホテル内に有るレストランのうち、スキー中のランチ時に和・中華レストラン篝火（かがりび）に訪問しました。
天ざるそばは、香り豊かでほのかに甘く、のどごしの良い蕎麦と、薄くてサクサクの衣を纏った天ぷらがとても美味しかったです。蕎麦つゆは塩味も甘味も控えめながら出汁がしっかりと効いていて、蕎麦に良く合っていました。
中華あんかけ焼きそばも野菜や魚介の味が滲み出て美味でした。

リピート客が多く、昔から今まで支持されている高原ホテル。
クラシカルで歴史のあるホテルですが、とても丁寧にお手入れされていて、清潔感があり居心地がいいです。部屋から太陽の光がよく入るので開放的な気持ちになれます。
スタッフの方はプロ意識が高いです。とても丁寧で礼儀正しく、親切な方が多い印象を受けました。
大浴場には大きなガラスの壁があり、朝には美しい四季折々の高原が見られます。
食事は色んなスタイルが選べます。和食も洋食もどちらも美味しいですが、洋食はとても絶品です。
