Today I was lucky enough to go on an ice cave tour. Our guide Martin was fantastic! He kept us safe, calm and even had time to crack a few jokes. The rest of the team and the organisation was flawless. I felt safe during a challenging hike, the tourguides and support vehicle organisation were always there just in case. If you're looking for an ice cave tour I highly recommend this company.

Had the most amazing experience visiting the ice caves with Katlatrack. The whole experience from start to finish was interesting and breath-taking. The drive there showed amazing views of the landscape and learnt about some of Iceland's history and the glaciers.
This was followed by a quick hike to the glacier. Our guide, Marcin/Martin was friendly and very knowledgeable. They helped make sure it was a trip to remember. Would 100% recommend Katlatrack for an ice cave tour.

Another reason I came to Iceland! Off roading to a whole new degree…you may not know how much I enjoy my 4Runner but the FrankenBenz was a great Icelandic upgrade. 35 minutes traversing across snow covered lava fields to get to the base of the Kötlujökull glacier where then suited up with helmet and crampons made the ascent to the top to see the entrance to Katla Ice Cave. Extremely glad I was able to see its stunning layers of ice and ash that gave a marbled appearance as they are expecting it to come down due to natural erosion from water below and the air running through it around May of this year. Pictures do not do it justice by any means.

A unique experience, even in the summer! Took an ice cave tour and while the ice cave itself was very small, the tour also allowed us to walk around the glacier, which was super cool and an otherworldly landscape. Enjoyed it a lot!

By far the best experience we had in Iceland. Our tour guide was well entertaining but you could see safety was always first. It was sad to see how quickly the glaciers are melting due to how we treat our Earth. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Vik.

You should book with local tour as it's impossible to go on your own. There are couple of professional guides go along and gears provided. You shall take their vehicle that takes ard 30 mins and walk another 30 mins to the cave. Have enough time to take photos and videos along the way and cave. Do remember to bring some snacks with you in case you might hungry as whole tour takes 3 hours .

It was rained and foggy this noon. Visibility was low, but the view along the Katla ice cave is marvellous. It might be a lifetime experience for some of us to hike inside the ice cave. The ice is melting fast. It might disappear or unsafe to hike in the near future if global warming issues are not resolved promptly.
Our guide Marlia is a jovial young lady. She is cheerful, caring, and professional. She put safety as a top priority and assigned one of our group members to walk behind and ensure that no one fell behind. We are required to wear the crampon in the correct way and advise to stomp while hiking toward Katla cave for our safety. She was holding my cousin hand to walk across all the wooden bridges when she saw her trembling crossing the bridges.

PS: it is important to wear a waterproof jacket and pants.

Costs a pretty penny but probably worth it for quite a unique experience. The caves are constantly changing as the glacier melts so they're always unique. Wouldn't recommend trying this without a guide as it would seem a fair bit of know how is involved. We visited at the start of November and as long as you wrap up well it shouldn't be too cold.

Expensive, but totally worth it.

Guides are knowledgeable and experienced.

This place can be visited only with proper guidance, else it can be dangerous.

Amidst the blizzard's icy gusts and howls,
We journeyed towards Katla's frozen lair.
Our jeep, with tires spinning, never fouls,
As we approached the cave with eager stare.

The wind whipped through our hair, our hearts ablaze,
For what lay waiting in the depths below?
A frozen wonderland, a chill-filled maze,
Of sparkling ice and shadows' eerie glow.

The Katla cave, a sight to behold,
With frozen stalactites and stalagmites,
Its secrets waiting to be bought and sold,
To those brave enough to brave its icy heights.

Despite the weather's fierce and wild attack,
We ventured forth into the cave's embrace,
And as we explored, we could not turn back,
For the thrill of adventure filled our space.

So if you seek an adventure to behold,
And wish to brave the blizzard's icy hold,
Then venture forth to Katla's frozen cave,
And let its icy wonder be your slave.

The tour guide made the experience all the more exciting, the cave itself felt unreal to be in, and at no given point did I feel like there was a breach of security.
