Panificio Giovanni Volpe

This panificio is amazing, make sure to visit it if you’re in Venice. The food and the service are great and all the pastries and types of bread are delicious. Get a coffee to go nearby, pick up your favourite pastries from this panificio and have it in a bench at the piazza before continuing your walk :)

Lovely little Jewish bakery, one of the last kosher ones apparently. Also selling some groceries. We only tried cookies but everything was excellent - try the sweet fennel seed matzo crackers that look like snowflakes, so delicious and unusual. And the Venetian Pincia (cross between fruit cake and bread pudding) was excellent too. Because it's dairy free it lasts ages too, so great for gifts to take home :-)

Best almond pastry I've ever had (the impane), crunchy and chewy and buttery, so good. The honey strudel was also very nice.

Great bakery, I loved just staring at all the offerings through the window. Friendly service, good price and good baked goods. Focaccia was great.

This is the place to try different and unique bakery flavours. They have Jewish sweets and bakery products which are not easy to find in other places. We visited the bakery twice as we wanted to try as much as possible!

After seeing this place on TV, I wanted to try it for myself. Enjoyed 3 different biscuits, and would definitely recommend a visit.

Delicious kosher pastry with many pareve (dairy free and vegetarian) options in the Jewish quartier. No sitting space, but tasty and affordable treats

We had 2 different dairy free croissants, with chocolate and pistachio paste. Both were excellent however the pure pistachio paste brought tears in our eyes.
The onion Focaccia is a real delight with an ultra soft dough that has risen for a very long time.
The bread pudding was surprisingly tasty, with a perfect soft texture full of raisins.

Not all reviews are created the same. I'm sure others have reasons for their points of view. But we had nothing short of a great experience with this bakery. The pastries were amazing and the service was spectacular. I'd go back on a heartbeat and would be happy to recommend it to anybody.

Excellent bakery, great selection and friendly service. The croissants were particularly good.

Tried 4 dairy free (Parve) pastries and they were all devine. Their Focaccia is probably the best you'll have in your whole life.

One of Venice's best kept secrets. We always stop here when in Venice. The bread and pastries, especially the challah, is fabulous. Try the azime Dolce. They're the star shaped anise cookies. A classic Venetian recipe. Be respectful. Like many old shops in Venice its very small and if you barrel in and aren't patient you're likely to get treated rudely. As you should.

Yes, I fell in love with Volpe's unleavened bread, white and wholemeal. Every time I go to Venice, I go to the "Ghetto" to buy them.
Also the various type of biscuits are very good.
Lately I tried the "crostoli" (also called "galani", a typical carnival cake, usually fried in oil). I found them in the right consistency of those "pulled" by hand, and that is they are thick, not thin like a veil! Well, very well!
The store is a stone's throw from the "Guglie bridge" in Canareggio, not far from the railway station. It's small with modern but dated forniture.

Amazing kosher bakery in the old Jewish quarter of Venice. Everything was delicious but my favourites were impade and bisse. It was also quite cheap :)
