Jazz Bar Samurai

Amazing atmosphere. The owners are very nice and if you speak a little Japanese it will go a long way. We talked about music for a while. The pizza was great and they even had doritos. The drinks are well made as well. If you're looking for a jazz bar in Shinjuku this is definitely the place. I want to come back already.

This place is definitely picture book definition of a “hidden gem“!
It is quite difficult to find and I think it would be almost impossible to stumble over this place on your own if you aren't looking for it - it makes the atmosphere of the bar even more special though.
The inside is decorated with a lot of knick-knacks but it weirdly feels like everything is exactly where it's supposed to be, not a single of the insane amount of cat figurines and statues seems misplaced!
The cat theme of the bar is not only honored in the decorations but in the menu as well - the dish we received (most likely connected to the cover charge) were sardines in a can and many of the drinks had cat inspired names (ねこ手、ねこ姫 etc.)
I'm definitely a cocktail person and was completely satisfied with the flavor of them.

On another note, I've been told that the owner of the bar is quite eccentric and while I can't confirm that since we only briefly interacted while asking about the drinks, just like the decorations and drinks, he fits in really well with the vibe of the place - his presence felt right at home 笑

An esoteric kitsch jazz record experience. Worth visiting for the decor and the ambiance. A place to get a taste of Japanese whisky while listening to rare jazz records in your hoarder uncle's living room.
Would recommend.

The drinks are a super fair price.
I was surprised the jazz wasn't live - I thought if there was a cover it would be?
but still really good exp! The drinks were lovely and made up for it. The speakers were also excellent, it felt live.

- much more ginger forward and fizzier

- too alcohol forward for my tastes
- best in small sips

Manekineko longing ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
- fruity and refreshing
- not overly sweet
- a little overwhelming for me as a whole deink

My experience of Samurai jazz bar is one that I will not forget.

The decor and vibes of this joint are as tasteful as the music selection. The owner, (jiken?) is extremely nice and hospitable. Although I do not speak Japanese, he took the time to converse with me in with google translate. My friends and I ordered multiple food options along with drinks and they all exceeded our expectations.

I can definitely say this is an experience I will not forget ! Thank you for the service and the memories.

Great relaxing place having a few drinks and listening to jazz, excellent customer service and atmosphere. We loved it here and would definitely return soon.

This place is an awesome hidden gem, definitely try their plum wine! Oh, and there's over 2000 cat models too! It's not touristy and feels really quite authentic. It's a little hard to find but keep trying until you do.

Great traditional Japanese jazz bar with very good service and lovely whisky. Recommended for those who wish to go for an experience. Unfortunate that there isn’t a live band. Would love that. :)

The atmosphere and interior of the bar is very authentic with so many Manekineko figures.

Although he couldn't speak alot of english and neither could I speak alot of Japanese, Hearing the names of Jazz artists that he likes is enough for me to understand and so did he understand me when I mentioned my favourite ones.

A charming and eccentric jazz bar, located right next to Shinjuku station. If you like jazz tunes, great cocktails, and memorable experiences, I heartily recommended coming her for a few drinks!

I visited this place today for the first time. It was beautiful and full of cats pictures on the wall. The owner was working hard and hadn’t the time to chat and I respect that. It was a great experience and will visit again❤

The collection of Japanese cats is incredible - highlighted my very first evening in Tokyo. Was completely empty, jazz played in the background and the bartender made us lovely drinks.

Nice cosy little local jazz music bar. Not big but comfortable and the owner has an amazing collection of so many different Japanese and classic decor give a place a very authentic feel! Recommended comfy place. Not sure if there’s any live Jazz but when we were there, it was mainly playing Jazz music only.

Excellent bar serving up beer, whiskey, snacks, and the funkiest/busiest/expirmental jazz you can get your hands on. Not for amateurs. Great atmosphere even when you are the only one there.

Really good pizza and good selection of drinks. Not many people go so it's good for some alone time with a friend. The jazz atmosphere is pretty cool lots of little knick knacks to show its jazz themed. I didn't do the karaoke so I can't review that experience.

Went to the experimental jazz afternoon on Sunday 26th May 2019. It was wonderful! They invited me to play on the last piece of music and I played the very last note. It was also the first note I played. The owner complimented me on my great timing. Thank you for the great whisky sour and the great music! I will never forget!

A very cool bar in Shinjuku with a friendly host and awesome jazz music. We arrived late but the host happily let us in for a few drinks, we sat at the bar and got chatting and had a great time. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a cool, good vibe bar in the area to check it out. Especially if you enjoy good jazz music, you won't be disappointed!

Located close to the station (look for the beckoning cat sign close to a sushi place), it's easy to reach. The atmosphere is great, interior very unique and the jazz collection extensive. Must-do for jazz and cat afficionado's, definite recommend for all others!
