Northern Lights Car Rental

Travel to Iceland was my best choice in my life. Iceland is the most beautiful country, what I have ever seen. There are great people, who help each other. I travelled about 1800km in Iceland and I discovered many beautiful places. In fact, this country appealed to me so much that I would prefer to move there.
The northern lights car rental is great. Everyone was helpful and nice. I even got a better car than I ordered. Thank you for my best holiday in my life. And see you soon :-)

We rented a car with carwiz and we were took to this office to rent it. We were given a Dacia Duster 4x4 with winter wheels that resulted a good solution to drive on the snowy and icy winter icelandic roads. The personal was very kind (but pay attention, you should have a crédit card at your name if you want to rent with the basic plan). If I come back to Iceland (and I will) I will take this place into account to rent again

We were met promptly after we got off our flight and within 5 minutes we were on the road being taken to the car rental offices. It was all really quick and easy and everyone was very friendly. The car itself was nice and clean and we had no issues with it at all over the hundreds of miles that it was driven during our stay. On our final evening we were notified at around 11pm that our flight the next day was delayed. We called NL and we advised them of this and they allowed us to return the car 4 hours later than agreed, for no extra cost. Again, on returning the car everyone was nice and friendly and it was all dealt with quickly and efficiently and we were taken back to the airport very soon after returning the car. I would highly recommend NL to anyone looking to hire a car in Iceland!

Excellent service here and very competitive vehicle hire prices. No desk at the airport, but after calling their office only had to wait about 10 mins to be picked up and taken the 5-10 mins drive to their office. Did a 9 day car in Sept 23. Glad I chose Northern Lights.

I recently rented a car from the Northern Lights Car Rental and was such a great experience! I got a hybrid car with a rooftop tent and was perfect for traveling and camping around Iceland. The tent is so easy for set up, only take about 30 seconds and then you are ready to go to bed if you like. Perfect way to travel Iceland!!

Great car, don't know if we had luck or what but had a great time, working at a rental car where I live, I could say that the experience was good, even though we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get collected at the time of arrival, beside that everything perfect. I was surprised to hear that tyres and alloy wheels are not covered by full cover but that's okay, didn't have any problem luckyly. Car had AWD, 4 season tyres and spare wheel, warming seats (front & back) and it's really comfortable and spacious (4 pax). The guy at the desk explained everything well and return was easy and quick (5h30 am). Glad I choose you instead of my rental company which didn't even give me a discount to rent in Iceland lol

Had an amazing experience with the rented car and also interacting with the team at Northern Lights car rental. We arrived to Iceland a little earlier than the time we were expecting to on the day of the pick up. Rental agency was really kind enough to allow us the early pick up at no additional costs. Felt positive interacting with the guy there. Car was in great condition despite having a 300000 plus mileage on it. It was a camper car with a rooftop tent. Tent was very cozy, comfortable, warm and spacious enough for the two of us. Overall had an amazing experience and highly recommend renting with this fun bunch.

Very nice and helpful people working there. Especially the night shift. No Problem to arrive very late. Everything went smooth and easy and the car was great for my trip and my needs. Also the free Shuttle to the airport was practical. Thanks.

We rented the car (Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross) for a week and put a lot of miles on it, driving around 5hrs per day on average. We spent so much time in that car and it got us to every place on our very full itinerary. We'd done our research into renting a car in Iceland before we booked and that made everything really easy: obviously get the insurance through Northern Lights directly, make sure to get a 4x4 or AWD (since it was November).

Northern Lights was super efficient and good to deal with. Everyone we interacted with was really friendly. The van pickup at the airport from them was especially useful - just need to find the person holding the board with the Northern Lights logo by the info desk.

Definitely recommend.

2015 Suzuki Jimny was magnificent on F-roads, not so great on paved roads, but that's the price to pay if you want to see untouched nature. The cheapest 4x4 you can find. Suspension is a bit stiff, so you'll feel every damn rock. Between 75-80 km/h the steering wheel wiggles as this is a manufacture issue as I was later told. Engine wasn't so powerful when driving into steep hills.
Iceland was a great experience in this car, thank you for that.

A few minutes by van (complimentary ride) you reach the office at KEF airport where we even got an upgraded car from the friendly person. Unproblematic and quick handling. Reliable car; 4 wheel drive was clearly beneficial in the 🇮🇸 winter.

the car was good and safe, price was great and the staff was very nice and helpful. they explained everything about the insurance and gave us some tips for our trip. i would totally recommend!

The staff at Northern Lights, from booking to drop off at the airport, were fantastic. They accommodated my shifting itinerary quickly and graciously, and I really appreciated that.
The rental itself was exactly what I needed, with one caveat that was easy to overcome. I'm already missing my little Duster, which was super reliable and delivered much better fuel efficiency than I expected. There was no point in my trip where I was worried about being stuck or getting stranded; the 4wd worked like a charm, and I really only needed to use it twice because the Duster was a hard charger and the tires were pretty aggressive.
Everything about the rental experience was easy and painless, so thank you.
The only issue I had with the car was a broken USB port, since I didn't have a lot of access to electricity, but that was an easy fix with an adapter.
The problems with the vehicle were small, and once I got them figured out didn't impact safety or enjoyability.
At the end of the day, when I come back to Iceland, I'll rent through Northern Lights again, because the customer service was fantastic and the car took me to some amazing places.
The kitchen box served its purpose and had everything in it you'd need, from fuel to dish soap.
Transfer from the airport was easy, and the staff occupied the short drive with interesting conversation.
Go to Iceland, rent Northern Lights, and enjoy the wonderful country without worry.

Our experience with this company has been more than perfect. The car was ideal for the special climatic conditions of the country and the roads. They also did us a huge favor by bringing us our house keys (which we forgot in the car) a few minutes before our late night flight.

My friend and I drove our car around the entire ring road and had the most amazing trip! We were hesitant initially to do the driving ourselves in winter, but the four wheel drive and snow tires were excellent on the snowy roads. The rental process was simple and they provided a ride to and from the airport for us. I will definitely use this company again if I am back in Iceland!

I had a 4x4 Suzuki Jimmy with roof tent. The Car was absolutely excellent on the F-roads and off-road.
People from NLCR very helpful, nice and ... trustworthy. I got some extra explanation about driving the car on F-Roads, through rivers and so.
The added "extras" as kitchen kit, table, and so, was very useful. I even got a thermos. :)

Easy pick-up and drop-off at the airport. Even though they do not have an office at the Keflavik Airport, a representative from the Northern Lights company will pick you up with a small van and drive you to the their site. Car in good conditions, procedures easy and the price very convenient.

Our experience with Northern Lights Car Rental was great.
We rented a small car and it was in very good conditions. The staff was very kind, professional and helpful in every moment of the rental. Should we come back to Iceland, we will surely contact them again to rent a car!

Good service oriented rental company. Friendly staff and efficient. We went for the Jimny Experience :victory: and had a lot of fun! Reporting a broken tyre beyond fixing on the second day, resulted in receiving a replacement car which lasted the rest of the vacation. Returning the loyal Jimny was very uncomplicated and included a free ride to our (nearby) last stay. Thanks!
