Mash Café & Bed NAGANO

Good location, close to the train station and plenty of restaurants. The bed was clean and comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and I liked having a large lounge space to use outside of business hours. I didn’t mind that the first floor was only usable outside of business hours because I was out of the hostel during that time. I appreciated having free coffee and water.

The Italian cuisine was amazing. As an Italian who has lived in Japan for the past 5 months and tried quite a few pizzas around the Tokyo area, this one was one of the best I have had. I definitely recommend eating at their restaurant while staying there.

What a find. Emergency accomodation for us after the 7.6 earthquake in Honshu, as our trip to Kanazawa had to be cancelled. There service was wonderful, everytime we walked in the door we were welcomed with a smile.

Walking distance from nagano station. Awesome pizzas! We had quatro fromage, prosciutto pizza and smoked chicken pizza. The toppings were delicious and the crust very well made. Price of pizzas is very reasonable.

Staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

What I knew but probably didn't realize is that the mixed room is extremely huge, has 42 beds all into one area. But the room does feel like there's more than sufficient space between bunks. The way the bunks are built meant that every slight knock against the sides with the hanger or your elbow would let the entire row know someone's clumsy in their bed. There's a blackout curtain that makes the bunk dark, conducive for sleeping, but can also make it difficult to regulate the airflow in the bunk. Beds are comfy, more suited to back sleepers.

There's a nice sized numbered locker you can throw your day pack and valuables in if you don't want to lug everything around when you head out for the day.

If you decide to try at least one of the craft beers at the bar, make sure you try the Ise Kadoya IPA that's made with Sake. Not too hoppy, has a light sweet taste.

A great dormitory to stay for. The staff is amazing here, very cooperative and they know good English. The dorms are of good enough size. The bus stop is just 2 mins walk from the hostel. They have free drinks at night too.

Booked 4 bedded with private bathroom.

I overlooked the hotel doesn’t provide bath towel but you may rent with 300yen per towel. I only came to realise after 8pm and immediately i email to Mash Cafe & Bed to request for towel renting. We are expecting to check in around 11pm which the reception will be off duty at 10m before our arrival.
Luckily they received my email and replied at 10pm that they have help me to rent the towel and leave it in our room and the payment for towel rental can be pay tomorrow. I really appreciate the kind arrangement.

It’s convenient location and walking distance to Nagano station and there is 24hours supermarket opposite.

A great option for one day trip. Hostel is modern and clean place. Staff can speak English and they're so nice. There is also restaurant with amazing pizza for such a cheap price - around 900yen, they offer good beer and all you can drink menu for hotel guests. I love this place. In the restaurant they have a working place - ideal for remote working.

It is a super convenient comparing to the price and really nice for a night stay. Highly recommend for a solo traveler.

staff is good, washrooms also clean and nice.
There's soap, shampoo and conditioner in the shower room.
And also a locker for each bed. They are located separately. Find yours.
A small light, two sockets one is USB,futons, pillow and two hangers in the cell.. And also free wifi.

You may need to bring or get other things such as towels, toothbrushes, night dress.
Or you can get them from the Cafe for a comfortable low price.

Only issue I met was there's no way to lock your cell.
There's a curtain and it is the only thing which covers you from the outside world.

Shower rooms and toilet are located outside the sleeping area. so you might need to bring slippers.

Overall, I was really satisfied with the experience and I would definitely select again if need.

Nice place, good and modern design. Beds are spacious, soft and warm. Shower is provided. Good place for a night stay. Position is very convenient - near the station and a lot of shops nearby.

New backpack hostel and the service is pretty good. The lobby is an open area providing free coffee and soft drinks. The room is pretty clean and the bedroom is quite clean.

Good hostel with delicious pizza and craft beer downstairs. Hostel guests can enjoy a free soft drink bar and coffee in the morning!

Free drinks, nice hand made pizzas can be ordered as a lunch. Personel is really sweet and skilled. Beds are clean.

Clean, organized, and affordable. The pods are roomy too when compared to other places I've stayed at. Don't forget your ear plugs though!

Nearer to station.. we have a best capsule and living experience in mash cafe... Amidst of your wired and tired trips around Nagano this is the best place to rejunuvate yourself and continue your trips... Ambience was cozy and comfy..

Nice nozawa black craft beer on the tap. Accommodation clean and basic.

About the Café part : very kind and helpful staff, delicious pizza, 100% recommanded
About the Bed part : free drinks at the bar, fridge and microwave available, conveniant for 1 or 2 night but not very suitable for long stay as their is no proper kitchen

At first I was put off by having to pay extra for towels. However by Day 2 after interacting with the staff and receiving outstanding service I no longer cared about those towels.

Great Place to stay if you like meeting other fellow minded passengers it is clean and functional.
