Hampden Sugar Estate

We had a shore excursion from Royal Caribbean. A great Air conditioned Bus about an hour ride from the port. A forty-five minute tour of the property. Our Tour guides explained the process of making Rum really well. We tasted over proofed Rum for the first time. It was way too strong for Me, but they did add lime and bitter after to help complete the drink. It was a great experience.

Our tour guide, Steve, was amazing! He was fun and knowledgeable. This is one of the best tours we've been on. You get a full understanding of their rum-making process, great food, and rum tastings at the end. Would definitely recommend. Note that getting from Falmouth port to the estate can be difficult - a lot of taxis will be hesitant to take you because the roads are rough. The whole experience with transit time was just over 5 hours

A wonderful place with history. It was a very interesting rum tour with tasting. Highly recommended and not so crowded.

This rum tour was one of the coolest distillery experiences we’ve ever had. It’s simply incomparable to any other tour experience we’ve had(Carlsburg, Heineken, Tullamore Dew, Bushmills, Jameson, etc). The tour guides are so friendly and interested in their guests. The lunch & tasting were highly personal with awesome information about the history of the estate. Steve knew the science behind distilling so well! We stayed at the Iberostar in Montego Bay which was about 1 hour from the estate. Be prepared for a very bumpy ride through the Jamaican countryside— but it’s SO worth it!!

Absolutely amazing experience. The property was beautiful and well taken care of. Good to see historical places being preserved and cared for.

Steve was our tour guide and he was excellent, very knowledgeable and an absolute asset to that company. I learned so much that even as a Jamaican I didn't know. Very thorough tour.

Every sense was awakened at that place, so many different scents throughout the tour. The Food was good at the end and the rum was 👌🏽. I would definitely recommend and even revisit.

The one thing I will say is it wasn't the easiest to find so double check the route Google tells you by asking locals.

Very cool experience. Not very touristy but even more into the real production of rum. Beautiful location but quite a ride from Negril.
In my personal opinion, Hampden is better than the others ;-)

Excellent tour. I booked in last minute (couple of hours before) and was accommodated by Mosi and warmly welcomed when I arrived.

The tour was fantastic and really interesting with many years of history. Of course the rum tasting at the end is a highlight. Lovely Rum and a great place!

It's about a half-hour journey from Falmouth along an old country road. The property is rich in history and the staff and friendly and informative. Great rum experience!

Great tour! I recommend it. Steven is very knowledgeable , we learned a lot about the process of manual rum.

Loved my guide Steve! The grounds are beautiful and the rum factory smells divine, even through my mask!

The rum tasting at the end was also delicious. I tried both the overproof (anything over 51% alcohol and thus over 100 proof) and the exported gold bottle neat (without anything in it). Loved the gold bottled rum, smooth and full of flavor with depth to be enjoyed neat. The overproof needed mixers for me.

Fascinating history lesson of the country and its people thrown in for free too! The tour of the factory was so interesting and I needed to buy some at the end of the tour too. Remarkably reasonably priced for the tour and the bottles for taking home.

This beats all the other distillery tours I've taken. It was entirely different - stimulates all your senses, and your mind. Beautiful and manicured but also gritty, aromatic, informative, historical and science-y. Includes tasting and the most complex/balanced rum pouch I tasted on vacation. Steep discount on some great rum. Shout out to Steve, our guide, for being knowledgable, professional, and personable. Thanks for that!

Excellent tour from Shelly Ann. History of Jamaica, history of rum and a superb lunch of jerk pork (chicken an option) with generous tastings. $50 US pp. Or you could pay Viator $172 for the same trip. We drove, but if you don’t have a car and have 3-4 people, negotiate a cab and keep the money in Jamaica.

Good tour ... learnt a lot of history and about the reach of Jamaican rum.

Wonderful and historic tour! All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They explained the history behind Hampden estate and the Rum was very good! We really enjoyed the lunch, rum, and the entire staff at Hampden estate!

Absolutely great time! Loved the brief history lesson, it's super informative but they keep it interesting. The tour of the distillery was fascinating; their process and adherence to tradition is something to be experienced! Finishing the your with a tasting was perfect! Our tour guide did a great job guiding us through the flavors of the rum.

I attended this place today our tour guide was a lovely young lady she started off by giving us rum punch , she gave a wonderful history lesson about the estate and it was quite interesting. I cannot say how lovely the tour was to see the old workings of a rum distillery was fantastic. The inner workings of the mill looks quite old but I guess that adds to its uniqueness. And to top it off the rum tasting was nice even though rum ain’t my drink I enjoyed it especially the dark aged rum.
