Must stop and visit. The theater has a wonderful photographic history of the people and town. The latte and hot chocolate was as warming as the resident historian - ask about her special hiking trail.

What a lovely little book store/cafe/museum/theater? Seriously, this was a cozy place, friendly staff, and fantastic soup.

The Emil cafe is very friendly. It has great (but limited) lunch menu and sweets (the apple cake with cream on the side was perfect). Next door (in the same entrance ) is a tourist information center that has a friendly staff and good information on nearby hiking trails.

Emil Café is super sweet with a great selection of food (had a delicious spicy curry soup and a gluten-free chocolate cake)! They even host a tiny museum about Icelandic fishing and antique toys. Oh, and there's also a library.

Dropped in on the Saga Centre over lunch - a great place to read a book while enjoying a coffee from Kaffi Emil inside. If you're after something a bit more filling, the Icelandic meat soup comes highly recommended!

They also provide tourist info, free wifi/internet and a small library. The museum of fishing history is very small, but still interesting and also free.

Had a great conversation with one of the clerks at the coffee counter which taught me a lot about the town, the region and Iceland as a whole. There is a slide show running in the back which was put together by a resident which I recommend seeing. While the slides contained some English spelling errors (Vs and Ws reversed, endearingly; lots of talk about the Willage), I could hardly fault it for that. What I saw in it was the story of a plucky little community's struggle to grow, make a living in the far cold north, adjust to changing times, care for its people, weather the financial collapse, resist population outflow and be the best that it can be. I really admire them for it, they've triumphed in making this little town a good thing and it is full of life.

Very useful toilet stop before visiting Kirkjufell waterfall after a long drive on gravel roads from the north! There is a mobile van selling fish & chips at the parking.
