Martha Brae Rafting Village

We had no reservation, simply drove to the rafting village in our rental car, walked right in, paid for a raft, and boarded with no wait time at all. The cost was less than half of what we would have paid online from Montego Bay. Our guide was very informative and entertaining. It is a relaxing, calm trip. Because we did not book through a tour group, we were virtually on the river by our self. I broke my leg 4 weeks ago and my wife has a very hard time getting up and down on low seats. The crew helped both of us, and we had no problem at all. You don't even get wet feet! Very gracious staff, and the club sandwich we purchased at the cafe at the end of the trip was incredible.

Very relaxing trip down the Martha Brae River on a wooden raft pushed along by the guide so you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the journey and take in the lush flora and fauna and any wildlife you may encounter...will go back on my next visit!

It is a great 1 hour boat ride. If you buy tickets at the location, it will cost 90 usd per boat, one boat allows 2 adults and one kid under 10

This is something that needs to be in everybody's bucket list to do at least once - visitors and locals alike. It's better to park at the end and wait for a company truck to shuttle you the mile or so to the top. When you get there, friendly and courteous staff await you with the utmost sense of professionalism. They'll get you tickets for your raft(s), life vests and a complimentary drink.

A raft is slated for a maximum of 2 adults and 1 child so plan accordingly. When you get to your raft, you can trust your captain. All the captains are trained and certified and the majority of them have been catering to visitors for decades. This was my 5th visit and we have never been disappointed. We went with Captain Cleve Campbell. It was so lovely.

Bring extra cash; there are local vendors along the river who procure fresh sugarcane, seasonal fruit, beer, cocktails and other refreshments, shawls and wares you can purchase on your coasting down. Don't worry; the captain is able to "park" your raft at your bequest in the event you'd like to make a purchase. Ensure you ask for a bag to store any garbage or waste items you've used while on the raft. The vendor may offer one but if they do not, please ask. This waterway is truly clean. Let's keep it that way.

If you'd like to get in the water, discuss with your captain (even if you're an avid swimmer) so he is able to secure your life vest and ensure you have a good time swimming. Listen to his guidance and have a fantastic time enjoying the cool, pristine, refreshing embrace of the Martha Brae River.

Your captain may also give you the opportunity to fill his shoes for a portion of the journey, if you so desire. Ensure you've brought a pouch or something to secure your camera/ phone so you can take pictures. Altogether, rafting on the Martha Brae is more than just a ride; it's an experience.

Relaxing, scenic spot. Our guide Rick was knowledgeable and fun. If you get the chance to row the raft yourself for a bit DO it🤣. The mosquitoes were not too bad but still spray yourself down.
