No wonder it's the most photographed mountain 🏔 in Iceland. Part of snæfellsnes peninsula trip. Travelled with BusTravel Iceland on what turned out to be the trip on the harshest of weather.

Kirkjufell was our stop after lunch and the storm had calmed down. The view is exceptional from the distance and almost gives the vibes of Zermatt in Switzerland and reminds you of Toblerone.

Do take a moment to enjoy the view.

It's the most visited mountain of Iceland and does not disappoint. The particular view of the mountain and the waterfall together is amazing and has become a signature shot of Iceland. The waterfalls are not very voluminous and it's easy to walk to them and take pictures. One of the most beautiful sights as part of the Snaefellsness peninsula trip. Will surely recommend going there.

Kirkjufell, the most photographed mountain in Iceland, is also known as the “Arrow Head Mountain” from Game of Thrones. Its layers are the result of millions of years of volcanic eruptions and glacial erosion.

Unique shape mountain on the North coast of Iceland on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula that is a very picturesque stop and well worth the drive. There is a small fee for parking and a short walk to capture the waterfall with the mountain in the background. There are no washrooms in this parking lot. If you are able to include this in your travels you will be happy that you did.

Being unfamiliar with Iceland, I didn't realize that this was Kirkjufell until we got closer and at a different angle. It become apparent in the bus pull off.

Nearby there were trails leading off into the foothills for a ravine and waterfalls. There were also trails leading up into Kirkjufell itself. I suspect hiking boots would have bene in order.

Even closer, some Icelandic horses were feeding by the fence and they seemed to prefer grass handed to them from this side of the fence rather than the grass they had on their side of the fence.

Very pretty surroundings.

This mountain is as epic as it can be seen as one of the famous Microsoft Windows Lock Screen images. There is something about the symmetry of this mountain which makes you stare at it for as long as one can. It is right off one of the main roads with a private parking lot where you need to pay for parking. Definitely recommend visiting it. Be ware of the strong winds in this part of Iceland, it could tear out your car door if not opened properly.

Mystical cone rising straight out of the sea. The mountain is usually visited and seen only from Kirkjufjellsfoss (the waterfall); the famous perspective. This is a pity, because: the mountain is magnificent from any perspective and in (almost) any weather. It can be climbed and walked around.

A majestic mountain which is referred to as the arrow head mountain in the game of thrones. Although it is seen as an arrow head only in one angle which is from the kirkjufellfoss area. The view from the waterfall is really amazing. And you can take some breathtaking photos from the waterfall including both the waterfall and the mountain in the picture. I've heard that this mountain can be climbed. But we did not try out as it was raining and we did not have time. Would have been a nice activity for a warm summer day.

A really photogenic place. We visited at the end of june, it was not so crowded. It has a big parking place, I imagine in the summer it's full of visitors.

Gotta pay for parking in the car park - they photograph your number plate so just know it isn’t optional.

Iceland has many waterfalls and they’re always great to see. This one is a waterfall with great views of the mountain behind it. So definitely time your visit with a good position of the sun for great photos. Waterfall was almost completely frozen even in March! Nevertheless, great to see! One of the most photographed mountains in Iceland!

Incredibly beautiful mountain. Wanted to climb, but in the spot it came out you need hiking equipment.

Incredibly beautiful! Tip: You can hike all the way around the mountain - just go to the very edge on the eastern side, stay on the outside of the farmer’s fence, and follow it all the way around the mountain. You’ll have to step onto the beach on and off for the first kilometre or so, but after that the path becomes clear in the grass. It’s around 5.8km circumference total and there are a lot of horses, sheep, and little creeks! Stunning.

Our last stop in our day trip from Reykjavík to Kirkjufell. There was a lot of people but the place itself is nice for pictures.

Game Of Thrones Locations in Iceland !

....view from the town of Grundarfjörður. Its founders and settlers are French merchants - the town has a beautiful and unique atmosphere!

Kirkjufell is on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula and not far from the town Grundarfjörður. It is the most photograped mountain in Iceland.

It can be seen in season 7 episode 6 when the heroes go to north of the wall, described as the "Arrowhead mountain". It also appeared in season 6 episode 5 with Kirkjufellsfoss which is also on the photo, when the children of the forest created the first White Walker.

The mountain is not high, it is only 463 meters high, but still climbing it takes about an hour and a half one way, it is demanding and for inexperienced hikers it may prove fatal.

Mount Kirkjufell as seen from Grundarfjörður on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

From one point, the mountain is triangular in shape, but when viewed from the nearby town of Grundarfjörður, it is wider, more trapezoidal in shape.

You can see the mountain in beautiful circumstances, when in summer it is reflected in the calm sea surrounding it, or in winter when it is covered with ice, or during sunset, when the rays are reflected in the calm water.

The most popular photo spot is the nearby waterfall on the other side of the road. The waterfall is the perfect foreground with Kirkjufell appearing in the background.

Very stunning with the waterfalls in the front and the Kirkjufell in the background. Parking available and the charges are 350 isk for 30mins i think cause i had to pay 700 isk for 31 mins of parking which you can pay just before leaving. There are cameras that captured your plate numbers therefore no escape. From carpark you can walk down towards the waterfalls and is an easy and well maintained path.

Iconic spot for midnight sun shots of mountain and waterfall; lots of nature paparazzi. We saw an Arctic Fox while driving there.

The ever so popular Arrow Mountain as the Hound very rightly put it in the penultimate season of Game of Thrones. It is a surreal feeling to be there, maybe it would go unnocited if not for the GoT scene, but when I went there in September 2022, there was a paid parking for a waterfall which by Icelandic standards is just alright but not more than that. But it's appeal is something else when seen along with Kirkjufell at the background. It was too late for me by the time I realized it was a paid parking. They got cameras, the last thing u want in Iceland is a fine. So had to get along with it. But the mountain is surely a must stop by attraction.

Really got to luck out with the weather. We had a terrible weather day and the mountain was in and out of view. We found a clear 15min break and got some decent distant shots. We did not park and go to hike the area. A beautiful mountain nonetheless.

My favorite mountain! It may be a drive, but the town is lovely. Spend time enjoying the mountains, the ocean, and the waterfalls. The energy here is beautiful. Please be careful parking around the waterfall and/or the mountain. There are often people on foot, having parked far away, and during the winter, conditions can vary.

Such a beautiful scenery. Whent to this location on a tour I took while in Iceland. I didn't watch GOT but my husband did, I facetimed him while I was there and he loved it. It was a perfet day with awsome weather so we were able to enjoy the walk down to the stream. Just beautiful!
