We visited the Bamboo Forest a bit before sunset, so on our way back we ran into the Kimomo Forest as it was already lit and it attracted our attention! It was a really pretty sight! 👘🏮

An enchanting experience! Perhaps the most exquisite railway station I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. I arrived on a January night, the darkness adding a mystique to the scene, while the kimonos glowed in their glass piles. The spot, though not expansive, is definitely worth a visit. A unique highlight – I had the entire place to myself. Pure enjoyment, but be mindful that this privilege might not be the same in high season. A small note of caution: Everything around the kimono forest was closed, creating a ghost city ambiance during the off-season. #MagicalStation #UniqueExperience

Glad we made the trip to arashiyama kimono forest. Such an experience and beautiful sight seeing. Must visit arashiyama kimono forest. It's the last stop of the arashiyama train.

Nice art project directly at the train station. Good, to have a look, but wouldn’t take the trip here, only for this.

Dip your hand in this fountain for some good luck, and stare that dragon right in the eyes! I loved this little art installation next to the train station. If you are in the area you must drop by!

A beautiful station when you use the Randen line.
Arashiyama Station (嵐山駅, Arashiyama-eki) is a tram stop in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan, and the western terminus of the Randen Arashiyama Line that begins at Shijō-Ōmiya. The station includes a small shopping arcade, outdoor eating areas, a foot bath, a garden featuring cherry and maple trees, as well as the "Kimono Forest," a collection of 600 kimono gowns wrapped around poles with LED lighting inside developed by the interior designer Yasumichi Morita.
In 2002 the "Arashiyama Hannari Hokkori Square" plaza was built, with the addition of the iconic foot bath in 2004. The station was completely renovated in 2007 and 2013.

Beautiful art display surrounding the train station. Would be amazing to see this at more stations worldwide wide.

I thought that Kimono forest is literally forest with many kimono trees, but it was not really like that, but still it was beautiful. There were some kimono tress along the way (nearby Tullys cafe) in the Arashiyama station (randen tram). Anyway, it's free.

Not a large area but the kimono designs are spectacular. There is also a train station in the compund with several cafes such Tully. Recommended to come after 5pm for best effects.

I feel like the only appropriate time to come is at night when they are lit up. Otherwise, it doesn't look that great during the day time.

This isn’t really a forest. But it’s a good place to click photos and it’s right next to a fancy train station with lots of good souvenir shops.

Lovely place to visit, especially after dinner. In addition, there's less crowd in Arashiyama Station (different from Saga Arashiyama Station) at night, making photo shoot a lot more pleasant. 😀

Gorgeous to visit at night! Stumbled upon it on my spring trip, and made sure to return for more pictures on my fall trip. Went at 1900 on a Wednesday night, and there was very few people.

An art installation interestingly situated at the Randen-Arashiyama station (Keifuku Randen Tram Line). They are basically kimono fabric placed in vertical tubes and arranged in different areas of the station and outside. The place is definitely unique, offering colorful visuals with the rolling hills of Arashiyama in the background. At night, the tubes are lit which makes it absolutely beautiful to look at! It is better to ignore the hype or the downplay, and enjoy the place for what it is! After all, how many other places can boast of a kimono forest?!
