Turtle Inn Nikko

Absolutely lovely staff. Really kind and sweet. The place has an excellent location: in walking distance from all sights in the middle of the good stuff. (10min from temples, 10min from bridge and still 10min from the amazing + quiet little hike to the gorge, with few tourists there).

Rooms are simple and the place is a bit older, but at a great price. We booked last minute and other hotels were 50-100% more expensive. Each room has their own sink, there’s more than enough toilets + also extra separate sinks. Breakfast was very tasty (fruit, drinks, juice, and 3 thick slices of buttered toast and jam).

Highlight: the two private onsen, available to use without added costs from 15-23h and 5.30-9.30am. I worried we might have to wait in line, but they were available almost all the time. Simply switch the sign to ‘occupied’ and it’s all yours. The owner was adorable.

Awesome and affordable spot to stay in Nikko. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful. The rooms are comfortable but a bit older. The private onsens are a great way to wind down. Location is convenient to many sightseeing spots and is a quick walk away from restaurants and a convenience store. Highly recommended!

The owners were wonderful, friendly people who made the one night stay warm and cozy. They can communicate in English pretty well too! The rooms and facilities were simple but clean and well kept, and the onsen bathroom was lovely.

The bus stop was a short 5 min away, and Toshogu Shrine was about 15 min. If you’re checking in at night/after sunset, the road leading from the bus stop to the inn is really dark... So if you can, try to get there before sunset.

Came in the off-season (early December) so we were probably the only guests there at the time. We had a great experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the natural hot baths were relaxing, and it was a short walk to the bus stops for sightseeing as well as a short walk away from many historical landmarks. 100% would recommend!

The room is very clean, and a little larger than I had thought. It's beautiful to look outside the window. There's no toilet nor bathroom inside each room, but public toilets are located on both 1st and 2nd floor. There are two bathrooms on the 1st floor. The keeper is very friendly, as she tells you many details about restaurants and convenient stores in this small town. The turtle toys are lovely. I like this place and I will consider living here if I come back again.

Situated in a residential area this in is peaceful and quiet. The Daiya river runs behind the property providing a gentle white noise in the room. The room itself is small, but clean and well arranged. Free onsen baths are available.
Staff is friendly and was eager to help direct me to places of interest, as well as recommending several places to eat out!

Very confortable, nice and clean Japanese-style room with Japanese bath (onsen) in shared corridor. Delicious breakfast in supplement. English spoking and very friendly host.

Nice quite place by the river and near the temples. There are 2 sento style bathrooms. So your stay comes with free private onsen!

有大家可以輪流使用的溫泉（自己一間） 溫泉沒什麼味道 記得先洗澡再進去

Die Leute die dieses schöne kleine Gasthaus wegen Veron Tiphaine schlecht bewerten kann ich nicht verstehen, ich bezweifle, dass die Betreiber auch nur das geringste damit zu tun haben. Ich bin gerade hier (27.10.2023) und nach all der Zeit hängt an der Türe noch ein Aushang dazu, was mir zeigt, dass die Betreiber immer noch betroffen sind. Die Lage ist hervorragend und mein Zimmer ist sehr gemütlich, freue mich auf meine 3 Nächte in Nikko.
