This Onsen is close to Nagano Station. We got there by taxi for ¥1400 from Zenko-ji Temple. Staff are all locals. They are friendly and attentive. We went for the private bath. The private room is big with a separate space to store your belongings and a separate section for the thermal pool. It comes with a view of very beautiful bonsai trees right outside. Perfect stop after a day of snowboarding.

We only stayed for 1 night on Dec 24 before we move to Hakuba for snow sports. The gentleman at the reception who attended to us is very kind, helpful, always going the extra mile and shown excellent customer service. Meals served in the room are of top notch quality and very delicious. We love the onsen! Highly recommended.

Our hotel recommended this for our first ever onsen experience! The name is called Uruoikan. It is 10 minutes away by taxi from the train station and they also have a hourly shuttle too that stops at the station.
We went on a weekday in the late afternoon. it was 800yen per person, bring your own towel, otherwise its an additional 330yen. It was our first time being fully skin-clad in front of all these strangers. There are lockers upon entry for shoes-100 yen. Lockers for bags within each male/female sections- 100yen. Dressing room with hairdryers. Observe the onsen etiquette and you be fine! I particularly loved the outdoor pool with a view of the cliffside. but 15minutes of it was enough!!!

A note on tattoos. i have about 7 small to medium size tattoos. I brought my own silicon scar tape and have it covered and presented to the staff first before entering. It was fine! I did get a few stares but all is well! There is a man in the reception who speaks fairly good english too. We are the only foreigners next to an indian family, the rest seemed to be locals. Enjoy!

We took a taxi from Zenkoji which cost 1100yen and took 10mins. Reception staff was professional and even though we spoke little Japanese, he managed to give us all the necessary instructions.
Mainly serving locals and local tourist, you can expect very few foreigners therefore I would rate it an authentic experience.
Free Shuttle services runs to and from the complex and a hotel next to the JR Nagano station.

The outdoor bath overlooks the opposite cliff and is beautifully done. There was a thin layer of snow when I visited. Inner bath pool is adequately sized and water was smooth and rejuvenating
Great bath, would recommend.

went for a quick evening bath, so glad I did it! A lot of locals come here. The view from the outdoor bath is great, it should be stunning during sunset. Recommend!

¥600 weekdays; ¥720 weekends and holidays. As mentioned. Nice outdoor hot spring with a little view of the beautiful mountains. You can’t see it but the place is located next to a river and park. Nice indoor baths with jacuzzi. Sauna’s free to use as well. Shampoo, conditioner and soap are provided. Shampoo and conditioner were alright but the soap smelled funky to me. 7 hairdryers are provided.
Upstairs there’s a decent restaurant and rest area. Hot spring water provided instead of normal water.

We can take a bath from early in the morning. it's crowded especially in the morning of national holiday and the next morning of rainy days. I recommend the black peppered bacon bread.
One car driver said the Google map is not appropriate to show you the way. It shows the drivers very narrow paths. I suppose the shuttle bus from the Central station is the most convenient.

This was my first tinge visiting an Onsen in Japan and I was not disappointed. The spot is definitely for locals so everything is in Japanese. That said, it made the experience that much more authentic and the staff kindly explained everything. Keep in mind that this is a traditional Onsen so ensure that you cover up all tattoos. I do have a small ~6 by 6 inch tattoo on my back that I covered up with a waterproof bandage bought from a local pharmacy; staff confirmed that it was totally fine and none of the locals seemed to mind.

Easy to reach with the Shuttlebus from the metropolitan hotel next to the strain station. Traditional Onsen so no tattoos and men/women separated. Beautiful scenery from the outside pool.

If you stay in Nagano, definitely go to relax into this Onsen. Open for public just for 600 YEN. Very simple with many little pools and water around 40C.
Towel is possible to rent for additional cca 300YEN.

Never felt more relaxed than I did after my bath here. It’s the life of luxury for cheap.

Dip into natural hot spring and cleanse all your anxious thoughts.......

I have been coming here for years it is such an amazing onsen, with outdoor pools looking into nature.

It has a car park, also other facilities, such as a restraunt, place to relax, and massage on offer. You can enjoy free green tea upstairs.

There are massage chairs and a place to sit and wait on friends. You can get a bus, but l like to walk explore the local area.

Like all Onsens tattoo is prohibited, but if you only have a few you can tape them up. Staff have slwaus been friendly and helpful where needed. 🙏

If you stay around Nagano station, this should be the nearest day use onsen. We took 25mins walk from Nagano station, but later realize there are scheduled shuttle bus.

Very relaxing onsen right by a river that runs along the side of a mountain. They also have family baths you can reserve for couples.
