Holy Bethlehem Church

It is the most beautiful church in isfahan, it has very beautiful wall paintings in 2 different style from different era.

The church is quiet and relaxing. You'll find seats in the church to sit down and pray. The paintings are fantastic works of art.

A church you can sit for long time to appreciate the art, the history and the atmosphere. There are only 2 churches open in this area. This one is open, and the Vank is open, the other one - St Mary is closed.

You must go there and see paintings on the wall too.

کلیسای بیت اللحم از بزرگترین کلیساهای اصفهان است و از نظر نقاشی جزو ۲۳ کلیسای زیبای جهان می باشد که در دوره صفوی توسط خواجه پطرس ساخته شده است.
On the southern portal there is an inscription as follows:

Pray for Khaje Petros, who was a good man, in the presence of God. He built this church by his own personal expenditure for the immortality of his name and his father's name (Vali Jan) and his mother's name (Shoushan) and his family's name in 1077 (in the Armenian calendar which is 1627 in the Gregorian calendar).

20220210 There are a couple of details about this place.

To be able to get in here, you have to ask help from Vank church official staff, since the place is closed for public visits. Plus, there is another way to get in here, which is, to go to Seth Yessian hostel and ask for help from Mr. Zavik, who can provide and fix some visit time, since he is a resident of this church (the only resident family of this church).

To be able to get in here, you need to fetch tickets, in two ways, to pay upfront in Vank church, or to use a debit card on a pos machine which is located at the entrance of this church.

Believe me, this church is magnificent, and apart from its religious value, the paintings are awesome and the place has spectacular architecture, especially the indoor part.

The indoor of this church sometimes have long usual tables of the church, or sometimes empty which makes it doable for photography without going around and between the tables.

One of the churches in Isfahan which I enjoyed visiting

A beautiful church that you must see. I advise you to read about it before visiting this building. The remarkable thing in this church is the paintings and decorations of this building. There are other beautiful churches in this area and around this church.

The church of Bethlehem is situated in Julfa district of Isfahan. Its interior is very amazing. You can see frescoes depicting Armenian martyrs, the Heaven and Hell, Gregory the Illuminator . For me this church is much prettier than Vank.

This church is as nice as the Vank church

It isa small but the most intact church in Isfahan built by Khadje Petros. You can find all decorations intact from Safavid dynasty.

Beautiful, a combination of catholic, Armenian and Muslim influences under one roof ( paintings, gildings and tiling). Dont miss the dome!
