Cafe Shimamun+

The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are welcoming and helpful, and the food is incredible! There are many wonderful restaurants on the island and this is one of them! The ingredients are very fresh and there is a lot of love put into the dishes.

Very delicious Pizza and the great thing is they are open throughout in between lunch and dinner hours so you can alwygrab a good bite and even more take out the pizza depending on how busy they are. So we got the pizzas for late lunch and ate them on our seaview balconies at the next door Sunflower Hotel the only lodging on the island with sea view as it gets a right on the beach. So during rainy time it was still so enjoyable to have a delicious pizza and see the turquoise ocean and also first to notice when the rain is over from there. Many other hotels on the island send their staff to Shimamun to pick up foods for their customers so this says it all. They do not deliver so you have to pick it up. Needless to say it gets crowded because even the locals flock here with their kids so you need to get early if you want to sit in as there are not that many tables. Pasta and salad were delicious too and the nice barista coffee. Other restaurants can be unfriendly but not this place, the main staff lady was very kind and cute and even reminded us to observe the Sunset after the rain as it is rather beautiful. Will definitely do again this combination of Shimamun+ Hotel Sunflower 3rd floor and not look further.

Cocktails are good and they have a good choice of alcohol.
Some are made with island's fruits as well as dessert.

Absolutely amazing food. We were here for only 2 days and came here 4 times for meals and drinks. It's the best spot on Tokashiki. Very impressed with the Italian food and how the chef makes so many delicious dishes. The perfect place to unwind and enjoy good food.

We visited in the low season, December, and the food was amazing. Limited choices around town but this is a must. Probably the best coffee on the island which is unfortunate because it’s not open in the mornings, well not in December at least. Definitely add to your list for food.

Excellent food with a quiet, relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

Their specialty is the squid fried rice and it’s worth a try. The fish and chips is also pretty good.

OMG - such a find and talk about value for money! Didn't expect this on a tiny island like this. Italian bubbly, wild boar, grilled seafood and pizza and wrapping up with Irish Coffees, Scotch and Calvados etc - all for less than AUD100...! Crazy value for money! Would recommend to anyone who's after a nice (and different) meal! Enjoy!

This Italian/Okinawan/European-style restaurant provides tasty food for a very reasonable price no less.
While you're here, you should give the seafood a try (aquapazza,spaghetti vongole,crab spaghetti,etc.), even if you're not into fish!
Best food of Tokashiki island!

This cafe/restaurant is a hidden gem. The food served is really sophisticated and delicious. Specially for a small beach little town. Italian and Spanish dishes are really well achieved. The desserts are to die for. The drinks menu is great with a large variety of cocktails. We went almost every night during our stay in Aharen beach. Owners are really kind and friendly.

As an Italian I must say it satisfied my pasta cravings. They adapted the menu to make the meal vegetarian. Thank you

Like I'm only halfway through my meal and I had to drop the 5 stars. Epic food. Everything is amazing. This place would be good in the city. Hard to believe it in a tiny village on a tiny island. Only issue is you might wait a while for your food if there are people ahead of you as the kitchen is small. But worth the wait.

I'm not even done with my meal, but had to give this lovely cafe 5 stars. They serve lunch and dinner. Primarily Italian-themed cuisine. We had an excellent anchovy-marinara pizza, prosciutto salad, local strawberry sour cocktail, and cappuccinos and cheesecake to finish. Great service and prices, would absolutely come back!

I only tried tiramisu and coffee here. Tbh I didn’t expect I could enjoy high quality sweets on the island. Sooooo good! I wish I could try more of their dishes.

Best place to have lunch or dinner in the Aharen area. The waiting time to be served is sometimes a bit long, because the owner works mostly alone, but it’s worth every minute as the food is deliciously prepared. Came here over 20 times, and will definitely come again!

Cute little place! Seemed to be one of the few places open, probably in light of the new year celebrations. Delicious Italian food with a Japanese twist. The hot chocolate is so good!

Cozy place with superb food and coffee. We were happy to discover this little gem when everything else was closed (off-season).

Best cafe on the whole island. It’s a must visit!
