The Old Post Office Guesthouse

Very friendly staff, tidy and comfortable rooms. A kitchen with everything you'd need is downstairs. I had a room with mountain view, just stunning.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the facilities were very nice. The check-in process with the phone had a bit of novelty. Walking distance to everything you need in town and wonderful views!

Great location. Small rooms but very comfortable and clean. We'll equipped kitchen downstairs if you want to buy food at the nearby market and prepare your own meals but many good restaurants in walking distance

The check in was painless - the key and a note were waiting for us at the front desk when we arrived. The room itself was clean and with a private bathroom. This was especially great after sharing bathrooms for several days on the ring road. They also have a really well stocked kitchen downstairs. We also got a nice view out of the window. If you drive a few minutes, you will also be able to take a photo of the famous Kirkjufell mountain.

Stayed here 3 nights and check in and check out were simple and easy. Rooms were small, but were clean and comfortable with a TV and bathroom. The kitchen was fine and everyone cleaned up after themselves. Nice jumping off point to explore the peninsula!

I stayed here in October of 2018. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were clean and organized. The surrounding area is very beautiful. Also, as a side note, I accidentally left behind my gold necklace which was quite valuable. I contacted the staff after I had left and they confirmed that it was found in the room. They then took the time to mail the necklace all the way back to the States for me. They even wrote me a nice note to go with it. If you get a chance, I would highly recommend this establishment, if not just for the simple reason that they have honest and good staff members / ownership which can be hard to find these days. The room was very small. Cooking is sharing, view was fantastic as we are seeing the kirkujell Foss from the room.

Small but cozy room. High quality down comforter and cotton duvet cover. Comfort mattress too. Can see church mountain from my window. Love this place!

Good place to stay and worth the money

Good - Location- mountain and sea view room provide great views, staffs are very helpful, room is well heated. Car park is near and sufficient.

Can improve - Microwave oven takes so long time in heating food. It might has too low power. No hair dryer provided. Pillow is too thin but I wasn’t thinking of requesting for more pillows.

We had an AMAZING stay at this establishment. The hosts were not there when we arrived, but came as soon as we let them know we had arrived (3 minutes!). They shared wonderful information about the area, and helped us plan an excursion with their knowledge. Our room was clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen was fabulous, as we tend to be on a wacky schedule while we travel. The proximity to the Snaefellesnes Park is excellent, and we had a fabulous view of Kirkjufell from our room. I wish we had been able to stay longer - it was great!

Cozy, warm and comfortable hotel in quaint Grundarfjordur. We had the room with the a twin and single bed and a attached bathroom. Beds were very comfortable and room was clean. Hotel is literally across from Kirkjufell Mountain and a small, rocky beach. The only issue we had was that the walls are thin and you can hear everybody outside. A shared kitchen and dining room is available.

Nicer inside than from the outside. Rooms were clean and have their own sink. :) Big Kitchen to use and also a place to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. Spent a nice evening with other travellers. Girl from reception gave good Tips for the next day.

We had a lovely stay with a glorious view of Kirkjufell from our room. The guesthouse was very clean, and comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked. The icing on the cake, for us, was our host’s hospitality. She gave us great recommendations and introduced us to the amazing Beer Tölt, which we were thrilled to capture for our YouTube Channel, Eventful Globe.

We stayed here to escape the rain and absolutely LOVED this place. It's clean, quiet, and has a full kitchen and bathroom. The owners were very nice and directed us to some good places to eat. My wife and I would definitely stay here again given the chance.
