We had an issue with our campervan and couldn't find anyone to help and patchy signal on our phones. The man in this visitor centre was the friendliest and most helpful person we met in Iceland. We are very grateful for his help. Definitely pop in to this small and friendly information centre

A cute and helpful center. It’s definitely worth stopping in to go over your plans. They knew the place to go for puffins!

We were worried about going on Thakgill road and we're glad we stopped here! A nice women welcomed us and cherred us up to go despite the difficult road! She also gave us great information on different hikes we could do over all south of Iceland and near the area. Thanks to her we had a wonderfull experience with spectacular views. Do not hesitate to stop here on your trip to Vik!

I was welcomed by great excitement by a lady originally from Barcelona that gave us great advice and suggestions on where and when to go. True passion to give us the best experience as possible, and very friendly! The exhibition is not big, but very informative and gives a good understanding on why the landscape is as it is.

Great experience in this shop! The shopkeeper, Holly, was so knowledgeable and just bursting with excitement to help us plan a fun and safe trip! Her local knowledge and amicability were inspiring!
The shop itself is not for profit and has a free exhibit and sells all Icelandic gifts.

We had the pleasure of being received by Gudrun, who not only is super knowledgeable about the surroundings and gave us amazing tips, she is also one of the funniest person I've met on the trip. When asking her if the puffins would be there, she said it might be early in the season, but offered to call her puffin friend ( you read that right ). And I'm sure she did.
All in all, go there to have a good time and good information :)

What a great info center! In times where everyone seems to get the same secret tips on the same trending blogs online, we were recommended a wonderful hiking route off the beaten path and a few hints how to evade the masses of camper van tourists during peak season. One of the most valuable advices during our journey.

A surprise stop for us as our navigation system led us here when we only typed Vik in. It's worth exploring the free exhibit about volcanos and the Katla National Park. Very interesting! There's also a cafe and souvenir shop.

Great information and a very friendly, knowledgeable host who helped us quite a bit with not just what Vík has to offer but other places in Iceland as well. Free map of Vík available inside.

A Katla Geopark egyik látogatóközpontja, mely Vík központjában található. Májustól szeptemberig minden nap nyitva tart, de igény szerint télen is látogatható. Helyileg Vík legrégebbi épületében, a Brydebúðban működik.
A kiállítások mellett helyi túrákat is szerveznek a turisták részére Vík nevezetességeinek megtekintésére.
A Katla egy vulkán Víktől északra, magassága 1512 m, a Mýrdalsjökull gleccser borítja, utoljára 1918-ban tört ki. 1999 óta a vulkán környékén aktivitás tapasztalható, és a geológusok attól tartanak, hogy a közeljövőben ismét kitörhet.
A Katla Geopark 9452 km2, területén 2700 ember él. 2011-ben nyert felvételt a Geoparkok Globális Hálózatába (Global Geoparks Network). Fő célkitűzése a természeti környezet védelme, a helyi fenntartható fejlődés segítése, a természeti turizmus támogatása.
