Grótta Northern Lights Apartment & Rooms

After our week-long trip to the north and east, we needed a "landing" place closer to Reykjavik before our final day. This property is in the residential suburbs of Reykjavik, not far from the Grotta Lighthouse.
Check-in process was simple with a digital lock on the door. We had a room for 3 people and a bathroom which we shared with guests in another room (though we never saw them).
A small kitchen was available for us to re-heat our takeaways from the previous night and there's complimentary coffee.
In the morning, we did a short walk to the lighthouse for sunrise pictures. No northern lights during the night though, can't be lucky every night.

Self check in was super easy and much appreciated after the flight to Iceland! Nice and cozy place not to far from the main attractions in Reykjavik. The shared kitchen and bathrooms were never an issue and even allowed us to meet some pretty dope people! Will definitely go back.

Although I couldn't figure out how to make the TV work the view was better than TV anyway!!! Beds are super comfortable. Plenty of room. Close to everything. I would stay here again in a heart beat!

We stayed in a quiet family area and we had the chance to even see the northern lights from the garden! The house itself is nice but be aware kitchen and bathroom is shared. Overall was good!

Perfect place to stay in raykjavik. So clean, confortable and warm. Good breakfast and nice people. Definitely I'll back to Iceland and sleep there! Thanks Andrea 🌟

The pillows on the bed were a bit weird and it was a bummer we had to share the bathroom with another guest, as we were all getting ready for the day at the same time.

Great location, only a short drive from Reykjavik . The property needs a little TLC but no real complaints

Solid service and nice rooms. We even got to see the aurora right in front of the appartment on a clear night!

The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is for the sad state the bathroom was kept in. There was heavy mold in the shower and on the walls. The fan also had such a thick layer of petrified gunk that it looked like it wasn't ever cleaned.

you probably cannot get better service in iceland as from the team of grotta nothern lights. we enjoyed our stay very much and could see our first aurora right outside in the garden. the location is impressive. highly recommend to walk just randomly outside the neighbourhood and be amazed by the modern houses. take a stroll around the lighthouse and the hotspring in front at the house.

Niska cena, więc nie można wymagać luksusów. W pokojach trochę zimno, wstawiony kaloryfer do podgrzewania. Kuchnia dobrze wyposażona, ekspres do kawy, herbata oraz jedzenie zbywające innym turystom do dyspozycji. Miejsce dobre do oglądania zorzy polarnej. Miła obsługa. Warte polecenia dla niskobudżetowych turystów.

Heerlijk plekje om na de vlucht bij te komen. Kamers zijn basic maar netjes. Mocht je willen ontbijten kun je naar het blue house.
De app van northern lights is aan te raden ( QR code hangt op de kamer), daarmee wordt je ingelicht als iemand het ziet. Wij hadden de 1e dag noorderlicht bij de vuurtoren, niet te zien vanuit de kamer, maar door de app ingelicht dat het daar was.

Ruhige Wohngegend, weit von der Innenstadt entfernt, Auto notwendig, kostenlose Parkplätze vor der Tür.
Sehr sauberes, etwas in die Jahre gekommenes mit kl. Details dekoriertes 2-Zi-App mit eig. Bad, gr. Esstisch, eig. Terrasse mit Picknickbank und kleiner Küche, die für alle zugänglich, allerdings zu Coronazeiten nur von einer Person nutzbar ist, da an Herd/Spüle sehr beengt. Praktisch die Box in der Küche ( falls man die letzte oder erste Nacht vor/ nach Rück/Anreise bucht), um Lebensmittel zu verschenken/ aufzustocken.

Close to Grotta light house, which is a bonus if you are there for the Northern Lights.
Unfortunately, there are more cons than pros at these apartments.
The whole place is in need of at least a lick of paint, and tightening of a few bolts.
One bathroom for two apartments is not enough, especially, when the shower is joined with the WC.
The kitchen was small and there were not enough bigger pots. The kitchen was used by three apartments. The dining area is enough for 4 people max.
The electricity was going out when one hob, oven and the kettle were turned on.
We've noticed that not many people use curtains in Iceland.
I think they should be there and the choice to keep them open or leave them closed should be given to customers. Just the blinds is not enough for us.

Description is a bit misleading a 20ish steady walk to the lighthouse is the best spot to see the northern lights, the position of the b&b is on a very well lit road front and back not much can be seen from there

Cóż, na zdjęciach wygląda to lepiej. Realnie niski standard, dość brudno.
Wykupione śniadanie proponowane przez obiekt to wysuszony chleb, kilka plasterków wędliny i sera, dżem i sładniki do zrobienia owsianki. I uwaga wszystko pochowane w lodówce, szafkach. Załoga siedząc na hokerach pokazuje tylko, gdzie co jest, a ty samemu przygotowujesz sobie śniadanie, łącznie z parzeniem kawy.
Może to jakaś dodatkowa atrakcja?
Jestem skonfundowana pobytem i poziomem usługi, brudem i brakiem ogarnięcia personelu. Dobrze, że to już za mną.
