Villa Mango

I had the most wonderful experience staying at The Mango House during my visit to Amman, Jordan. This charming building, located on Mango Street, offers an unparalleled view of Jabal Akhddar and downtown Amman, making it a truly memorable place to stay.

The architecture of The Mango House is a true testament to the genius of architect Mukhtar Saqr. The smooth rose stone construction and the exquisite wrap-around balconies are nothing short of breathtaking. It's evident that the house stands as a shining example of a new style of Jordanian architecture, distinct from its predecessors of the 1920s and 30s, as well as its contemporaries from the 1940s. The thoughtful design, with clear separation of rooms, adds to the uniqueness of the experience.

The rich history of The Mango House adds a layer of depth to the stay. Built by the Mango brothers, Kamal and Ali, in the late 1940s, it is a part of the illustrious business dynasties of Amman during that era. The fact that it was initially constructed to accommodate two brothers showcases the thoughtfulness and care put into its design. Knowing that the Mango family still occupies the house today, further connects you to its heritage and legacy.

During my time at The Mango House, I felt the warmth and hospitality that comes from a place with such a rich family history. The attention to detail in the house's interior, which was remodeled in the 1970s and further improved in 1995, only adds to the overall comfort and pleasantness of the stay.

I highly recommend The Mango House to anyone visiting Amman. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast or simply seeking a unique and memorable accommodation, this place offers an unforgettable experience. The breathtaking views, historical significance, and warm ambiance make it a perfect choice for your stay in Jordan. مبنى مميز جميل على تقاطع شارع عمر بن الخطاب مع شارع الرينبو " قديما كان يطلق عليه شارع مانجو"
يطل المبنى باتجاه الجبل الاخضر الذي يقع على الجانب المقابل من الوادي وسط عمان,تم تصميم منزل منكو من قبل المهندس المعماري مختار صقر, تم بناء منزل منكو في أواخر الأربعينيات من قبل الأخوين كمال وعلي منكو، أبناء حمدي منكو ، إحدى السلالات التجارية الرئيسية,لا تزال عائلة منكو تعيش في المنزل لهذا اليوم.
