A large square dominated by the impressive Roman Theater. A place where locals come to see and be seen. The Roman Theater is impressive during the early evening.

What’s a beautiful place it is.
The views are fantastic from the top, you can actually see the Amman Citadel from here. There is a point in center from where you can listen the echos. Jordan pass is included so you don’t have to pay. One of the must visit place in Amman Downtown. The rainbow street and the market street is very close by so that you can walk.

More appropriate to call this the Roman Amphitheater. There is a tiny museum that has Arab artifacts of interest.
Very steep stairs polished by millennia of shoes.
Photos show musical performance set up for royal wedding.

Cool place to sit in the early evening and watch the locals. Loved one guy shared sunflower seeds with us and chatted a bit, before saying his prayers under a tree. Played wee bit of football with the kids. Lovely open public space

It was built between 138CE and 161CE, during the reign of Antoninus Pius. It was designed to keep the sun off spectators, and seat up to 6,000 people. It was later restored to its glory around 1950's by the royal family. ....ALL ARE WELCOME ... bring someone to remember the memories ...

The Hashemite Plaza is a restored square with several old monuments attached; you have the Roman coloumns, the Roman Theathre, the Odeon and the Nymphaeum flanking the big plaza. Always a lot of peple playing and trying to sell stuff. As a tourist you will be targeted by the touts, of course, but don’t be discouraged, it’s also a lot more of normal Jordanians that are eager to test out their English… and they all are pretty good at it. I experienced that they helped me getting the touts away in exchange of talking English and taking photos with them. They got me tea and we played some soccer and exchanged Snap-addresses. Absolutely worth a visit or two. Keep in mind entrances to the Roman Theatre and Odeon is included in the Jordan Pass should you have that.

Takes you back centuries . You can feel the crowd cheering for the gladiator when you take a position in the theater. The modern plaza has been well developed . Loved the atmosphere .

The Roman Amphitheater in the heart of Amman is a majestic example of ancient craftsmanship and architecture. The amphitheater is incredibly well-preserved, with all its grandeur and splendor on display. The sheer size of the amphitheater is staggering, with over 6,000 seats arranged in a perfect semicircle. The amphitheater was originally built during the Roman Empire and has since been restored to its former glory. Walking into the amphitheater is like stepping back in time to an era of gladiators and epic battles. You can almost hear the roar of the crowds and the clashing of swords. It's an awe-inspiring sight that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Also known as the Amman Roman Theater, these remnants from the time when Amman was one of the cities of the Decapolis, and called Philadelphia, are well worth a visit. The theater was very big, capable of seating 7000 people at a time, and is in very good condition. There are VIP seats in front. In addition, there's a much smaller theater off to the side, that only seated ~300, and was likely used to conduct gov't business. On each side if the main stage of the larger space are two nice museums. One has amazing mosaic fragments from the Byzantine era.
