Awesome little beach! Even though some of the pictures show the seastacks they are on the other side of the beach and you have to drive to get to them. This beach was quiet and small but so beautiful and peaceful. Not a lot of parking but plenty of diners and shops around. This is a good halfway point of traveling across the country.

Beautiful beach. The day we went it was empty, looks like not too many people goes or know the spot.

Very neat beach! We went in the winter time so we didn't get to go into the ocean, but it was really neat to see it in general. It's unique and beautiful, and it's free to enter. Definitely recommend checking out this unique beach! In the winter, it can get extremely windy and cold though, so bring warm clothes!

Víkurfjara, known for its black sand beach and stunning views of the Reynisdrangar sea stacks, is a must-visit. The beach's black sand forms from volcanic rocks and minerals, a common feature along Iceland's south coast. The powerful Atlantic waves and dramatic cliffs offer a mesmerizing sight, making Víkurfjara a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Caution is advised, however, as the waves can be dangerously strong.

These black sand beaches are huge and stunning! The white breakers hitting the black sand is striking to see. "Sand" is a loose term as this beach is also a lot of weathered stones, but I didn't come here for swimming and sunbathing. I came for the wind, the views, the connection to nature - and wasn't disappointed!

Very cool black sand beach in Vic. Small free parking near beach. No facilities, no food. Went at end of April so it was cold, but not busy.

Truly a gem in comparison to other crowded beach..we love it😍 great views, stunning and quite. You need a short walk 5-10 min depending on where you parked - there is no real parking, you park alongside the road. . Sunset time was nice but better to visit in the morning, then you see the cliffs clearer.
Be prepared to got much black sand into any type of shoes. Can be really windy.

A beach like no other, full of suspense and curiosity, and known for Eastwatch by the sea from GoT. The beach has amazing view. It has crazy wind and gigantic waves. Wind blows volcanic sand right into your face, it hurts. But the cave, the popular bezel columns are spectacular to witness. It’s an incredible experience to be on this beach.

There are parking lot, restaurant with restrooms at this site. Parking lot has a small fee.

Amazing! The waves look cool over the black sand. The mossy moutains are just off to the side and the dramatic rock feature in the water is all so captivating! Highly recommend stopping here!

Not as spectacular as Reynisfjara, but you still feel the full force of the wind and sea. Easily accessible from the small mall in Vik where you can park for free. It’s a great leg stretch and comfort break travelling on route 1.

I was surprised to find this popular tourist attraction as I only visited the restaurant for breakfast early on a Saturday morning

Walking back to the parking located near the entrance to the beach I noticed numerous tourists coming and going to see the black beach.

Luckily I had the time to go and explore the surrounding area and took many photos of the majestic coastal landscape

Since I did arrive early, I had no issues with the beach being too crowded and just remember to stay warm

A beautiful and much less visited black sand beach right in Vik. It has beautiful rock formations and black sand, and a huge colony of puffins. While the more famous black sand beach has the basalt columns, this one lacks any of the tourists or tour buses, which made it our favourite beach in the area. It was so quiet and beautiful. Definitely worth visiting - especially if you enjoy solitude with your beach walks and puffin viewings. We also saw seals swimming off the shore here in the first night.

I don't know why this place was so empty and like 4 people came to see it. It is as awesome as the Reynisfjara beach next to it. It is at about a 5 minutes drive and parking is free. If you want something quieter, come here instead, pictures will be better.

Black Sand Beach is beautiful and impressive. Sand that is actually volcanic, never seen something like that before. In this place some scenes of Game of Thrones and Vikings were film, so my husband and I are fans and we're really excited. Great place to take pictures, absolutely stunning. Be ware of the waves, in bad weather they are really dangerous.

Had an unscheduled visit to this beach as our tour bus broke down at the Vik service station. The black sand was very cool to see.

Great beach in the south of Iceland. Raw and beautiful at the same time.

The Black Sand Beach in Vik is a powerful place. The blackness of the sand, the big amazing rocks and the rough sea make the place definitely worth a visit. Do respect the traffic light system on the beach and for goodness do not go into the water - the waves and the current are really dangerous.

A café serves visitors by the beach daytime. There's also a toilet, but you need to pay a small fee if you're not a customer at the café.

Iceland is a great place to visit we stayed in Reykjavik but should have stayed more to the south. Reason being we hired a 4x4 and most of our locations to visit were south. To keep costs down on our trip we bought food at an Iceland shop and cooked in the apartment.

It is a beautiful serene beach, on the day I went waves were strong.
I went in November so not much Tourist and a store (Icelandic wear) there with a cafe as well.

I went to Reynisfjara in mid-February, I had a great day because the sky was pretty clear for the Icelandic standard. The contrast between the black sand and the sky was amazing, the powerful waves and the scenario were breathtaking. Absolutely one of the best dramatic spots in Iceland.
