We had a beautiful stay at Yorozuya! The building and Onsen are beautiful and the mountain town where it is located is also fabulous. It is a 40 minute walk to get to the snow monkey park from the hotel, so if you are a big walker it is easy to do on foot also.
The Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast that were included with our stay were also delicious.

First time staying at Ryokan so I may have no frame of reference.
Onsen was spacious, nice outdoor areas. Service was well mannered and thoughtful. Rooms were big and had a serene feel to chill in. Dinner and breakfast was filling and tasted fantastic. Walking distance from Lawson as well.

An absolutly amazing ryokan to stay at. We had a traditional room which was spotless and quiet. The futon were comfy and extremely warm.
We were lucky enough to have a private dinning experience for dinner and breakfast while we stayed, and the food was just incredible, clean, and had a large variety of dishes.
The onsen was so well managed. It was clean, and directions were clear. It was an absolutly stunning place to rest. You did have to be naked.
The staff were execeptionally kind, polite, attentive, and thankfull. Our stay with them was such a beautiful peacful time.
On a more personal note: a young man who assisted us during our stay, Ryusei, was so helpul and nice. While my wife was not feeling the best, he went out of his way to provide tea and warm blankets for her, as well as seeing to slight modifcations to her menu to ensure she was comfortable.
I cant thank you all enough for the care you showed us.

An amazing authentic Onsen experience. The room was massive, the futon comfortable, the Onsen was beautiful and the food delicious. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience a traditional Ryokan with board and Onsen.

The most gorgeous and relaxing onsen I've ever been to. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I hope to be able to visit again on day

The best ryokan I’ve ever been.
Marvelous service, they always tried to understand us since we talk in english.
They have private onsen which is amazing: sauna, hot room, two onsen, bed, massage couch, etc etc
We took breakfast and dinner in the restaurant… the service and attention were wonderful; the food… there are not words to describe it… delicious.
I simply love this place!

This review is for the onsens at this location. There are two onsens at this location which switch between men and women at certain intervals during the day. While both are great, there is one that stands out and I was told was a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was a remarkable onsen by which all future onsens will fail to measure up. You are able to access these onsens even if you are not staying at the resort; I paid 800JPY in November of 2022 and it was the best value I could hope for.

Stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The evening meals were excellent, the staff were nice and the room was pleasant. The exterior of the hotel needs some work, but inside it's very nice.
We stayed in the main part of the hotel, but there's also an other section with more elegant (and expensive) rooms that I'd like to stay at in future.
The onsen is one of the most interesting that I've been to.

Yumi and Akira looked after my friends and I with incredible caring and friendship. We felt like we were such important guests, nothing was too much to ask. They organised early breakfasts for us when we wanted to leave on early buses and Akira even drove us around to find a favourite restaurant that we couldn't relocate! He organised for us to be taken out to a restaurant and be collected again after the meal. Loved the little touches, like a special handmade gift of a tissue container and even a delicious apple each for our onward journey. Small gestures on their own but added together made for a wonderful stay. Enjoyed that two onsens that had different times so males and females could go to either onsen. We didn't end up having dinner at the ryokan but dinner smelt amazing each night - Yumi is such a wonderful cook. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful breakfasts each morning in our private breakfast room. Not sure if they organised the monkeys to visit....but we say some wonderful antics outside the rear entrance on two separate occasions. No need to go to the Monkey Park nearby! We stayed one week and had an amazing time.

We came for the snow monky parc and spent a night there . The rooms are very typical and spacious . We spent a very good moment in the beautiful onsen . The outdoor bath is absolutely fabulous . So beautiful . Lovely

Just wow! It is worth going just to see the main hall. I didn't stay at the hotel, only used the onsen, for 1300¥ it is a bit expensive, but it comes with a towel and face towel and the bath is really amazing. Definitely a great place to visit!

We stayed at this beautiful ryokan owned by Akira and Yumi's family for 3 days whilst visiting the monkey park and going to the nine individual onsens (apparently each one has its own healing properties). I can honestly say that out of our 3 week trip throughout Japan, this felt like a true and traditional Japanese experience and for us, the unbelievable hospitality of Akira and his family certainly made our stay so so welcoming. Very humbling and courteous towards the guests. Very attentive and beautiful people. This ryokan has an onsen inside so when tempuratures plummet outside, you can relax in the natural volcanic onsen inside.
I can also recommend the local restaurants and also the Shiga Kogen beers brewed locally at the Sake factory. Exceptional.
For those that want to experience the real Japan, look no further. 100%

Great food; this is an option if you are looking for a ryokan with a private bath outside your room. However, the main shared baths are really good, especially the Momoyama one; there are few onsens that look like this.
