Diamond Shiga

Very nice hotel with helpful staffs. Stayed here with friends for 8 nights and it was wonderful. Food was great and it is super close to the chair lift. When there is enough snow, you can definitely ski in/out.
I feel that the hotel does value costumers views and have been making continuous improvements in their service. I agreed with other reviews that this hotel is a little old, but that's the same with the entire Shiga. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would go back again. Great for value.

スキー場が目の前で最高の場所です。
昨年は、洋室で凄く良い感じでしたが、今回は、和室でした。
少しだけ部屋の感じが古いって思いました。汚いとかそういうことではありません。予約が遅かったのが原因でしょうか?
空いている部屋がそこしか無かったのかも。
次回は、早めに予約して良い部屋にしてもらおうと思います。

夜ごはんは、すき焼き&バイキングでデザートまであり子供達も大満足していました。お風呂も綺麗にされていてとても心地よかったです。

広くて綺麗な部屋、食事もついて、コスパが良いです。

Clean, comfortable and very convenient for ski lifts, bus stop, the only bar in Shiga Kogen etc. I'd stay here again. We had a western room with private bathroom. But I would caution that some of the things mentioned in the other reviews can create a not so good first impression. The heating and lights are off from 10-3:30, which was OK once we got the room warmed up on the first night, but does take a bit of getting used to. The decor is very 1980's, but we found it clean so was not a problem. Reception is on the second floor, so when you first arrive in a cold dark entrance, it seems like the place is closed. When the heating is on the room is super toasty, the onsen is good with a small sauna also. The breakfast is basic but reasonable. We didn't eat here in the evening (no veg options). Yes there was big school groups (we stayed at Christmas), but we had no wi-fi issues at all - it was very good in fact, and they herded the school groups into one area at breakfast, so it wasn't a huge issue. So overall, because it's Shiga Kogen and even the Prince Hotel can be a bit weird, I'd stay here again. (do bring a pillow if you can't cope with a hard japanese one!)

We had a lovely stay at Diamond Shiga. The couple that runs it are both so adorable and super helpful! Our room was basic with toilet but that's all you need. There is an onsen where you can wash and relax after a day on the slopes. The lifts are very close.
The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star was because the hotel can cater for large groups (which is good if you're in a large group) but when we stayed there was a large (100-200) group of school children which was frustrating not only because they were loud and disturbing during meal times, but the lifts were full, they were rude, clogged up the WiFi and inconsiderate during meal times (not leaving food for other people). Maybe hotel management should consider different meal times for big groups or different dining area?
But the the dinners are fabulous otherwise - usually a hot pot meal with plenty of other buffet options.
