Hospiten Montego Bay

My family and I have been going to Hospiten for years and I’ve never really had any complaints. My sister is epileptic and was having seizures that we’ve never seen before and her pills weren’t helping; her seizures were causing her to lose consciousness so we had to rush with her to the hospital. We went to Cornwall Regional in the emergency section. Porters were there but no one came to assist which caused an argument between myself and one of them. We waited and waited for a nurse to see us but the wait seemed eternal and nurses weren’t there. My sister was having seizure after seizure to the point that other persons in the emergency room thought my sister was going to die. I had to take my sister from there to Hospiten expeditiously. As soon as we arrived the porter came with the wheelchair in a hurry and I ran inside to register and immediately there was a doctor tending to her; putting oxygen mask on her. I am writing this review while emotional. Let’s just say that Hospiten saved my sister. My only hope is that the average Jamaican could afford the services because though it is pricey (international hospital) it seems like our best bet in the western region for emergency care. I want to say thank you to Heidi (front desk) for going above and beyond and for helping my mother with getting the ambulance for my sister after I had left.

My resort’s nurse made arrangements for me to be seen here. I had travellers insurance so everything was directly billed to my insurance. I was in their care for a little over 7 hours and everything went so smoothly. Everyone, from my nurses, imaging technician and my doctor were amazing. I came in very bad shape but left feeling like i was going to be okay. Thanks to all the wonderful healthcare staff who made my experience pleasant and comfortable in a scary situation.

I had a great experience at Hospiten in Montego Bay, while visiting Jamaica from the US. I fell and got a concussion and stitches at my resort by the resort doctor, and needed to get a CT scan to rule out further damage as I was having short-term memory issues. So we drove roughly 80 minutes from Negril to Montego Bay to go to the Hospiten ER as they had the closest CT machine. The receptionist (Barbara) was very courteous and attentive. They did require a deposit payment in advance and then refunded us the unused remainder afterwards. We were lucky in that it was not busy at all when we arrived and so we were seen very quickly - within about 15 minutes and that was mainly just us completing the paperwork and deposit payment. I saw Dr. Clarke who was helpful, patient and a pleasure. I got a CT scan which thankfully was clear. The whole process including checking, evaluation, CT scan, reading the results, and discharge was maybe 1.5 to 2 hours on a Saturday night. I felt good about the whole process and all people involved.

We recently had an injury while on vacation that required surgery and one nights stay at the hospital. We did have some problems with payment but through the efforts and patience of the administrative staff we got it resolved. The surgeon and surgery team were awesome. The before and after x-rays show a Very Positive result because of the knowledge and dedication of the team. We were treated well by every employee of the hospital. If you require a hospital while in Montego Bay, you won’t go wrong here.

I normally don't write reviews, but I thought it was worth writing one about my appointment with Dr. Casamajor (Neurologist). She has a very kind personality and gave me the feeling to be taken seriously and to be understood. She took time to listen to me and wasn't rushing through the appointment at all. I went to quite a few doctors in my life but she was special because she was so professional but yet so emphatic. I felt relieved after I left her office because I felt like I am in good hands. Thank you!!

I don't ever bother to leave reviews, but I was moved to do so after meeting Petring from Hopiten, Montego Bay. I heard a lot of rave reviews about this location, but sometime last year, I heard it wasn't the same. Apparently, there was a change of hands or some persons resigned or were replaced. Whatever the case, apparently service was not the same. So, with that in mind, I went for my first visit toward the end of 2021. For the most part, the experience was fine, except for two receptionists who chose to argue in front of guests. One of the two receptionists at the desk just seemed to have a bad attitude in general.

I had a subsequent visit recently and witnessed a lot of deficiencies and ridiculousness. The same surly receptionist was, well, still surly. Another receptionist was complaining that she wasn't to be working where she was assigned and didn't want to be there. Another employee thought it was no big deal to relay a vulgar joke in front of a patient. One, apparently in management, thought it was fine to let his friend receive service ahead of those waiting.

This and more would have made for a very unpleasant experience had it not been for the star of my visit, Lab Technician Petring. This young lady understood the meaning of customer service. My day would have been longer and quite stressful had it not been for her patience, intervention, and caring, and proactive approach to service.

That kind of environment can take a toll, so, I hope management will invest in customer service training, hiring more persons so employees aren't so burdened and frustrated, and get the equipment needed. Many employees have to endure low remuneration and lack of recognition from management. Times are difficult, so it is critical to give acknowledgement where it is due. I give Hospiten three stars, really, to be generous and empathetic, and still, there were other employees who displayed excellence in service. I was very impressed with the security guards on both visits. However, the five stars are for Petring. I hope she receives the necessary support so she can continue to be a shining star.

I was admitted to Hospiten in May 2018 with 2 broken vertebrae in my neck after an accident.

Everyone at the hospital were amazing, the doctors, nurses, administration staff, cleaners, cooks, everyone.

I received first class treatment and was very impressed. Right up to the final minute prior to being air lifted home to the UK after four days the service didn’t waver.

In the unlikely event of having an accident whilst on holiday in Jamaica, rest assured this hospital will look after you if needed.

Very good experience. Clean professional atmosphere, with an empathetic staff. The midwives were great! The pediatrician lovely and I love Doctor Wolfe, he made me feel very comfortable having my first child.

I visited Hospiten Montego Bay to get my covid test down for travel. The process was smooth without any delays or extended waiting time. The nurses who assisted were quite hospitable & I received my results ON TIME.

From the time I was admitted, I was treated with respect and received excellent care. Thank you Anna and Dr. James for taking care of me.

Phenomenal care! The entire staff, EVERYONE, including reception, security, nurses, doctors etc. were so helpful and informative. I went in for a minor surgery and everything was explained in details. We drove from Kingston because this hospital offers thorough, detailed, caring, informative results. Thank you ALL!

They treated me very well! There was a doctor who spoke Spanish, i'm not the best speaking English, so it was incredible. I had a purulent tonsillitis IN JAMAICA. The heat and the air conditioning played against me

I have never gone to any hospital or doctor office in Jamaica and recieved such great care. I've gone here twice now and have no complaints. Highly reccomend.

I was staying in negril, and I was 2 days from flying home when I woke up to find I couldn’t walk or talk, so my wife phoned the nurse at the hotel who immediately contacted a doctor who ordered an ambulance and was sent to hospiten where I was admitted and stayed for 15 days, the care I had from all the staff was fantastic I had pneumonia in both lungs and a massive infection, when I was sent to hospiten my wife said the doctor was asked what hospital is he going to a public one or private , the doctor said this man in no way whatsoever is going to a public hospital he won’t be going home alive , which was scary when I found that out a special thanks to dr smith who was excellent as all his team was

I sprained my ankle and had to go emergency to this medical center. The nurse who treated me was very friendly as was the doctor. Thank you very much for saving my holidays in Jamaica, YEAH MON!

I was in Jamaica when the pandemic pretty much started. I had symptoms and was very freaked out. Luckily I went to this hospital got tested and it wasn't Covid19. Very happy with the doctors, they were very kind.

After a horrendous 12 hours & fight with local hospital to get a transfer,
I’d like to give my upmost thanks and gratitude to the whole of hospiten and the way they cared and was so understanding with my Lisa I’m forever grateful

Top class facility. Modern, clean and professional doctors. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They did showed a lot of interest on my case. Definitively i would recommend Hospiten to anybody.

Caring staff, well kept clean environment, thorough with recordkeeping. Great ER doctor and nursing staff. 10x better than our experience at Cornwall
