Excellent gym with friendly staff. Bit of an old school bodybuilding gym but the equipment is good. I got a nice t shirt for about £23 which is 5500 yen.

Day pass is about 3000 yen. I got one free using the line app from their website. Very simple to use.

Also bought a protein shake from them for about 600 yen (large, 50g protein).

Would come back again.

Powerhouse Tokyo is a great gym.

Coming from a similar power lifting gym (Strong & Shapely in New Jersey, USA) this was a great place to stay pumped while traveling.

It is small compared to the US gyms I am used to, but has pretty much everything you need to get a good workout in.

Be mindful that visitors can only enter during specified times (check the site for exact times) and outdoor shoes can not be worn in the gym. You can rent indoor shoes from them for about 300 yen.

It was about $9 total for a day pass as of the time of this review ($1 = 150 yen)

All in all, a great place to workout, highly recommend!

I came here twice for a day pass. Price was 3500 yen plus another 300 for indoor shoe rental. I did not get a cheaper price on the first day like some other people have? The first day the guy behind the desk spoke English, the second time we needed help with Google translate. Lockers are provided.

The gym is pretty nice for getting a good workout in. It has pretty much everything you need. There are no duplicate machines however, so if someone's using what you want you'll have to wait. Most machines are plate loaded - there are only a couple machines with weight stacks. There's one half rack. It's unclear how they feel about heavy deadlifts. There's some padding at the half rack but not a full deadlifting platform.

At 10am on a Thursday and Friday it was not busy. Thursday there were a handful of other people. Half were body builder types with pump covers, the other half were seniors. On Friday there was only one other person there.

Tattoos are not a problem and it does not seem like grunting is discouraged judging by the Ronnie Coleman videos playing. Both things that seem like they are issues at most other gyms.

Overall pretty good gym. My only complaint is that I wish they were open at 9 instead of 10.

I was very pleased to find a Powerhouse Gym in Tokyo and in a convenient location also. A small scale gym, but features enough equipment for a good bodybuilding workout and, interestingly, there are beautiful IPF approved iron plates. Head upstairs and follow the directions to the reception area, reasonably priced for a day pass. I would go back the this gym if in Tokyo again.

An old-school gym with great staff and atmosphere. Loved every moment of my training here. Will visit again next time I stay in Hatagaya.

A small gym spread out over 3 floors. Has all the equipment that you need for the advanced lifters. The gym staff can speak English and are friendly. Merchandise such as clothing, supplements and lifting personal gear can be purchased. At time of writing, a day pass is 1,000Y. Don’t forget to bring separate shoes for the gym as they do not allow outside shoes to be worn!

Honestly shout out to the owner of this powerhouse for allowing tattoos to be shown at this gym. I have been to powerhouse in Las Vegas and Torrance, California. This gym holds the powerhouse standard. Great gym.

Small but mighty. Lotta big guys so you know it’s a good gym. If you are just visiting Tokyo I’d pick an off peak time to go as the gym is tiny by western standards and let the local meatheads have their equipment. The staff were very friendly and helpful and enormous 💪

Foreigner friendly, first day pass is 1000 yen, after that subsequent daily passes are 3500 yen. Gym spans 3 floors, on the first one is the reception with lockers, and on the other 2 are machines. Pretty friendly staff.

Just moved to Shibuya and the staff here were awesome when dealing with my broken Nihongo.

Gym is a bit small, but if you're on your grind it's the perfect spot.

I like this place, smaller than what we're used to in Australia, but I felt productive. Watching the old videos' of Ronnie Coleman and Ray Cuttler was motivating, and I wish we had that here (Melbourne). Good secure, locker system. Cheap rates. They offer shoe hire. Merchandise.

Good hardcore gym for people that are serious about lifting. Can be cramped at times but if you usually go during off hours it’s bliss. Coming from your average golds in the us it is small but gets the job done with many unique machines. it’s not unusual to walk in and see some shredded shirtless dude pumping. 24 hours but is pricey at over 12,000 yen a month.
